I have been vaping since 2011 and have predominately using just smoktech 1.5 and 1.25 ohm dual coil cartos. Based on all the information out there on tanks and rebuildable atomizers and all these other devices which has caused me a tremendous amount of confusion.

I would like to know...am I missing a better vaping experience? I do not see any more videos of people using regular cartos anymore. What am I missing?

Thanks.

It really depends how much time and fiddling about you have to devote to vaping. RBAs will work out cheaper than cartos eventually(!!) and you do have the freedom to play with different setups to get what you prefer from your device. You will need, RBA/Tank, wick, wire and a multimeter. It needn't be bitterly expensive to buy all that.

But cartos are easy, low maintenance and not unduly expensive.

That is very well said Creepylady. I personally enjoy the hands on appeal of rebuildables. But just as well i use tanks for long periods where i dont have to rebuild anything. Currently in my kayfun i am using a carto like build with a vertical coil surrounded by billowy cotton. It i think is the best.....for me but i always look to improve my taste relative to my budget.

I toss cartos and replace every two or three days. I toss my Kanger heads into a zip lock and rebuild when I'm in the mood to do that while watching TV. There's seldom a time when I don't have several packs of cartos and heads around for quick change stock, though. The more heads I have, the more there are to rebuild!

Personally not a fan of solo cartos (can be difficult to know when to refill them), or dual coil cartos (too warm and harsh for me).

My preferred vape are high resistance single coil cartos in a cartotank. It's easy to see when I need to refill the tank. Great flavor and vapor production. Zero mainatanance. Consistant and dependable. Work equally well home or out.

RBA's can be fiddly. I don't like fiddly, some people don't mind and like to tinker. I just want to vape. Genesis-style RBA's leak when not kept upright, so they are not ideal for out of the house.

During the summer of 2012 the quality of cartos really suffered (bogegate). This led to a migration to clearmizers, and that led to new and better clearos. As folks became comfortable playing with cleaning and rebuilding clearos they became comfortable with RBA's.

There was also the FDA and the possibility of deeming regulations, so a lot of us started looking for alternatives in case they rolled the clock back to 2007 on us. (and that still might happen).

So there are valid reasons why many that have started vaping in the last year or so have never tried a carto. Many see a carto and think of Blu or Njoy, and just equate them with entry level PV's even though cartos are a great way to vape. But, the reality is that now there are an abundance of alternatives, something we didn't have when cartos became popular.

I still consider the carto tank the number one advancement in vaping because so much of what we use today came about as a result.
