Here is another diagram with the twisted wires. I also have too much time on my hands.

This is precisely how I came up with to make coils for the VIVI Nova. The legs are twisted with silver so there are no hot spots in the grommet or through the tube. The coil (between the two twisted legs) is the where the heat is.

Been thinking about this also. So the answer is 1 ohm? Is that right?

No resistance wire is just that. Since you are effectively "shorting out" the resistance wire in the legs, what you are looking at is around one ohm.
