I played a ton back in the 70's, just field throwing for fun. Now playing with my son and daughter in the backyard. It's amazing after all these years that I still have a good arm and aim. Like you never forget how to ride a bike...

Things have changed I imagine, can someone point me to a place to shop for some quality discs please?

The 2 biggest manufacturers are Discraft and Innova. They are all I have in my bag for the most part. There are a ton of online retailers. Amazon is a good place to buy them.

If you haven't played much then one piece of advice is to try out some super stable drivers like the Avenger SS and Nuke SS. Innova's Mamba is another easy to throw long and straight driver (one of my faves for long straight shots). Not to get into too much detail but the many of the highest rated drivers on the market are tough to get used to. You need big arm technique (not the same as strong arm) to keep them from making a hard left if you are a righty and vice versa. The stable and understable discs make it much easier to throw far without having to throw hard.

Yeah, I'm seeing reviews of original Wham-o Frisbees over at Amazon saying they're just junk from China now. I'm just going to be doing casual backyard stuff, and have been liking a Poly disc with silicone edge wrap that I might've gotten at ....'s.

My kids are young and I'm trying to avoid the inevitable face smash that I remember, for now...

Hi I live up in the Brainerd lakes area! I haven't played brp yet! Haha what discs are you throwing?

    #rememberthebuster

I throw a mix of everything Innova, Disccraft, Legacy, MVP, but I am really liking Westside discs. Their discs are manufacturer by legacy, so you have an idea of what their plastic is like. The company is Finnish and that have a different throwing style that is more arm strength and glide vs spin and snap and it is very close to how I throw. The discs have a ton of glide on them!

I've played some disc golf in my day and I have to confirm this. Last time I was at a course I saw nothing but wooks.

But to answer OP's questions....yes I always enjoyed playing when I did. Need to go sometime in the future.

You can touch my tooter, smoocher... Love the Avatar JoppaRoadCruiser it just sucks that Ween is no more. Seems Aaron Freeman can't stay sober when playing with the band. Only been to 3 Ween shows but I loved them.

Oh man I miss ween shows. Life is not complete without the browness. I do have to say moistboyz and dean ween group are bringing the face melting rock though. Caught a moistboyz show here back in March and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Super small venue and crowd....very intimate show. And of course very brown. Highly recommend checking them out if you get a chance. Also check out this site...just went live this last week I believe. Excellent sound quality too.

I was on the ball golf team in high school and still like that sport.

But it is nowhere near as fun and reasonably challenging as disc golf. I like the direct connection with the object you are trying to get in rather than the indirect connection ball golf offers with club to ball.

I started disc golfing back in '87 and while it always has the hippy aspect going on, all the top pros I'm familiar with are as much of jocks as I've seen in other sports. Plus the camaraderie within the sport is awesome and second to none.

As far as vaping on the course(s), I do it about half the time. I have pull cart and my batts fit nicely in the pockets that come with that. I am also a dual user, and discing is one of the few times per week where I'll have 3 smokes in a day. Even while I disc almost every other day, I'm still at less than a pack a week, and so it is easily justifiable to do both, and enjoy both.

The amount of vapers is growing on courses I play at. A year ago, I saw maybe 5 people the whole season that vaped. Now I'll see that many each week at leagues.

Interestingly, the very first time I ever tried an eCig was when I was discing (in winter, in Wisconsin) and guy who was stranger to me had disposable kind. We ended up playing about 12 holes together. He bummed smokes from me and offered me to try his eCig. I tried a few puffs, liked it and knew from that moment that I at least wanted my own disposable to see how much I really might use it / enjoy it.

Looking to go out in about 2 hours to shoot a round, or two.
    Keep banging chains!

I know some people take this serious and its a legit thing for them... But I thought this was a joke thread and laughed when I saw it wasn't lol

It does sound like an "odd" sport but it's fun as heck. Just like with regular golf there is a primal pleasure in watching a perfect shot. The discs out there today are crazy accurate. When you practice enough they go exactly where you want depending on what you throw. Each disc has it's own purpose just like a club. It does sound goofy but it's really fun...and cheap.

I've seen guys throw 4-500' on drive. I've been stuck at 350' max but at least that's plenty far for most courses to get decent scores. I've hit 9 aces in 20 years of off and on playing. Sticking the chains from 300' is equally exciting as sticking a 200 yard par 3. Good times.

My MVP 2 must have at least a hundred rounds of golf on it. It can take a beating as it has taken several falls off the golf cart. Living in SC I can play golf all year round and MVP 2 is always with me.

Here in Wisconsin, we pride ourselves on playing disc golf year round. Have a few tournaments between Dec. 1st and Feb. 28th for those who like to play with snow on the ground.

I actually would rather play with snow on the ground than play on a rainy day. Though wind is still my #1 nemesis. I hate being cautious about a 10 foot putt cause of the wind.
