The Grand and the 18490 are not that far apart. Basically, the 18490 is the same thickness as the Grand, and the same height as the Mini. The Grand if very portable (IMHO) and ALL the new rebuildables will fit the Grand with no problem. The Grand would be my choice for that reason alone. The Grand is the size of a business card. I'm going to go try to find thahe picture that shows the sizes. And besides the size not being a problem, the bigger bottle (6 ml vs. 3 ml) and longer battery life are both nice. Just my opinion. I just know that now that I've changed over to all rebuildables (you will too when you try them, I'll bet) that I'm wishing I had another Grand and one less 18490..... :) Gonna go try to find that comparison picture....

To me when I explain the Grand it's a little bigger than a pack of 100's smokes. Minus the atty and drip tip

Hey, LongHaul, glad to hear it. Of the wicking materials I have (sent you)....my favorite is the embroidery thread. It's my "go to" wick. I need to revisit the candlewick.....didn't give it much of a try. And I haven't done a vertical wick yet....I've gotten so good with coiling my cotton thread that I've just become lazy. I can roll a wick and install it now in about 2 minutes, so I'm just enjoying. At first I was rolling a new coil about every day just because it was so new and fun. Now I leave a wick on for about a week or more.

thank you for all your input :) I was wondering if it will be possible to make a coil setup in Robs atty like it ERA - basically the one that fills a lot of empty space with just wick which soaks all the juice thats being brought up.

Also does it matter which poles I connect the wire to ? I mean I saw that ERA has a +/- pole but the wire is the same from both sides so it wont matter which one I connect right ? JC Okie what wick and wire are you using to set your coils ? (any good articles on what wick/wire to use and setting up) Also do you use Kick with your reo? I have few rebuildables atm like GP spheroid or bulli a2tm but its a hit and miss dunno why, sometimes its ok sometimes the filling matirial doesnt give enough juice to the coil etc. Thats why im thinking reo.

I adjust the vapor with a low ohm coil and there is no real need for a kick for me. No it don't matter on the ERA and there are a lot of good examples on how to leave the ends long enough to wrap around the entire inside of the ERA. As for wicking material I will let Jan handle that one

bydus, it doesn't matter which pole to hook your wire to....

I am using 32 gauge Kanthal A-1 wire and cotton wick. I have tried lots of cotton and/or bamboo string/thread/yarns, and the one I use almost exclusively is a 100% cotton embroidery thread. I use 6 strands. I wrap the wire around the 6 strands of thread AND a big needle so that it's not too tight when the thread swells with juice. I use 4-5 wraps of the wire, and I usually get a 1.4-1.5 ohm coil. I don't use a kick, but 1.5 ohm on the 3.7 volts Grand is perfect for me. I also use the same coil on the VV Grand, and it's perfect. I could use another wrap or two of the wire for the VV Grand, and sometimes I do. I've noticed that with that size wire, an extra wrap usually equates to about .2 ohms difference. I have used several different cotton/bamboo wicking materials, and have just settled (for awhile, at least) on the DMC cotton embroidery thread. I get it at Walmart, but it's available at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn's (any sewing shop.)

EDIT: You can use any thread/yarn that is 100% cotton. Or you can use Silica, although I'm totally NOT into silica which is why I was looking for an alternative. There's a great thread about the cotton wicks...I'll get it. Anyway, there's Aunt Lydia's bamboo #3 and #10 that are both pretty popular. There's Peaches & Cream 100% cotton yarn from Walmart, and Red Heart crochet thread from Walmart...both good. Just look for 100% cotton anything. I've used (lots of people have) cotton cheesecloth (from a grocery store, or organic from Bed, Bath and Beyond) and even cotton gauze (bandage) from CVS or Walgreen's drug stores. I'm going to go get that thread now.

I use an A7 with a Kicked GRand. Works very well. I just use silica wick and 32g wire.

many thanks for your reply :), to be honest I'm torn between getting 18490 (i like the portability) or grand. I guess I will wait for Rob to reply if his atty will fit metal 18490.
..........

The atomizer will work in grands vv grands woodvils vv woodvils and woodvil 18490s . It is a whisker smaller then the era in diameter. I will keep hunting for a smaller rba to convert

Hello Karla I haven't used the a7 personally . If your going to use a rba the vv units are the best place to start they have a protection circuit .
That is great to hear. I was really worried about that. I should have figured you wouldn't make anything but the best. ;) Thanks.

O' and by the way I would still love a polished door for the VV Grand if you ever have the time. I know they are a lot of work and I am sure you are busy but if you ever happen to make some just make sure you keep me in mind. I would hate for them to go up for sale on the site and I miss them. :)

No joke! I thought my switch was broken since it fired intermittently. Turns out it was just the circuit telling me I was noob.

Got everything working now, finally. :)

same thing happened to me recently thought my button was going out cuz my VVG because it was firing intermittently then nothing I even tried a carto nothing but still thought it could be something else so I rebuilt the coil and voila no firing issues and reason carto wouldn't fire is due to the ERA connector is longer and pushed my center pin down a little to far to connect with the carto. All is well now:toast:

I have been using ceramic wick. Liking it a lot on the ERA. It won't break down and looks just like silica. No shorts like SS and good wicking. Like it much better than cotton. Breaks in and gets more absorbent like SS.

Used 30 A1 Kanthal. Took like 8 wraps to get to desired 1.7 ohm. Most vaper yet. I just don't know how 28 K would get to 1.7 ohms. Must take a ton of wraps. Rob are you going to include 28 with the Reobuildable? Yes I just named it for you. Lol
