Sign, sign.

Wasn't that long ago I was the inexperienced Vaper. I am admittedly far from the Sharpest Knife in the drawer, just a determined person.
I had no issue Learning everything possible about each step before taking it.
Some just assume they can walk on water or fly with a towel tied around the neck.

I will continue attempting to Educate those types, hopefully before they get hurt.:?:

* It is as reasonable to assume any unknown may present a risk/danger as it is to assume nothing in particular is dangerous.
The rational person investigates and becomes educated.
The irrational person gets Blown up or writes a Bill to ban. :grr:

Even with Owners Manuals, Safety Regulations, Stickers/signs all over:
Push mower accident - Google Search
Back in 2002, I purchased a Toro gas powered lawn mower. The owner's manual had a slew of warnings on what not to do with the mower. One of the warnings, along with an illustration, warned the user not to lift the mower off the ground to trim your hedges with it. All I could think is somewhere, someone must have actually tried that if the manufacturer is warning people not to do that.

Yes

Yes I did.

However... so did someone else and apparently it didn't turn out so well.

I can top that.
Awhile back I bought a bag of peanuts out of a vending machine.
The warning on the bag was literally: "ALLERGY WARNING! THIS PRODUCT MAY CONTAIN PEANUTS OR A PEANUT INGREDIENT."

Does someone really need to be told there may be peanuts in a bag of peanuts????

I think that stupid people need to be placed on an Endangered Species List. We could instead of placing warning labels on any and everything, Tatoo the word Stupid on their forehead. This would alert all in close proximity of them to be aware that an act of stupidity could occur at any moment. This could reduce the reaction time required to protect them and keep their 'species' from becoming extinct. After all without the stupid people where would Politicians come from.;)

it looks like there are some candidates already out there LOL

These stories always make me think of the warnings on plastic bags that remind you they are not toys. Adults shouldn't need that reminder, yet they put it on them to avoid lawsuits from people not willing to accept responsibility for their own lack of common sense.
The battery is NOT an "ecig battery" it's just rechargeable battery, also used for flashlights and other hobby needs. If he had a spare battery for use with his flashlight loose in his pocket and it vented, would we have the same "news" story and reactions to it? It's a shame that things like this happen from time to time. More often than not these situations are completely avoidable.

I love the warnings on my hairdryer that tell me not to use it in the shower, or while sleeping. I wonder who the person (persons?) were that thought it was a good idea to start drying their hair while standing under the shower. Or the person that thought they'd just aim that hot air gun at their head, turn it on, and go to sleep. I can't imagine...

Of course.

"A peanut ingredient" simply cannot stand alone in the warning. It needs a precursor. Hence "this product may contain peanuts".

It's so obvious.

Isn't it?

I'm a little surprised at the lack of sympathy here for the horrific burns this person suffered. The media reported this irresponsibly, sure. But anyone can make a mistake. I absent minded put a battery in my pocket before now, and it shorted. A mistake I will never repeat. It got very hot very quickly. But this does not indicate stupidity. Naivity, absent mindedness, maybe.
I think people laying into someone who hurt himself so badly should be ashamed of themselves. They shame the whole community.
A little humanity never hurt anyone.

I guess I'm a bad person cause the images of people with shorting batteries in their pants makes me chuckle.

The burns are a result of the polyester sweat pants, which are very flammable. A lit cigarette could have given the same results. Or working too close to a stove whole cooking. You don't put an ignition source in the pocket of flammable clothing.

That said, you are owning the mistake you made. The guy in the story is blaming everyone but himself.
