First week, I vaped like crazy-mad. I had a sore throat and a headache, and finally figured out (after reading some more on this forum) that I was no doubt over-doing it on my nicotine. I stepped back to a medium nicotine solution, and I continued to vape away quite happily.
For a few days, I vaped less, but then I was right back up to vaping more than I had been smoking (no small feat when you consider I was a 2+ pack a day smoker). I modified my routine by using one e-cig with low nic and one with medium, and I'd basically stick with the low nic then move to the high nic when I felt the urge for an analog. Now I've added no nic to my repetoire.
I'm finding that no nic and low nic liquids satisfy my "habit"--the habit of picking something up and inhaling. However, when I start craving an analog, I realize it's time for something more powerful, and I go with a medium nic solution or sometimes even high. So far, it's working great, and I have reduced my overall nicotine intake even though I'm still vaping a lot.
Also, in the last few days, when I get the craving, I realize that I'm no longer thinking, "I want a cigarette," but, rather, I'm thinking, "I need some nicotine." That might not sound like a big difference, but for me it is. It shows that I'm really, truly moving away from analogs, and the longer I'm at this, the more likely that I won't pick up tobacco cigarettes again.
