Innokin is proud to announce the launch of our first Temperature Control device, the all new Innokin CORTEX!

The technology behind the CORTEX has been under research & development with industry partners for over 15 months and is now ready to give you an unforgettable vaping experience.

The CORTEX integrates new Innokin temperature technology and is powered by the IKARNO S1 chip. The CORTEX has four key advantages:

1) Ultra-low Static Power Consumption
The CORTEX has an unrivaled average quiescent dissipation of 50nA. Theoretically this means the device can remain on standby for up to 65,000,000 hours / 7500 years. With such an ultra-low dissipation, the engineering teams worked together to even further improve long term energy conservation, and improve the quality of the device.

2) Precision Temperature Control: ±10 ℃
Innokin has been researching and developing this Temperature Control extensively with the goal of offering a vaporizer and chipset that is extremely affordable, while also delivering top of the line accuracy and output precision. Incredibly, the new IKARNO S1 chip is accurate to ±10℃ in real temperature testing and future versions are expected to reduce the range even further to ±2 ℃!

3) High Efficiency: 99%.
The CORTEX is designed for high efficiency. The efficiency of the Innokin CORTEX is above 90% in operation and the maximum conversion rate registered was 99% at peak. This means there is a very low reactive loss which reduces the surface temperature of the device and thus conserves energy.

4) Direct Current – Steady Power Output
DC vs. pulse are 2 different methods of temperature control which deliver very different vaping experiences. Pulse output is discontinuous and less accurate as the temperature of the coil fluctuates throughout vaping. Direct Current delivers very accurate output along with smoother, controlled, changes in coil temperature for the very best vaping experience. Experience the next level of advanced power & precise direct current output for real Temperature control and vape like never before with the new Innokin CORTEX and IKARNO S1.

Available soon at your favorite Authorized Innokin Vendor.

Woot! Congratz, Ash and Innokin! Looking forward to hearing more about it when it gets out to reviewers.

Is it an internal battery or is it a removable batt?
Is it set up for Ni only, or does it also use Ti and/or SS?
And two much desired features are upgradable firmware and adjustable TCR for various wire types. Does it have either of those features?

Thanks VapingTurtle. It is an eternal battery 3300mAh, and the Cortex does Ti, Ni & SS. Unfortunately, we don't have upgradeable firmware options available for the Cortex.

The DistrupterTC will also be available soon, with it being sent out to top reviewers and customers early 2016. That will feature Kanthal TC. ;)

1; ultra low static power consumption.
well that's a nice to have i suppose

2; precision temperature control;
....... i dunno;;;; why does somebody think that is important;
no mention of requirement for nickel or titanium? does your temperature control work with kanthal or other wire?

3: high efficiency
nice to have

4: Direct Current
!

!

Okay that's an eyebrowraiser! And you got high efficiency along with the direct current?!
I don't know how relevant this direct current thing is in the vaping experience, but it sounds like a major technological achievement

the Cortex does Ti, Ni & SS.
Great!

You'll need to find out and let us know what kind of SS it is tuned for. There are so many different grades of SS, and their TC characteristics vary.

Does this mean that the Cortex will not do kanthal TC like the DisrupterTC?

Nothing can really do TC with Kanthal unless it has a built-in temperature probe in the atty. Kanthal's resistance does not vary with temperature enough to be accurately measured.

Thanks edyle. This device won't work with Kanthal TC due to Kanthal's resistance changes being too minuscule for current tech to calculate. Our DistrupterTC will have Kanthal TC, but will utilise a different technology than the Cortex.

Direct current is definitely a game changer in current TC technology as current chips use PWM.

This is SO exciting!!! I have been waiting since forever for an Innokin TC device, and I wasn't expecting something with new tech! It sounds like the battery life on this one is going to be amazing, which is something I have come to expect from an Innokin device. Thank you for the info, and I can't wait to hear even more about it!! :)

Yet Ash's response clearly indicates that the DisrupterTC will be capable of reading an atty with Kanthal TC, so I was wondering if such would be the case for the Cortex, hence the question that I asked (and was answered).

Count, it will not be TC. Like the iSolo, with Kanthal it will be some sort of wick burn protection, but unless it has a proprietary atty with a temp sensor and additional electrical connections for the temp sensor, it will not be TC as is currently capable with Ti, Ni, and SS.

The Distrupter TC will not be like the iSolo or like current TC technology. We will be using a proprietary connection & the atty will have a temp sensor. I've used the DTC myself and it works very well, we maybe licensing our DTC chip and have other companies build DTC atomisers too!

What kind of wire does the iSub series coils use? Will the Cortex work with them as far as TC?

Kind of a bummer on the Disrupter TC, I was looking forward to a release this year:(
