Hello everybody my name is Al and Im having a few issues since taking up vaping about a month ago. Im currently on two different medications which are effexor and remeron. When I first started about a month ago I can say I had no issues until a week past and then the anxiety kicked in. After reading I tried 100vg because the pg was making my throat very itchy and making me feel weird. I have noticed that on the vg it is not as bad but I still have the anxiety just not as bad. I ordered wta and did notice that I felt good with this juice. It does not take very long for my anxiety to kick in I would say after about 5-6 drags and then I feel it. I asked the doc and she thinks it might be the fact that Im still smoking analogs two here and there but she wasnt sure because she wasnt familiar with vaping. Ok also I do drink coffee in the morning which has never been a issue and I only have about 2 glasses of water a day. Please keep in mind Im not vaping that much probably a total of 20-30 drags a day. This has become very frustrating to me because I have not had any issues with my anxiety for a while until now. Any advice will be appreciated.

Nic is a stimulant so it can cause anxiety. It triggers it for me sometimes but to a much lesser degree than caffeine does. I'd say give up (or switch to half calf or decalf) the caffeine and reduce or go to 0 nic until the anxiety passes. Since quitting smoking I've had to give up coffee and vape 6mg or less to keep the anxiety in check. Was never a problem until I quit, but who knows what they put in tobacco that keeps anxiety from triggering so easily. Probably lots of stuff lol.

I don't know why you are taking it and it's a private matter but one thing effexor is used for is to treat depression. Most e-cigs I have seen say not to take them if you are taking depression medications. I don't know why that is, but if it has something to do with side-effects mixing the chemicals in e-cigs with those in those kinds of medications, you don't want to be doing that! So if I were you I'd figure that out pretty quickly, and if might even stop smoking e-cigs until I figured it out. Unfortunately your doctor is probably unlikely to know, as e-cigs are such a niche product. Google might be of some help, or perhaps members here. Good luck.

I tried vaping @ 6 but my craving was high like I wasnt getting enough. Im using the 6 at night due to me waking up worst if I vape 12 before going to bed. Like you said no telling what they add to that stuff.[

Hi almaga,
There are a number of things going on for you. Firstly, if you have been on those medications less than three months it may be side effects from those. Then there's the wta - not sure why you ordered that or why you felt you needed it. And then there is the cigarettes and coffee.
If you were vaping ok for three weeks with no anxiety then it suggests to me that vaping is not the cause.
You can tell your doctor what you are vaping - which is VG and nicotine. If you are still using wtas in your juice you need to let the doctor know that too. I get the sense that vaping is not the only issue for you.

ETA: Please see wilfra's post above also.

May I ask what vaping device you're using? I started with a v2 cig-a-like. Many newcomers start with the cig looking device. I recently switched to a Joye eGo Twist and a Mini Vivi Nova, and I'm getting much more satisfaction from it.

Next, since you're using 12 mg, I would try this, get a bottle of 24 mg juice of the same thing you're using now, and if it's too strong, mix it 50/50 with the 12 mg juice you have now. Just a thought.

If you're using a cig like, don't throw those carts away, they can be refilled. Use the little boot that comes on them, and fill it about 2/3 full, then SLOWLY push the cart down into it. If you see juice come out the top of the cart, it's full. You can also take a paper clip, stick it in the end to pull off the plastic cap and drop about 15 drops inside, Be careful not to drip juice into the center hole.

Oops forgot im currently on 12mg

Tomorrow it will have been 3 weeks since I quit. The first few days were the worst because I was anxious. I definitely went through withdrawal but the nic was giving me straight up giving me panic attacks lol. I'm sure quitting didn't help the anxiety. I also had the issue where the PG was irritating my sinuses.

That first week I vaped 0mg VG and just rode it out. The withdrawal wasn't as bad as I imagined it might be. 6mg doesn't satisfy me as much as 12mg might but I'm finding that heading into week 3 that it's satisfying me more & more because my body's getting used to having less. And it doesn't trigger anxiety.

Another thing you might want to try is those calming shots. Like the kind you find in convenience stores. They do help take the edge off. Ask your doctor if they're ok to take with your medications first though. They usually contain melatonin and some herbs which may or may not be safe with medication.

Its weird because when I was on the gum I never had this problem. I tried asking my doc but she really s didnt have a whole lot of information but she did say that some people that had asma inhalers had anxiety due to the inhaling I have no clue where she was going with that because I inhale cigs? I really enjoy vaping but I cant deal with the panic stuff I have not had these in so long and I didnt miss them one bit lol.

When you vape your body is looking for more then just the nicotine fix when you start and for some people its very difficult to get over this need. Your body is looking for all the other stuff you get when you smoke and its simply not there for you. When you used the WTA you were getting the effects that came closer to resembling smoking a cigarette. We all react differently to things and for some reason your body is choosing right now to feel axiety when vaping without all the additives in cigarettes You may have found your own answer by using WTA, so use it ;)

You also need to drink lots more water if you are going to vape. Dehydration is not a good thing and vaping does dehydrate us even if not vaping a large amount.

You could also try lowering your nicotine level to see if that helps. You often see people recommending raising the nic level for people having problems when they first start but sometimes people need just the opposite. It certainly couldn't hurt to give it a try. :)

I agree I guess WTA might be the only thing my body likes. I did use that alone for a day or so and seemed to be doing alot better. I guess I was hoping that all the VG would do the same:confused:. I will try the WTA alone this week and see if thats what happens and keep you guys posted. I really appreciate all the feedback.

I'm not a doctor but I would recomend taking your juice, in the bottle with the label on it and show it to your doctor. The label should list the ingredents in the juice. See if there might be something in it that may cause this.

Wow, which ejuice companies list the ingredients on the label? None of my ejuice bottles have ingredients listed.

Nic is a stimulant so it can cause anxiety.…[it] Was never a problem until I quit, but who knows what they put in tobacco that keeps anxiety from triggering so easily. Probably lots of stuff lol.

Cigarette smoke contains MAOI antidepressants in very small doses. Mostly, though, it's habituation. When you started smoking, you probably didn't just smoke a pack a day.

OP, talk to your psychiatrist. You used to smoke, and the dose of nicotine you're getting from 20-30 drags a day is pretty freaking small. If it's not just withdrawal from cigarettes, there's something going on with your other medications.

Also, you're on two serotonergic antidepressants/anxiolitics and with quitting smoking, you also quit using at least one MAOI that was in the smoke. I'm not qualified to advise you about medicine, but I can think of a few ways that could cause the change you felt, especially if you haven't been on the SNRI (effexor) & NaSSA (remeron) for very long.

And if you're taking the antidepressants at the recommendation of a GP, find a psychiatrist. General practitioners do not know enough about psychiatry to figure out what's going on. Period.

Using the WTA for a while doesnt mean you will have to always use WTA. Its possible your body just needs more time to transitiion. Its takes time to find what works best for all of us when vaping. I'll look forward to reading what happens for you as you continue your journey into the wonderful world of vaping :)
