Ok - so I have to revise my original opinion about vapor on my KR808D being dismal or nonexistant. I started to get that awful burnt taste on my 510 - so I switched to my KR808D for all of yesterday while I soaked my 510 atty.
After vaping on the KR exclusively for a full day - vapor production more than doubled by last night. I think Dale s. is absolutely right in that there is some kind of break in period needed for the cartomizers. Until yesterday, I'd only vaped in small spurts on the KR808D and never for a full day. I don't think there's quite as much vapor as my 510, but it's pretty close.
Also...I have to admit that in terms of flavor, my KR808D blows the 510 away for me. I threw a fresh atty on my 510 this morning and after vaping for awhile to break in the new atty - I still found myself wanting to reach for the KR808D again because it tastes so much nicer.
So, in summary, I'm liking it far better than I did a couple of days ago . The trick for me seemed to be:
- Screwing the atomizer tightly onto the battery. It doesn't seem to make a difference in vapor production if I tighten it a bit past the battery hole or not. Though I notice an easier draw if I line up with the whole.
- Take *very* gentle, slow and deep draws (slow enough that I can hear a little 'sizzle' as I draw). This was awkward initially, but I got used to it by the end of the day so it was less of a conscious effort.
- Break in the cartomizer for about a day to achieve good vapor production
- Keep the cartomizer topped off. I notice less vapor for awhile if I overfill and, of course, if I run it too dry. A nice wet batting without noticeable juice pools around the edges seem to be perfect.
The bulky form factor is still a big negative for me...but I'm hoping 901 whistle tips other people have suggested will take care of that.
