Partially, but I put more blame on the parent who leaves a child's education totally up to the system.

The victim mentality, gotta love it

Don't get me wrong, this was an adult who was responsible for his own dumb actions.

We were once taught to use critical thinking. That has been eliminated from the classroom.

I partially blame the extremely weak educational system we have today.
Yep.

Amazing what we're capable of when our curiosity is nourished.

This guy is 4 now and reads at an adult level...

He should be ready to skip kindergarten and go straight to 3rd grade by this time next year.

I have an 11 year old son that skipped two grades, taught himself to play piano at 5 and today plays a fender strat.
He's in an independent study program.
We teach him.
The schools aren't equipped to educate him.

The schools aren't equipped to educate *the general population let alone a prodigy*.

Kids will learn anything they're interested in. Difficulty bows to interest and determination.

Challenges should be exciting.

Our school systems don't allow for keeping the kids attention and getting them excited about knowledge.

I love the way the government names programs like no child left behind. It should actually be called no child allowed to excel :grr:

Then there's the affordable care act...

Sorry, got a bit :offtopic:

The problem of course is less the stupidity of the user and more the way it's reported. It's one of those things where the message is being pushed by people who don't understand what they are reporting on. Which is all a complicated way to say that we have to educate. The dudes at the local shop I've been going to are great about that. I've been in a couple times to pick up spare batteries and they almost won't let me walk out the door without a cover for the thing. Of course, we have the advantage because we're armed with the truth. :)

No, it's the way the media rely on ad revenue and the more clicks an article gets, the more money they earn. Shock, scandal, sex and disaster sells.

Couple this with every Tom, Dick and Harry wanting to have their 15 minutes of fame and the prospect of earning a bit of dosh for their tale of woe (even if they're responsible for it) and we have the articles you see in the opening post.

Guess what??? I just finished a one hour plus session with a young lass who just brought a Cuboid and Uwell Crown tank as her first set of ecig. I have to explained "everything" to her. The guy (I presumed a guy, but I could be wrong) told her nothing except that this is good. She didn't even know what type of batteries and he said she could charge it via usb, no problem !!!
But at least she's willing to give up smoking stinkies.
Edit: imho, Crown ... not for beginners

Well, I'll just say that I agree with you. I think it's both. They don't understand it and therefore it must be destroyed.
In which case, I have to agree with you too :D
If the Govt. would just ban coins & spare change, all would be safe..p
And metal keys? Lol

I have Libertarian leanings, so I'm really against the lack of accountability that runs amok. But I'm also a realist in that a retailer that sells you something as 100% safe and tells you as a beginner there is no research nor education required also bears some responsibility.
