I just broke my second DNA20 board while building a mod. The flimsy ribbon that attaches to the screen seems to come apart with the slightest movement. Anyone else experience this problem, or better yet have a solution for reinforcing the flimsy ribbon? At this rate I think it will be cheaper to buy a production DNA20 mod, but that would'nt be any fun :D

Ok, so i just finished up my first dna 20 mod 3 days ago, all is well. No issues at all. works great. So i started on my next one because i got my first DNA20 board/chip from a trade. This one is new never used until I wired this one up. wired it the same way, same buttons. turns on fine. wattage adjust fine. fires fine but as soon as i screw a atomizer or carto etc. the wattage just goes down all the way to 7w as if im holding the down button. Nothing touching the on board buttons, tried disconecting the down button, still does it. but if I unscrew atty it stop lowering wattage. It does not have any error messages on screen, if I hold up button it just stays at that number but if i unscrew atty the numbers go up/screw back on atty ,numbers go down. If i fire it when they are going down it stays at that wattage until I let go of fire button and it DOES vape. Im am lost. has any one had this issue?? any solutions??? I silder fine, I have build plent mods before. Im thinking its the board, I un soldiered all the wires. re soldiered new atty wires and battery wires and tried it. Same thing. I used the on board up/down buttons to get it up to 20 wats. screwed a atty on. Down it goes as if im holding the down button. What does the atomiazer have to do with the down wattage ?? As i said im lost. banging my head on the bench. some one help please

I found that superglue isn't really strong enough to secure the ribbon wire so I put some epoxy under it between the ribbon and the board. I also put some on the other end of the ribbon where it attaches to the screen. Lately I have also been strain relieving the whole thing with a strip of kapton tape the length of the screen, ribbon and onto the board.

And THEN I am very careful with it! lol

Only thing I can think of is you have some connectivity between the atty circuit and the down circuit, they are adjacent on the board.

Benda,

I had the same exact issue, tried everything with no success, wattage would scroll down to 7 everytime I hit the fire button. I thought it was a defective board and e-mailed Brandon at evolve. He replaced it. Unfortunately, the screen ripped off that one. For me the DNA20 is too flimsy. Need to find a new variable power board.

mine fires fine. it goes down to 7 before i even hit fire button. it happens as soon as i screw a atty on. if i unscrew it while its scrolling down , it stops scrolling. i tried removing all the wires and putting on new atty wires and battery wires. before i did that i cleaned all the old soldier of, used new atty and battery wires. used on board buttons to raise wattage. screwed on atty , down it goes, unscrew while its scrolling down. it stops, but it will fire and stay at the wattage while hitting fire

Needle and thread ...

Holes on either side of the ribbon....

Loop, loop, and loop some more, finish with a DNA fisherman's knot, the back through the middle. :)

I finished up my DNA20 mod last night and the up function was not working. An hour in I figured out the "Up" solder point for the external button was dead / open connection. Using a meter there was no continuity with the onboard button and the "Up" solder pad!

Send a email to evolve, they will make it rite, but ask for a phone call back. thats what i did. he called the same day. told him I lost my receipt. He told me not to worry about it. the customer service at evolve is great. Also I noticed you are from boston. I am from boston. good to see another vapor in my area
