Any way to make a 0 nic liquid that still has a throat hit?

A smoker friend of mine is finally interested in vaping because he wants an elective surgery and the doc says if he tests positive for nic the procedure will be postponed. He asked me to hook him up. I made my usual recipe with 0 nic. There was no throat hit. What can I mix that has 0 nic but still has a throat hit?

Menthol, cinnamon, coconut all have throat hit to me. High pg like 60% or more even if it can be tolerated. Some also add a percent or two of 100 proof vodka to a 50/50 mix.

Some others that come to mind are lemonade, citrus etc.

Good idea. I'll try that for sure with my personal mix. The newbie is going to get a tank with replacable coils. I'd prefer an N mini because I know that one. I can't have it leaking on him so how far can I push the pg and not have the mix too thin?
