When it comes to cleaning the gunk out of a dead or dying atomizer, and I am not an expert at by any means, but would a very high level of directed heat do any good? I have a basic understanding on how an atomizer gets clogged more or less, if you were to take a magnifying glass on a sunny day and direct the suns heat onto a clogged atomizer, would it burn some of the stuff off it and do some good? I know it would burn very hot, I used to fry bugs with this method :D I have 1 dead atomizer and 1 nearing the end of its lifespan. I tend to think outside the box sometimes, and am thinking about trying it. I would love any input on this to see if its even worth wasting (or not) my time, as to me, it seems stupid but maybe interesting to try.

Nobody has answered this ? for me yet, so I'll ask again for the zillionth time:

How are you people abusing your atomizers to get them all gunked/clogged/whatever up?

Mine are still working fine without any bathing or cooking in this crap or that crap. I don't even let it drain over night. I occasionally blow it out with compressed air.

I'm in the same position as you are. My attys are lasting at least a month, with very heavy vaping.

The atomizer issue has not been solved yet. Everyone has their procedures, but nothing positive has come up yet as far a I know.

Go for it! You may want to check the dead one first, before wasting time, trying to cook off the gunk. If the coil is burnt out, no amount of gunk removal will help it.

Thanks for the advice. The one that doesnt work I was using for a while, as ive tried rather unsuccessfully to quit analogs until the beginning of this week :). Im on my 2nd atomizer for the 801 and my original 901 atomizer is still kicking now into 2 months of vaping (got it on ebay). I have plenty spares in reserve, but would love to find an off-way to fix an atty mostly for those who dont have a lot of spares, as Id love to contribute to the e-cig community if I can. Its been cloudy lately and I have yet to get a magnifying glass, but I shall post back when I give it a shot :)

I agree with Skyward on the wick-burnout, causing atomizer deaths. A flooded pot is easy enough to rectify with canned air but if the wicking is shot, no amount of heat or current is going to fix that. The atty is done.

I just pulled apart another older 306a atty and the wicking was black dust. Only the coil itself remain after a little agitation. I've toyed with the idea of using material and rewind the wire but nobody seems to know exactly what material is being used. Until then I'll just keep growing my burnt out atomizer collection. I go through 1 every 2-3 weeks.

A wickless design if engineered, could last as long as your kitchen toaster, in theory.

Thats a good point. The heat from a magnifying glass would have too high a temp probably, and burn out the atty if it isnt burned out already. I may still try it soon cause the atty is dead anyways hehe. This atomizer tech is far from perfect as we all know, someone will come up with a better way to make these as long as the free market still exists :)

a wickless design...i have a 306, if any of my attys go out due to wick depletion, I will definitely start tinkering. I can already picture a design with a wick, but not a cloth that is susceptible to "dry" heat charring. i think it would also resolve the issue of some carts only using 75% of the liquid...good call man. I'll come here first thing if i am able to come up with any prototypes
