I, too, am a dyed in the wool, single coil kind of guy. I have tried dual coils and twisted coils both. I have found that the additional time it takes to both heat up and cool down the multi-wire coils is not for me. I have also found out that anything over 12.5W makes for an unpleasant vape for me. My latest kick has been top air squonkers, due to the leak proof nature of the top air.

I also vape at 12-15 watts.

I even put a single horizontal coil in the Veritas when it is designed for double vertical coils.

I do the same thing. I have a Veritas, modified for Bottom Feed, on a Reos VV Grand that currently has a horizontal coil, and a standard Veritas set up with a single vertical coil, on top of a ProVari P3 for taste testing of my DIY juices. Either way, they provides great flavor in single coil mode.

Single coils at 7 to 10 watts satisfies my need for a slightly warm vape and a cigarette like inhale and exhale. Clouds are fine if you like them, but PG and VG have an effect on lung efficiency and can cause irritation to lung and throat tissue in heavy concentrations. Cloud blowers I've talked with say that they experience no lung irritation, but you don't know what affect 10 years of doing that will bring.

Stage hands and performers in movies have an EPA limit on hours per day of exposure to fog machines that use PG and VG glycerin based fog.

Interesting fact. I was aware some Entertainment Workers have Union regulations, but the fact that the EPA limits exposure to 'Fog Machines' is something I was not aware of...

I also prefer a single coil. Less heat of the vape about 75% of the vapor of a dual coil setup, easier build, my juice goes farther

I even putva single horizontal coil in the Veritas when it is designed for double vertical coils.

Ever try a single vertical in the Veritas? That was how I started with it, then tried a single horiz -- I think the single vertical was actually better. I wasn't terribly impressed with the Veritas, but I vape at a fairly low power -- 10w or less -- and I'm told that the Veritas really needs more power than that, to be great.

Mainly I just find RDAs with o-rings to secure the top cap a huge PITA; I never can get them to go on right, it takes forever, whereas the threads on my Magma and Achilles are much easier to deal with.

I made a single coil 1.14 ohm 28 gauge for my Veritas clone and the Subtank mini gave me better flavor than the evod, Protank 1,2, and 3. Even better than the Aero tank;

But the flavor of this build was better than the Subtank Mini or Nano and I think even better than than my brief stint with the Nautilus Mini

I did a horizontal coil placed directly in front of the airflow.

Tasty.

In this thread, I think I found the solution to the problem that I've been researching for the past couple of weeks. I started vaping on an EVOD, and have tried Mini Protank 2, Mini Protank 3, Aspire Nautilus, Kanger Subtank and have recently been gifted with a UD Zephyrus. I keep going back to the EVOD or MPT2 because the taste is so much better. The taste on the Nautilus was never to my liking, and I definitely do NOT like sub ohm.

I know the MPT3 can be rebuilt as a single coil, and if I'm reading this thread correctly, the Nautilus and Subtank can also be rebuilt as single coil, is that correct? The Nautilus attys I have are BDC.

If I put a single plus-ohm coil into a sub ohm tank like the Zephyrus or Subtank, will that work?

I've rebuilt the EVOD/MPT2, and will do the MPT3 once I can figure out how to get the sleeve off, exposing the coil, so I am not a complete noobie when it comes to rebuilding, just been having a hard time finding some answers without being shamed for not wanting to cloud up my house :).

If you don't find it here, you can check the tootle puffer thread; lots of folks in there who share your perspective. ;)

Yes you are correct. One does not need to go Sub Ohm to use the Subtank Mini of Nano. Not so sure about rebuilding the Nautilus or Nautilus Mini.

RIP Trippers has a stupid simple rebuild vid for the OCC coils in the Kanger Subtank varieties. The build he shows is stupid simple. I rebuilt those until I got the Veritas Clone RDA. Building the coils in the OCC heads are easier than building in the RTAs and the RDAs where you trap the wire under screw heads.

The way to build the OCC to not be sub ohm is to choose wire with a higher ohm rating, more wraps or a finer wire with a higher ohm rating per foot.

My current build in my Veritas clone RDA is 1.17 ohms.

For me personally, Vaping is Freedom from 40 years of Tobacco Use. I breathe better, sleep better, eat better (have extra 30 pounds to back that up) and have more energy and am far more productive thanks to Vaping. Much like the Tobacco Pipes I used to smoke, I am a 'Puffer' or a Mouth-To-Lung Vaper. I enjoy a light, easy vape.
For me personally, Vaping is NOT an Olympic Event, and I really couldn't care less about your 'Cloud Size'. I recently traded a new Reos LP/SP Grand and RM5 for a ProVari P2 and an Original Svoemesto Kayfun just because I really found no enjoyment in dual coils or sub-ohming. It was, for me; too hot, left my throat raw and aggravated my sinus allergies, and changed the way my favorite e-liquids taste. I spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years because I HAD TO SMOKE, and I refuse to vape in a manner I am not totally comfortable with.
I run five Various Reos Mods, four have RM2's and one BF Veritas, and Two ProVaris with Kayfuns. Using either a 5/64 or a 3/32 drill bit, I wrap my own coils. I think I might have a few old pictures.

I am quite comfortable with this vaping style. It wasn't that long ago we were all sucking on drip atomizers and Cartomizers. Which had their own coils in the bottom. Yes, Vaping is still in it's Evolutionary Stage. But sometimes, as I peruse the ECF, I am left to wonder am I the only dinosaur left who is NOT chasing clouds?

As the Title says, Am I the Only One who still Prefers a Single Coil ?
I also prefer a single coil and have a svo mesto Kayfun lite and a Russian 91% that are my daily go to's the other attys I have just sit I may pull one of them out from time to time.

Correct, at least for the Subtank. In fact, it's exceedingly easier to use a single coil versus some kind of dual or double barrel. I always put singles in my Subtank RDA. Most of my coils I put in there are not subohm and work just dandy.

I also like single coils.,and just started building a week ago. Have 3 kanger mini's and just built the goblin mini dual. Which for me was a little bit of a pain(screws are tiny). Looking for some good rta's with single coil decks. Are they going obsolete?

The Kayfun comes to mind. A good HCigar clone of the KFL+ is probably under $40 these days. Single coil, directly above air intake for flavor. I personally found them a little tricky for heavy VG e-liquids, but it wasn't much of a problem.
