Am I really not supposed to post a new thread?

I've been on dozens of forums as a admin, mod, and member and find it hard to believe I need 5 posts to post anywhere else in the forum and can't even post a new topic here. As a newbie, how am I supposed to get 5 posts? I don't have knowledge to contribute and work 80+hrs a week so I don't have time for chit chat...either way my posts would be borderline spam to get to 5. I just want to make a post asking for opinions why e-cigs make me so ridiculously sick. I've spent a lot of time searching/reading and haven't found anything that seams to apply to my situation. If I'm allowed to post a topic I'll give more details into my situation.

Also unless I missed it there should be something that lets newbies know we can't post anywhere else in the forum so someone like me doesn't waste 15mins looking for the "post new topic" button. If I wasn't really familiar with forums I would have given up but luckily I know how to (on some forums) make a new topic in a round about way which gave me the pop up message saying I can't post yet.

I apologize If I'm not supposed to make a new post. It just seams unusual to me and the fact I am able to make a new post makes me think I'm just confused.... I'm certainly tired enough.

Regards,
K

That's one. Now respond to 4 others and you're there. It's pretty easy, really.

Check out the stickies on the New Members forum.

And if you have a question, go ahead and ask. :) You can post on the New Members forum.

Welcome to ECF. You can post new threads or just reply to others. As to getting sick, we don't know your symptoms. How many different flavors of juice have you tried? Have you tried radically different ratios of PG/VG? I know for me anything with cream in it makes me sick (at least one vendor's creams). Also, RY8 gives me knarly joint pain and an upset stomach. Too high a PG ratio and I get headaches and a sore throat. So, what are your symptoms?

You can post new threads and reply to threads all within the NEW members forum.
It doesn't take that long usually. You sit down for 5 minutes and reply to 5 threads at 1min each.
Give your opinions if you know absolutely nothing at all about e-cigs yet. Ask questions.

I was a forum moderator on forums years ago. I find it hard to believe you don't support/understand the rule?
You know about spam, don't you? We just don't want to forum chock full of ...... slurpie ads.
At any rate, welcome to the ecf forums. You'll fit right in here and have a lot of fun.

I'm sure we can get you to a point where vaping doesn't make you feel sick at all.
We will just have to troubleshoot the symptoms and problems your having.
Please let us know whats going on? We are here to help!

Also a Mod on some very, very busy forums and I completely understand why new members are "contained" to this section. Spammers with horrendously outrageously expensive kits and juice will post here. Amazingly and unfortunately some do fall for it before it's id'ed as Spam. Can you imagine chasing these posts all throughout a forum that's as busy as ECF? Unlike other forums we here have an addiction and are desperately looking for a solution and when a carrot is thrown out to us we will grab it. Welcome other people, say Hi...that's all it takes. You could even post the amount and brand of analogs you were smoking, the level/ mg of juice and quantity you're using. PG and VG level and the PV you have. This sickness...is it in your stomach, headaches. Vaping is extremely dehydrating and upping your water intake is a necessity.

I just started vaping 3 days ago and woke up today with a sinus infection. No idea if it is related to vaping or not. Will take a break and then start again once I am over this. Gah, my head hurts like crazy. :-/

New to this as well, but this could just be the toxins leaving your body. There are many symptoms associated with quitting analogs. I'll find a link.

It's both the PG and VG. They're hygroscopic which means when they enter our lungs, mouth, throat, nasal passages, etc they "trap" water molecules and thus the vapor.

What is it in vaping that causes the dehydration? Is it the PG or VG? I wouldn't think nicotene content would matter much...

i dont think it really causes any dehydration...it may cause mouth dryness but ive not noticed any sort of dehydration...im a distance runner (about 25 miles a week) and if it did cause any dehydration i think i'd know this pretty quickly..i've been vaping nearly 2 years i've not changed anything about my liquid intake at all...i think its probably folklore

You posted a new thread already. I would say having been an admin, mod and member of other forums then I'm sure you understand that spam bots have a tendency to join public forums such as this one in large numbers and post nonsense about ...... and other stuff that we don't want here.

More private forums don't have this problem but ECF is mostly public so the five post rule acts as a filter for bots and undesirables.

As a newbie, how am I supposed to get 5 posts? I don't have knowledge to contribute and work 80+hrs a week so I don't have time for chit chat...either way my posts would be borderline spam to get to 5. Well being a newbie and not knowing much is not a problem. I would suggest asking questions, there are loads of people who can share their knowledge, opinion and experience.

As to why you are sick, while most people here are not medical professionals, we have gone through various things. So the question is what are your symptoms, and are they due to vaping, or due to tobacco cessation. In my experience if you have X symptom there is someone else who has also had X symptom here. Also there is a thread of common symptoms of smoking cessation and new vaper problems in the New Members Information Subforum.

It sounds to me like you missed the New Members Information subforum. Granted most of the topics there are locked, but that is because most of them are informative, resource related and rules related.

Kinky you are likely confused. New users, until they have 5 posts, can only start and post in threads located in the New Members Forum. And even working 80hrs a week it is easy to get 5 posts. I managed to get five posts in about 10 minutes just by posting an introduction thread.

I don't think it's folklore. I've been vaping 2 years and from the day I got on this forum hundreds of people have talked about dehydration, so I think I'll go with all of their opinions rather than your one opinion LOL
I suspect that as a runner you were already well hydrated and used to drinking lots of fluids, whereas most people do not drink as much fluid during the day as they should and have to make a conscious effort to do so. (I would be one of those people :))
