Newb here, like the others. I've spent days and days browsing this site and other way less informative sites reading reviews, reading suggestions for beginners, checking in on some of the more experienced posters, looking at charts and trying to understand what the hell everyone is talking about. The post were very clear but no matter how many times I read things it all seemed like Greek to me. Completely overwhelming and totally confusing....until last night at 10pm it finally clicked. My brain finally turned to the on position. I can't thank all the posters here for all of the help they have given to others it has been extremely helpful to me and many others I am sure.

Backgroud- Analogs since 15. Anywhere from 1/2 to 1 pack of Camel lights a day. I've been thinking about trying vaping for a couple months now but never tried any or even looked up any information on them. Then two weeks ago my mother brought home a disposable blu, she had been trying that day. Regular tobacco flavor. I tried it once and took it from her to test it out the next day. Over the course of the day I knew this was the way to go. I have since bought a few more of these disposables, however I know that if I am to really make the switch I would need something more.

So I am ready for something and before I click on that "pay now" button I want to see if the information that I believe clicked in my head makes sense.

I am feeling I should go with the Riva 510 carto kit. I'm thinking cartos for those long drives to work, watched some videos seems like something simple to refill and relatively low maint. I really like the idea of it lasting longer, I killed those disposable blu's rather quickly. 18mg VG juices. Do you think I will have clogging problems?? The possibility of headaches from the PG just scares me and if happened would likely kill the whole thing for me. I am thinking that in comparison with the disposables the Riva will have more vapor which I wanted and a bit more TH (even though I am going to use VG). Does this seem correct? Type of juice- still no idea thinking I'll start with some tobacco flavors for the transitional period before I move to the more food oriented things. Right now fruit and desert doesn't quite sound appealing. So any great VG tobacco flavor suggestions that may have gotten you through the transition would be totally appreciated. So what do you think?

I thank you ahead of time for any suggestions and taking the time to read my post.

Welcome to the ECF. If you have been trying out the Blu. You will have no worries about the Riva 510 carto kit. Mostly my headaches came from too much nicotine. 18mg is like a medium (Marlboro medium) cigerette. You can get 6mg which is like an ultra low cigerette.

As for flavors, there are Alot fo flavors out there. You will not find you Camel flavor(I know, I tried_ Camel smoker too).

I loved you post by the way, One part made me laugh.

Thanks for the reply-

I don't think I want an attempted mimic of the Camel flavor. When I smoke an analogue after having some puffs off the Blu, my Camel tastes like what I can only guess donkey .... would taste like....

Another part of the reason try and ditch the Camels. I'm thinking something just tabacco-ish flavored. Cleaner, a little touch sweet (I think the VG will take care of the sweet part) and a lot less donkey .... like.

I can't speak to the Riva or the carto kit. I recently did some research on this site myself and went with an eGo Twist with Stardust Vision clearomizers. Works well for me, but every model here seems to have their fans. One thing I can comment on is the juice flavors. I was a Camel smoker myself for 20 some years and my first juice order consisted of a bunch of 5ml packs of different flavors. Most were tobacco variants but I picked a few others on a whim. After trying eveything I was surprised to find that my favorite flavor was almond. Go figure. The only tobacco I still order is the Dekang RY4, and that one has more nutty, caramel notes with the tobacco taking a backseat. Really surprised myself with that. I suppose that it just finally dawned on me there is a reason no one is trying to make cigarette flavored candy. Anyway, my 2 cents is to get the widest range of flavors possible to start with. Good luck!

when i first started vaping, i bought the originial manual 510 starter kit with some blank carts and some random dekang juice. things have changed alot in the vaping community since then. my recommendation for a beginner is the ego twist, which is a great way to find out what voltage works for you at a relatively low cost, juice suppliers have sampler packs of flavor for pretty cheap, and you can get a 5 pack of disposable cartomizers for around 7 bucks. some shops have a starter kit with all of the above.

oh, and poison from rawr vapor at 4.8 volts on the twist is as close to actual tobacco i ever found. good luck,

Boy, I really identified with finally having everything click. I recently felt like I had a knowledge breakthrough with some help from some of the nice people here on ECF. I was reading and reading but after some clear photos and some videos and some effort of walking me through the stuff I was confused on, I finally got it:)

Can't tell you much about the gear you are looking at but enjoy the adventure.

Hey Kashi. I'm also a newb and like you I've spent days and days browsing this ECF reading reviews, reading suggestions for beginners, checking in on some of the more experienced posters, looking at charts and trying to understand what the hell everyone is talking about.

So, on January 1, I ordered an eGo-C Twist 1000mah battery and mini nova clearomizer as well as various juices from different ECF vendors. I've already switched to the Kanger T2 and just ordered the new T3 clearomizer and discovered that despite smoking Marlboro Menthol lights, I don't really like the tobacco juice. I'm currently vaping Constant Vapor's Double Apple 18mg and really enjoying that!

Welcome to ECF and best of luck! Everyone I've met on this forum has been so helpful!

Also started with eGo C-twist and Kanger T2 clearo's. Great way to start. Get a good strong battery(1,000mah + ) so it will last most or all day between charges.

I've recently upgraded for more flavor and vapor production. BUT, I've been able to stay off cigs just using the eGo setup. I couldn't recommend smaller units, but you had a fairly light cig habit to start with. A Pass-thru unit is also useful - allows you to vape while charging.

If you have a local shop, you could pop in, check out their gear, and sample some flavors.

Good Luck and Best Wished. Enjoy ! :thumb:

Do you think I will have clogging problems using the ego c-twist and VG juice?

I'm fairly new as well (10 days strong!) but your juice mix doesn't have too much to do with your battery. VG is thicker so some cartos/clearos that you connect to the battery might have issues. I don't do anything more than 50/50 PG/VG so I can't say.

If you're trying to quit smoking though you may want to hold off on high VG juices as PG+nicotine are what give you the "throat hit."

In my experience its also good to have a 24mg bottle of juice and then your "normal" juices that you vape more often. If the urge to have tobacco gets too strong.. take some hits off the 24mg juice.

Good luck.

Also pretty new - but I use the Twist and have used 100% VG and 60VG/40VG juice. As mentioned above it is not so much the Twist, but what you use with it. I have used the CE4 (stardust), the Kanger T2, Kanger T3 and the Vivi Nova and all have worked - although I have the most problem with the CE4.

I also think it does make a difference with the high VG on how it is made. I think the juices I have are thinned a little and the vendor has indicated that a few drops of distilled water can be used if having problems in a device.

Halo Torque 56 is advertised as an unfiltered cigarette which i can agree with, cigarette like with a sweet`ish exhale sort of like raspberry? i enjoy it, also Halo Tribeca is very nice morish in fact nice and sweet complex juice.
in my short experience vaping the twist would be the perfect start, my 1100mah standard eGo battery lasts all day is 1inch longer than a 650mah battery, But i cant change the volatge so it only performs well with the tanks that came with it. On my Vivi Nova i must use the 2.8ohm head. The lower ohm heads burn the juice with this battery that tastes foul.
Enj:blush:y your first eCig

The "Ego" is the battery. The Juice (vg/pg/whatever) fits in your cartomizer or clearomizer. No eliquid will ever be to think for the clearo/cartos on the USA market.

The junk that doesnt work, doesn't get sold by our vendors anymore. Your best bet is really to find a starter kit. They know what they are doing when they put it together.
