I have decided to improve the aesthetics of my LT. I have already wrapped it in a carbon fiber overlay, but I was wondering if anyone had tried to change out the endcap for something better (i.e. not plastic)? I know that the Bulli 510 Extreme will fit it, but access to one is not feasible. Surely someone has tried this and hopefully found a suitable replacement. Bueller? Bueller?

been planning to do that carbon fiber overlay...
how'd you managed to do to buttons?

any templates or exact measurement?

thanks!

For this one, I made a template out of 2" silk medical tape and pencil rub over the top to highlight the buttons and screen margins.

I then affixed the tape/template onto the CF and carefully cut it with a small exacto knife.

I then removed the adhesive backing on the carbon fiber and starting with the button screen area slowly applied the CF around the tube.

Hope this helps.

Nice one Fazed, been playing around too with vinyl. Tried the Di-Noc fiber and its near impossible to feel where the buttons are under the texture. Maybe with a template like you mentioned it would easier. Post pictures if you do get any other cap to fit on or even just if you pull your Lavatube apart, I've been thinking of a paint job but not sure how to safely rip the internals of this thing. Here's mine :)

Looks good Woooo! I've been on the hunt for cheapie 18650 sized flashlights but haven't found any the right size.

What I have so far,

1) Bulli Extreme 510 cap works, but hard to get.

2) Provari cap is the right size, but threads are different.

Still looking.

I too have been wondering if there is any sort of metal cap. That carbon fiber looks really good. If I could get the electronics out of the LT I am thinking about swirling it like my guitar. I think that would look pretty cool.

I've been hoping that volcano will eventually offer a better replacement that you can buy but ??

PS. Hey that's a sweet looking axe !! Looks like a Jackson headstock ?? Love the swirl it really pops!! I have been a guitar player for 25 years.. Graduated BerkLee with a B.A in music education and now teach for Sam Ash. I have many custom guitars but I never atempted to do anything too extreme or much paint or finish work.. Electronics stuff like wiring some p'ups.. I did work for Gibson Bozeman, MT but I wdid fret work on accoustics in a assembly line type fashion.. I'd love to see the finished product PM me the results...

No you didn't lol. I was thinking, maybe you could use the caps from a stainless steel tank and solder the 510 connection in there, or is it only the bottom cap you are trying to replace? The bottom would look a little odd with a hole in the middle but it would be cheaper than salvaging a mod just for the caps. If there is a tank out there with the right dimensions that is.

Found an endcap that works... The BuzzPro! Needs a weaker spring but otherwise threads right on. May have to pick another BP cap up from Buzzkill when I order my infinity pro!

Hey thanks for the heads up. If my end cap ever breaks I know where to get one. And they sell the cap separately.

I've been contemplating the top cap. The current one is press fit in there. To get another cap, let's say a buzz pro top (as the tube dimensions are the same), I would have to somehow machine threads inside the tube, or press fit it in (and epoxy) if tolerances allow.
