To be fair, it's only been one day since I've received it and I have only used vision clearomizers and a vivi nova on it, but I haven't been able to change it to anything but 3.7v unless I want a burnt taste or no taste.

I'm giving cartos and carto tanks a try next (they're in the mail), so hopefully I will start seeing the benefit of having a VV device. Otherwise I'll see about trading for a Provape-1 possibly.

Would appreciate some suggestions on a fairly hassle free set-up.

The most hassle free I know of is a Boge carto. They work out of the box, are easy to fill and perform great. If you're getting them for a vv device I'd recommend going with the 3.0ohm.

Although CE2 Clearomizers aka Fluxomizers are by far my fav most of the fillerless type cartos and tanks will require some fiddling to get them performing optimally.

I've got both the LR and the SR Boges on the way, but I'll have to check out the ce2's. It's confusing though because they're called a bunch of different things, like the phoenix?

It can get very confusing with so many out, different names and new models, version coming out what seems to be every day. The ones I was talking about were the first to come out and they have went under the most revisions. The are called CE2 Clearomizer by everyone except Gotvapes who calls them Fluxomizer.

I think once you start vaping on cartomizers you will be able to enjoy the experience while you experiment with options. I've tried quite a few clearomizers, but for me the cartos provide the most consistent and reliable performance. Hopefully you can vape happily away on your cartos while you play with the confusing myriad of alternatives. :)

It all depends on the resistance of your clearo or carto on what setting to use. My fav set up with my provari is a pyrex glass tank and a Boge Xl SR carto, works fabulous. I have also found that clearos have problems, I have much less problems with the glass tanks and Boge 3 ohm XL SR. I get my tanks here- High Desert Ecigs I have also found that fruit and light flavors tastes best at lower volts 3.7- 4.2 and the tobaccos, chocolates, coffees and heavy juices taste best at higher settings like 4.4-4.5 with Boge SR carto. Takes a bit of playing with settings. But clearos in my opinion are not worth the trouble because they don't perform well. I have tried several! LOL bnrk

The biggie is having a regulated device here over a non regulated device, your going to find that even a 3.7V-4.2v vape is going to be better because of the true voltage always being delivered to whatever you put a top of your Provari, where as a non regulated device your voltage is slowly going down hill every vape you take just about. Try some other stuff besides your Vivi and Clearo's, especially a good Atty and just dripping, or a DC Carto, here you will see the difference, and dialing it in to the sweet spot and leaving it there :)

Get yourself a nice carto tank and crank that baby up. I've read lots of posts about clearomizers (even the vivi nova) not being able to handle much in the way of voltage. Hope this helps.
This is kind of the response I was looking for in regards to those clearomizers, but I have not as of yet seen any posts to this effect.

Makes a lot more sense as to why I can't get past 3.7v on my Provari now.

I had been using the visions from GV and have now been going with the Phoenix Bottom coil XL 2.4-2.6 on a Provape 1. The Phoenix work very well on the Provape......but...... I think it would be worth moving up just to have a regulated device. I'm not at all convinced I would get any real improvement by going to a cart/tank system. Products like the Phoenix have improved so much from the early clears that they can compete very well with the tank systems.

Dialing in the voltage that works well and having it stay there throughout the battery cycle would be a very nice thing and an improvement over the Provape 1.

Having said that I'm just so contented with my current set up I'm not in a big hurry to change things.

we all ran into some stuff in the beginning.. Think ive burned 20 boge cartos last 2 months.. but Boge cartos are the way to go! Just fill them with the large condom filled to 80% trough the bottom, when you have pushed the carto all the way down. Do a 5-10 sec tayrin spin on it. Just drill 2 holes into a leppomade container or something and make a spin device yourself. You will see the carto going dry in the top instantly making all the juice at the bottom of the carto. Fill the top with 6-8 drops. Take off the condom. Blow trough it once. Wipe off. Vape. No more burning cartos and you can crank it up without any wait :)

I read a quick rule of thumb on one of the threads here on ECF, by somebody with far more tech knowledge than I, regarding volts and the Provari. Works for me.

I ALWAYS check the resistance of a filled carto, tank, Stardust or whatever, before I vape. 13 clicks to get to Ao on the Provari. It will tell you the oHms of resistance in your filled device. Multiply that by 2.5 volts to determine the safe "high" voltage for that device. Set your Provari there to start, then drop back if you get a hint of "burnt." Going beyond that safe "high" voltage will likely lead to burnt tastes or error codes.

I prefer using single coil 2.5-3.0 oHm devices. I rarely go above 4.5v, though. That seems to be my sweet spot for flavor and TH.

I can still vape my old LR devices, but not really above 3.7 v, which is the same as the kGo.

I like the Ikenvape Platinum 510 cartos, but it seems like they're always out of stock on the standard resistance ones, which is what you need on a Provari. I haven't had much luck with the horizontal coil cartos, so I can only recommend the Platinums and the Fusions.

As vespaguy says, they are definitely better than Boge or Smok Tech cartos, and more consistent.
