Am I the Only One? (rant)

I love my BLU. Blu was the first e-cig I ever heard of and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then I did some research and ended up here on ECF. After reading all of the bad reviews here, I didn't order one.

Five months and several hundred dollars later - I have had four different models, and each is a no-go for different reasons. The J118 is good, but I lost at least one batt a week, and it is hard to find a vendor with replacements. I hated the 510, no better vapor than the J118, but the taste was horrible and it got so hot. The RN4072 makes noise when I inhale, and it it huge. After a couple of weeks the atties taste terrible and there is no fixing them no matter how I clean them. Replacing RN4072 atties every two weeks would get expensive. My nicostick works great, I really like the way it performs, but am not comfortable with the way it looks or feels. Yes, I want vaping to replace smoking, so it has to look and feel right in my hand. I have tried every cart mod mentioned.

By this point, $59, is chicken feed compared to everthing else I have spent on e-cigs- so I buy the BLU on a lark. OMG! I am finally happy! It does exactly what I want it to do. There is no constant fiddling with it. Spare parts are cheap and readily available. It looks and feels like a cigarette (except that it is black with a blue LED, which I think looks pretty cool) Between Blu and Volcano, there are plenty of flavors of pre filled carts and blanks.

My BLU is my favorite new toy. It is like fingernails on a blackboard everytime I see a post complaining about them. Especially the, oh-so-common "It's crap. send it back and buy a 510" commnet. Some of us like the blu. Not everyone likes a 510.

I wish I wouldn't have let myself be swayed by all the bad reviews and had just bought a blu first. It would have saved me months of frustration and tons of money. To everyone who says they bought a blu first and immediately moved to a 510 or something else - just send all of those piece of crap blucigs to me. :p

Now if I can only get my hands on one of those crystal studded blu packs they gave away at the grammys.....maybe a trip to the craft store for some rhinestones and super glue????

I have to agree. I am fairly new to the ecig world however I have invested in a great deal of other models, etc.. The Blu was my first however, comparing it with the others I have to say you won't be dissapointed with the quality of the Blu. I am now giving the kits as gifts to friends. It's reliable, and yes, the carts are refillable. The atomizers are compatible with Janty's batts, visa versa. You can't lose with a Blu.

I have found that I carry it as a back up,, and it never lets me down. Love it,, highly suggest it to anyone!

@Angelique yea I just joined the forum, and love the blu...it was a first ecig homerun thing for me....I hate all the naysayers...it seems like they didn't even try to look for a solution, and also I hear blu originally had some crappy parts, but the manufacturer has improved the l88b model a lot and they got a new cart supplier with better liquid fills and stuff....I don't know maybe all those people tried it when it was still a buggy company or something...YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE!

Well, the new Blu atomizers are supposed to be pretty sweet. But having just ordered carts from them recently, they're still crap compared to Volcano's, which are deeper and wick better by far. Not only that, they'll charge you 30% less than Blu for an identical amount of 25 carts at whatever strength you want. They even let you mix and match each 5 pack of carts at no additional charge. Blu charges $25.00 flat and you cannot mix and match.

Ya Know. I really despise Blu's customer service, but I love their product, when you can get it. I really hope their poor customer service does not affect their product - along with the FDA.

The Blu is the 4th eCig I have purchased and I am really liking it. I am beginning to believe that the people liking the 500 series manuals, are really just looking for a good "Drug" delivery system and if they could find a way to get THC into it, they would.

I have to admit, though, BLU's Natural Tobacco flavor nearly made me puke after coughing so hard. I never got used to it. The Menthol is OK, and the Java is good. But never fear, Cart Refills are near.

And, most importantly, since I got my Blu in Jan 2010, I haven't touched an Analog - something I just couldn't get completely away from with the other eCigs.

Cheers,
BuBu

I got my Blu last thursday and started using it full time on 2/27.
Much better than the Smoking Everywhere. The SE allowed me to be smoke free for a month and I gave it away to another smoker.

Mistake!!
Well, not so much as he started smoking less too, but I satrted smoking AGAIN! 8-o

So I ordered the Blu. It got here in 4 working days (4 days and a weekend) Customer service was glad to help with my questions.

They ship from Charlotte NC, btw..

Got my Blu and 50 carts on the same day. Im going to go refill, so suggestions on the best place and price vs. Volcano carts needed.

Peeling the foil and 4th day into it and Im all good.

Just keep the used Blu carts and refill them after you clean them with warm water. The ejuices, at least all the ones I've tried to include Blu, are all water soluble. No need to detergents or harsh solvents. The poly fill from the blu's work OK, but I've tried replacing that with simple coffe filters cut up in a way so that they fit inside the cup and don't pull out everytime you take the atty out. The atty bridge is pretty rough and will just about grab anything that touches it. My "coffee filter mod (CFM)" seems to be working OK so far. There are ton's of mods you can do and learn out there, but I haven't had time to get some of the other materials that are being used. The CFM was readily available. You may have to play with the size to get it just right, I've found that if I use a CF 1.5 inches by .5 inches works best for me. Don't roll it up, just kind of fold it up lenth wise as small as you can to get lots of pleats in it. It's slightly better than the poly fill and there is a lot less juice in the cup with the CFM than the polyfill when you start loosing the throat hit. Don't over fill.

What Ive been doing over the last few days is taking the spent cart and saving it untill the next cart gets the burnt taste. Then I remove the fill from one juice cup and put in in the other so I have two in there. The leftover juice from both make almost another full one :)

Im going to get an inkwell this weekend so I can pull the fillers out and just drop them in and use the juice later.

Thanks Schmoe! Ill look up the CFM. Too bad the site doesnt let you search for three letters 8-o

not to rain on your parade buuuuuuuut...I too ordered a blu and hated it =(. It constantly cuts me off while I'm inhaling after like 2 sec sometimes less (it seems to just stop then come back on randomly). The throat hit is almost nothing! I like can't even feel it and I can barely taste it, just a faint cherry flavor. I'm glad you like it, and maybe I just got 2 bad batteries or something, but I will never use blu again unless all of my 510 batteries and mods suddenly break down all at once.

I guess I'm in the rare category here... I love my 510 and 901 atties, even gettin into cartos (after the first one bein partial dud made me think they sucked)

I got a l88b type cig from revolver, the "elite" kit. My bud down the street has a Blu, and this thing is almost a perfect twin. So, why am I so rare? I love this little ecig too.

It's not got "hit" to come near my big pvs, and doesn't produce as much visible vapor, especially compared to a 510@5V... But hold the absolute smallest 5Vmod up next to one of these little guys... C'mon it does awesome for it's size!
There's a couple juices that are way better in the l88b, it's fun, TINY, easy to mess with, the PCC Rocks!

I always take it with, and when I want a quick fix, or some "stealth" vape: Out comes the supermini! Everyone will have their opinions, and that fine... But if you simply look, every option has it's ups and downs!

There's no in between with Blu....either you do or you don't. Believe me, there are times I get frustrated, but it does work. Is it perfect all the time? No. But from what I've been reading, it seems all atty's have problems. There, at this point, is no holy grail. You have to work with what you got and make it work for you.

lol...I was just going to post how much I agreed with the OP that I'm quite satisfied with my Blu, looking down as I take a drag off of:

A Blu cartridge, but with the filler replaced with tea bag filler, after I couldn't stand the original cartridges' crummy wicking,

with e-liquid from some other place, since I didn't want to keep buying those dumb cartridges,

being vaped by a 306a atomizer I bought to replace the original Blu atties, because Blu was out of stock when my originals burnt out,

powered by a 510 battery on the passthrough that I just bought last week because one of my old batteries died and I was sick of swapping them since I'm at the computer pretty much all day anyway.

So basically, on my Frankensteinian creation, the only original Blu part is the plastic casing on the cart.

But really, I'm quite happy with the Blu overall. Aside from the cartridge filler, all of my components worked great. I think a lot of the crap people post about them came from the abysmal customer service people were getting last year. I don't know if any of that's changed, but since I got lucky on my first purchase apparently (I didn't really mind waiting for my first starter pack since I wasn't in a hurry to quit smoking), I've just been having fun mixing and matching different components and trying stuff out.

So yeah, I don't really get why there are so many Blu haters around, it's a slick little device, and I don't mind a little less vapor to trade off for the tiny form factor when I'm in public.

The thing I realized about 510 users is that they either never smoked and if they did smoke, they didn't inhale much. They're basically cigar smokers. They're all about filling up the room with smoke. They're not about the nicotine and taste.

I have the both l88b (Volcano) and 510 (Magma) i love them both.
They both have their uses and i use them BOTH all the time.

I keep a spare PCC (l88b) with fresh carts for people who wanna try it.

I dont wanna knock the l88b cuz i love it but i have had more than undesirable dealing with BLU my self but all company have people that wont deal with them.

All in all who cares as long as your happy thats what counts.

Alot of it has to do with how much someone wants to play with things to get them to work.
Every company has bad parts from time to time and some people dont wanna deal. Others will call and get replacements and such so same circumstances with 2 different people 1 is good and one is bad.
