Am I missing any equipment to have a good start?

Hey all -- new vaper here (obviously) and just wanted to double check that I was in good shape to try this hobby out when all my new toys get in. I am not currently a smoker, I enjoy a pipe or fine cigar here and there, but I can't smoke inside, so I rarely get to indulge. I have never inhaled my cigar/pipe, so I think I will be somewhat unique in my equipment requirements -- In general, I am hoping that vaping can allow me to have the calming evenings of a flavor complex "smoke" on a slightly more regular basis. I am looking for a lot of flavor/vapor, but not through a 15 second deep lung inhale.

So far I have ordered an iTaste VTR kit (battery and tank included) with an extra Kanger Pro Tank 2, a charger, and a couple different juices. I really like the idea of dripping in the early days while I am trying to find my go to juice, so I was thinking about adding something for that in with my next purchase, which will be a sampler of Good Life Vapor liquids.

Anyone have anything that I am totally missing or recommendations on a reasonable way to get a drip setup on the way? I am an electrical engineer with decent soldering/electrical construction skills, so if DIY is the way to go that doesn't scare me either.

Thanks for any help -- been reading a ton, but still needing a bit of guidance

Welcome to ECF!! :vapor:

Hardware wise you are off to a good start, your tank, atty or topper preference may change as everyone seems to have their own favorites. Finding the flavor you like is also a scavenger hunt as again everyone seems to have their own favorites....:)

You may enjoy reading through the Battery Mods
And once you have 5 posts you can jump into threads there...a new electrical engineer is always very welcome!!!

Welcome to ECF and I hope you find vaping to give you the enjoyment you got out of a good cigar or pipe. Folks here have more experience than I have with different kinds of gear (my equip is simple, eGot upgraded batteries, kanger MT3S BCC clearos and a number of juice flavors), but one thing that I've read here and followed is to have backups for all of my gear and backups to my backups, because I never want to be in a position equipment failure leading me back to tobacco. Namaste.

one thing i Didn't see anyone mention was extra batteries. the VTR uses a 18650 battery so, you would need at least 1 extra while the other is charging. Also Not sure what comes in the VTR if its sold as a kit, but maybe adding a good charger as well.

as far as juice goes it will vary by person, just as everyone said above. My wife and I smoked the same brands, yet juice we are very different. Even to the point that we love some flavors the other cant even stand the smell of.

Thanks for all the replies and welcomes! I'll look into the mod forum and the Igo L for sure.

Just curious. Have you decided how you are going to mount a drip atomizer on your VTR? It would be awkward I'd think to use it in the internal tank area on the VTR. I know that it comes with a tall adaptor for larger tanks that won't fit in the internal tank area.
I planned to use the extension for when I use the drip. I saw someone else with this setup and it seemed to work pretty slick. I could have an MVP size device when I'm home, but be dripping, and have the relative compactness that the VTR offers when I am out and about.

Thanks - I almost ordered a couple extra batteries from Amazon when I bought my charger, but I couldn't find out for sure that I needed flat top or button top.

If I had a VTR the atomizer I would get for it is the Taifun GS. It's 17 mm at the base so think it should fit in the recessed 510 connection and not have to use the extension adaptor. Check it out, think the GS would provide the vape you are looking for and give you the quality of a dripper with a tank on top. Good luck, have fun and welcome to the forum!!
