... Is there anything else I should add to the order as far as backups? How long can I expect an atty to last? I'm guessing I should get some blank carts to try out different e-juices with? As I have the order configured now, I'm still sitting at almost 30 bucks less than my GS starter kit. :)

I would pick up a Pack of Blank Filler type Cartomizers and some small bottles of 50%PG:50%VG 24mg e-liquids in different flavors.

Maybe something like this.

AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | 510 Black Dual Coil Mega Cartomizer, 5 Pack

I'm not a huge fan of PCCs. I would rather spend the money on an extra eGo battery but to each there own.

BTW - The eGo was a Great choice. Having a 510 threaded PV lets you choose many different options for Cartos and Attys.

Blargh! After reading dormouse's reply, I think I've changed my mind and am going with Liberty-Flight's Riva 510 lite bundle, the price is great. Couple the cheap startup cost with the 20% discount and that's even more of my budget left over for accessories and juices! Seems like a win/win to me. Now to figure out the rest of the goodies to go along with this.

I've delt with both LF and AS and they are both good companies.

I like LF because they are kinda a one stop shop and have good prices and shipping costs.

If you go the LF route, I would pick up a 5 pack of the SmokeTec 2.0 ohm Cartomizers with your Riva Kit.

Ok, I think I've got it. Going with LF. Getting the Riva 510 lite bundle, which is 2 attys, 2 batts, 10 blank carts, and charges and a case. I've added another battery instead of looking for the PCC (thanks for that suggestion Zoid!), a 5 pack of the Dual Coil Smok Tech Cartomizers. With all that, plus 4 5m juice bottles, I'm spending almost half of what I would have on the GS. I went with the PG juice on Dormouse's suggestion. Knowing I can be bad about cleaning/upkeep, figured that would probably be better than the VG since from what I understand that's thicker and can leave more residue? Regardless, I'm really excited about my purchase, and feel much better about the money I'm spending than I did previously. Everyone was a great help here, and definitely made this transition and learning experience much more enjoyable!

Yes, VG juices don't do well in cartomizers. You can get PG/VG blends that still work well as long as you keep the VG to around 20-30%. If the PG is pre-thinned you can go higher, and you can thin VG juices yourself with water and/or a bit of PGA. I prefer a PG/VG blend myself because it still gives me a good TH and flavour while cranking up the vapor production some.

I think it sounds like a Very Nice and complete set-up.

Now you see why I tell people that I became a "Supporting Member" here because of all the money I have saved over the last year and a half.

BTW - Not sure if anyone mentioned this or not. You get a 49 cent credit on future orders for each item you review at LF. Doesn't sound like a lot but it adds up over time.

Wow, I wouldn't have known about the reviewing discount! I'll definitely keep that in mind once the order gets here. Thanks for that! I did add 3 more juices, after my last post >.> As a previous menthol smoker, I was shying away from tobacco flavors, since I didn't think they sounded appealing (was imagining that burnt ash taste) but I guess they're not like that at all? Did get a 5ml of RY4 though since that seemed to have a lot of great reviews. I'll give the GS tobacco flavor a shot to see what they're really like now for sure.

I started making my own juice. I take TW 36mg flavorless and mix it with VG glycerine bought at Michelle’s hobby store. It's the same crap they use for making cakes and pastry decorations. I mix 10 drops of 36mg and 18 of glycerin and 1 drop of water. This gives you a dose that is equal to a light cigarette at about .642 mg per drop. Load each cartridge with 12 to 15 drops which equals to a little over a half of pack of cigs. I do this because all the flavorings are irritants therefore this is a clean hitting mix that doesn't taste the burnt monkey .... Thouht's???

No problem...

I didn't know about it either for a long time. I kept seeing this Unused Review Discount on the cart screen when I would place an order. Once day I figured it out.

I had like 40 items which was worth 20 bucks.

Anyway. Do some reading on the ECF about how to fill your carts and cartos and don't forget to rinse/dry out your New Attys in hot water before you use them.

So, I think I've come to a decision. I'm looking at getting the eGo Starter kit from altsmoke.com which comes with 2 batteries, 2 attys, 5 pre-filled carts and the other basics. I added the PCC so I could charge at work if/when necessary. Is there anything else I should add to the order as far as backups? How long can I expect an atty to last? I'm guessing I should get some blank carts to try out different e-juices with? As I have the order configured now, I'm still sitting at almost 30 bucks less than my GS starter kit. :)

I also came real close to ordering the green smoke kit. That is before finding this great board.

I wound up going with the Joye 510T kit, along with extra parts and such. The extra parts and such included an auto battery, and low resistance atty. I think I prefer the manual battery. Still working on that, LOL.

While the atty's that come with the 510T kit are good, the low resistance one I ordered is even better. I've had zero problems so far with leaking, sucking juice, and such from any of them, but the hit from the low resistance is a bit better. Really easy to hit, not much different than a drag from an analog to me.

I really, really like the tank system, but for me, I prefer the smaller 510T. It gives consistent vapor from full to nearly empty, and wicks perfectly. Makes sampling different juices easy as well. As far as battery life is concerned, I have three now and will order a couple more just to have around.

So a quick update, since I can't start a new thread.

It's been 2 weeks now, and aside from a couple bummed smokes when my battery died and I hadn't brought a backup with me, it's been going excellent.

I've taken like a fish to water with vaping. I really enjoy my Riva, and I'm really excited about vaping in general. In these two weeks, I'm starting to feel better. I'm loving the fact that I can brush my teeth in the morning and my mouth feels nice and clean all the way to lunch. Granted, I might have slightly fruity or vanilla-y breath, it's much preferred to ashtray mouth. Not to mention, my taste and smell are coming back. Having had surgery on my nose in the past, I feel my sense of smell is somewhat diminished without smoking, however, it still has gotten to be a more vibrant world scent wise.

My breathing is feeling better. I mean, I never felt I had too many issues with breathing yet, but considering it had been over 20 years of analogs, I can feel an improvement. It's almost weird. I feel like I'm breathing too shallow now, and when I take a deep breath, it still surprises me how I can breath more air in than I used to. :D

My throat doesn't burn anymore. It does get a little dry, but nothing a couple swigs of water don't fix. Again, much preferred to the near constant soar throat I had back when smoking. Not to mention the dry/soar throat I woke up with nearly every day.

So all in all, I can say, e-cigs are a tremendous success for me. One thing I've definitely learned through this is more than anything my addiction to smoking was seeing the smoke come out on the exhale. I never cared for the taste much, and didn't really like the way it made me feel.

So now my future e-cig mission is going to be to A. Find my favorite flavors, and B. Find the best setup to make clouds and clouds of delicious vapor.

Thanks again to all the help and encouragement I've found here. You all are wonderful!

Excellent, glad to hear it's been a resounding success! Yeah, there are some things you need to adjust to, but like you I found the adjustments were incredibly minor beside the simple fact that I wasn't smoking cigarettes anymore. I drink a lot of water anyway so the dry mouth and throat has never really been a problem for me.

Best clouds of vapor are going to come from something with a decent amount of VG (around 30% or more) with a suitable tank/hybrid that can handle it, and higher (or variable) voltage vaping. You'll make so many clouds you'll have to hire your own meteorologist to find out what the weather will be like in your living room in the morning.
