Hi there, my first post and its a huge problem.
I have the Ammit 22 single coil, I'm using it with Pico 75W, I use SS 28g 5 warps, it gives me around 0.58 to 0.70ohm, I like the warm vape so I am trying to go to 35 watts, but usually stuck on 25 to 28 the wick (japanese) is always burns, no matter what I did.

Thick wicking, thin wicking, short and barely touching the bottom air flow, long and covering the air flow, no matter what I did I am unable to get the wick to stay more than one tank, many times (and I mean, A LOT) its less than 10 puffs and I get the metallic taste.
opening half airflow, opening it all the way, half opening the liquid control flow, opening it all the way. loosening the top cap to allow some air and get rid of the bubbles.
I usually vape around 4 to 5 mils of liquid a day, 30mil bottle usually last for more than a week, but since I got my Ammit I emptied bottle and a half on trying and failing.
I forgot my daily liquid original taste, my mouth always taste metallic,
The pico is my first mod and it cames with the Melo III with the premade coils, they say it taste meh, but I really missing it, I even used the last premade coil I have and vaped on the Melo III for a whole day just after 2 days of having this sh*t.
I really think of turning to drip, I saw most of the atomizers don't need a rocket science wicking expert to do it.

Any suggestions with this piece of junk?

I doubt it's the wicking; it's because your trying to run it at 35 watts ~heat flux of 550mW/mm^2
steam engine ss 28g
I think it would burn even if you held it under a running faucet (ok, so not really). But an rda wouldn't really change that. You need to up the surface area/wire mass. Either go up to say 24g 8 wrap or try parallel 28g 7 wrapish. This will increase the vapor and require a higher wattage to heat up the coil. Probably around your 35 Watts.

That's too many watts for .5ohm 28ss unless you have duals..... that build should vape at around 15watts or so. 35 would burn......
Try doing about 9 wrap or 1.2ohms or so that will get you to around 30 watts.... a twisted or parallel coil will get you more wattage.....

You issue is not enough wire for desired wattage.

I run my RDA with 28 ga. .7 ohm ... with TC 16.5W 410 deg F. This is wick'd with the cotton touching the leads all the way to the posts to avoid burning taste with top drip. I haven't been able to get any RTAs working to my satisfaction.
Add wire those settings on the mod will work better with a higher ohm is your mod can do TC higher. .....

Anybody every consider that it's not the coil with the wicking issue... but the tank.... there are to things to consider controlling flow from the tank the second is feeding the coil..... it possible to wick a coil perfectly and still get dry hits if your wick is choking off flow from the tank....

Yes more wire (same gauge) could make more vapor not necessarily better for my purposes, but probably better for the OP. As to TC I find the temperature doesn't need to be that high if the power is set right, set too high the TC overcompensates. I could also get a bit more power on the same coil with more airflow etc. but again not a better vape. I like a medium vaporization temperature and cool exit temperature at a filling but casual vapor rate. If the OP likes the Melo 3 he definitely needs a bigger coil(s). Plus of course RTA skillz.

After you prime your coil turn tank upside down look at the juice well there is tiny hole where you can see the end of the cotton resting and covering it ..put few drops of liquid on each hole then fill as regular

I have been using this wire (link at bottom) in my single coil Ammit and my Merlin. When I wick Ammit I have a paper clip with a little hook on the end that I stick in from the juice channel and push the wick up through the round hole from underneath to make sure the juice can get up through the hole. Coils last for months and they work extremely well with 5 wraps and 42.5 watts for .46 ohms. That's all I have ran the past eight months as I found my happy place finally. Both tanks and perhaps it is me, but they are hard on glass so I keep a good supply of glass around for both tanks. Get them on link below as well. I have over 100 tanks in the house still and my Ammit is my favorite tank of all time. Hope you can find your happy place as well. CHEERS!

Yes, I'm wondering if your happy place may be either a lower resistance coil or less wattage with what you are building. If you want to use TC, you might want to start out with a slower ramp up (set your initial wattages lower) and then a lower TC value? It's going to be hard to avoid burning with what you are aiming for.

You could lower wattage, or change your build so you can run it at higher wattage, as stated in a variety of ways. You might find yourself happier with rayon, would be another possibility, although any wick will burn under the right conditions, rayon tends to last a little longer, and be an easier wick to deal with.

Also, if you are OVER wicking with cotton (both inside the coil, and not thinning the wick enough) it can burn more easily. This is actually due to not enough airflow getting into the wick causing poor overall wicking of juice to the coil, which then may burn, even though it may not make sense, initially. I tended to overstuff/not trim or thin my cotton enough and rayon plays to my strengths-- overwicking-- as it shrinks with e-liquid. I can still occasionally over wick, but it's much improved.

Don't get me wrong, I think you are going to have to change your build, watts, or both, but you may find rayon a little easier in getting to where you want to be.

Best of luck. I hope you get this working for you. Pictures would definitely help if you can post some. Lots of experts here on this thread to help you though, and I bet pics would help. Good luck!
