Just set up a new coil.. was much easier to fit the 3.5mm wick in the channels with the wire connections wrapped around the wick. The 3.5mm wick is still pretty tight, but there wasn't as much, if any, fraying.. so that's better! I think I made the wire connections much better as well, thanks Bishop.
Just wondering, though... the wire connections are pretty close to the coils, is that going to cause any issues? Not sure how hot they can get, if the silver will melt or anything like that.. thanks!

Oh yeah, something else I've noticed that's unrelated.. Every time I take my Ody apart to build a new setup I notice the center post is loose. I tighten it nice and tight every time with needle-nose pliers. I never want to force it too much in fear of breaking the ceramic, but it's certainly not loose. Any ideas why this is? Maybe I just need to turn it tighter, but it always seems really tight... just seems weird.

I also have that issue. I think when you dis-assembly the housing, it also loosing out the centre post as well.

Hey bish when I see ur vid u have a giant spool of nr, it's nickel right? I don't like using soft silver it always breaks on me, where did you get this spool? Thanks

I get spools on Ebay how ever you can buy the premade wires. I buy the spools becuase I vape at a different ohms. I love vaping at .6-.7 ohms with one battery. 4.2 volts

You need to tighten it more. The delrin and the oring will compress and absorb the pressure instead of the ceramic breaking. Delrin and plastic will also function as lock washers to place tension on threads to hold it from getting loose.

Yeah I kind of thought that was the case but I really didn't want to risk it.. I do have 2 spare ceramics now, though, so I can try to tighten it even more if it's loose again next time. Thanks :)

Another thing is.. I keep reading about people dry burning their coils when they get gunked up... I used to do this with SS mesh with some decent results, but it seems to not work so great with the silica, and it tastes a big wonky after (I'm sure it probably goes away, though?) - I've just been building new coils and wicks when they get gunked up, am I wasting material?

dry burn cant last more than 5-6 seconds per time sub. After 5 seconds make one more 5-6 seconds dry burn. Then one more. And while you do dry burn, blow air to the coil

Ok, I was always trying to literally burn off the gunk.
Maybe I'm not quite getting it still, but how is this any different than just simply vaping it? When I vape I hold the power down for about 5-6 seconds.

when you dry burn you can infuse the burnt flavor into the wick because it's dryer than with juice. Imeo has it right...give it power for about 6 second increments and when it starts actually getting dry, blow on the coil with short strong bursts. This will blow the funk off the coil and turn you coil red again. Once you coil is back to this state, make sure all of your wick is dry before priming with eliquid.
You probably shouldnt dry burn more than a couple of times before replacing the silica though because the silica starts to break down and can be inhaled as small fibers.

Ah ok, I got it.. I forgot to realize that the liquid wouldn't be wicking while dry burning (duh) :)

You may find it funny but I have never cleaned a wick in a gg. I find changing wick and coil on the ody and penny therapuetic. I even change coil and wick even if it is still good just for the heck of it. :D

I dont know how can be therapuetic my dear Justin, I always hate when I need to change the coil, thanks God my coils last at least two weeks but I never like to change it.

Have a nice day

I have had 2 coils/wicks going for 2+ months in Penelope's that I made on the same day. I'm proud to say they are still tasting like they did on day one. :) One is using a ready wire, and the other I made myself. I wonder how long they will last :)
I use my Ody for testing diy, so I change out the coil every couple of days or so.

Just great North! I agree that the most of the times we change coils just for fun and not because its nessesary:)

I really don´t understand that Imeo, because always I start changing the coils I am very nervous about how is going to be my coil, so when I have a nice coil that is working fine then I didn´t change it until die or have problems.

So why you liked so much to changed it if it´s working fine????????

Cheers

ahahaha, I dont really know fix. Maybe because I always have to do something or because I like to make experiments on how I can make it work even better

Tomorrow I only will try to get another coil, because I am so interested to know how Bish vapes with the twisted coils, so I wil change my excellent coil that I am using now to check it out and to see if it is possible to me to used these coils.

So thank you for everything you are doing for all of us and thanks for all the time that you invest in the research of these wonderfull atomizers.

Cheers
