I have just been using my wall plug. Will have to try the usb as I just bought mine. i did not buy from the same vendor but I think they are all the same. My vendor did state as with anything sometimes you get a bad one which is why they usually have a warranty of some sort. I know one of my attys did not work so I need to send back for another one.

I have two wall units, the unit that plugs into the wall socket and has a usb plug on the side. One of them stays green all the time, the other stays red all the time.

I think it is just to show that it is powered up when plugged into 110v.

As a side note, the "green" lighted one will power my 5v pt, but the other one doesn't. Looked at the labels and there is a 500mah difference between the two. But have not experienced any difference when charging my ego type batts.

I just got my (very first) set-up yesterday, put the battery onto the usb charger, the plugged the charger piece into the wall plug, then the wall plug to extension cord already plugged to wall socket.
Battery flashed as per directions, and little red light came on...I left the battery charging for 2 hours and noted it seems to "talk"
the little light on the usb charger blips from red to green, back to red, green...rather quickly...I choose to leave the battery plugged in for the complete charge and it seems to be just fine. The second battery I left charging for over 4 hours, simply because I forgot about it, LOL
Is it possible some folks are seeing the flash of green as it is charging and think its ready to go?

not sure if it was mentioned anywhere else in the thread but i noticed recently with my eGo charger that it now takes a good 30 seconds or so after i connect a battery to the charger for the light to turn red. At first I thought my problems were much like those being reported in this thread. Tried reconnecting the battery, making sure i hooked up the cable to the usb port first then screwing in the battery a solution i saw mentioned here. Well I was getting pretty frustrated cuz i had one dead battery which apparently wouldn't charge and another which i had been vaping on for a few hours and I was beginning to sweat it out. I put the battery on the USB hookup one more time and just then my phone rang. Half distracted i let the battery sit while talking and as I'm sitting there pondering the green light, it finally changed to red. Like i said it took a while, at least 30 seconds, possibly longer. Ever since then if i am just patient enough the light will change and the battery will charge.

Hope that solves a few problems.

I have an eGo starter from LF as well. Have had the following issues.

1. When using a car adapter to use the USB charger, seems as tho it doesn't want to charge it fully. but will get a charge enough to last 4 or so hours.

2. The factory USB charger is faulty. In almost all of these models. I've noticed if I clean both the battery and charger with alc do be free of debris it works 9/10 times.

3. If you are not getting the light to go from green to red after the battery flashes 5 times. unscrew it and try it again, sometimes i give the charger a lil tap and WALA.

but what you have described surely sounds like a faulty battery or bad connection. also as stated almost all factory chargers seem to have the issues of sometimes not wanting to charge. try try again. also contact LF

When I do a full charge of about 2 hours on the fast usb charger in my PC I get about 22 hours of CONSTANT vaping.

When I use the wall charger for 2 hours I only get about 16 hours of constant vape.

Avoid using a PCC charger, as it has damaged my 1 eGo battery and I cannot no matter what I do get my 1 battery to charge by any means for longer than 8 hours now. Not sure why the PCC has effected my battery after using it for 3 days, but it has def lessened the capacity of the battery.

Seriously, these battery chargers are very poorly made, and thats putting it nicely! It can make it real stressful and even compromising for someone trying their hardest to quit smoking! Having faulty equipment and having to order and wait days for replacements really sucks.

But when they say "Try, try, again" thats the truth...

I thought my battery was dead after 1 week. No response from the charger. Tried everything I could think of and nothing, still wouldnt go from green to red? I finally ordered a new charger, and then my charger started working!, of course now its not working again  but at least I now have a backup.

(I wonder if the "Mods" have the same cheap battery charger issues?)

I had this problem with one Battery that was non returnable. So to investigate I dissected it and found this was the problem: Seems the battery became loose from it's mounting position (I could hear it moving inside the tube at times) Once inside I found that the negative lead had come off the circuitry, but would make contact on occasions enough to make the light flash. If you hear/ feel it moving around it's definitely the batt and not the charger. Thankfully I had 2 other bats and 11 510 spares ;) I'm going to use the parts left over for a mod project as once you open it, it's not reusable.

GREAT info thanks a lot!

Did this thread die? I'm a brand new vapor (1 week) and have this same exact problem on my first charging attempt. I have the RIVA if that matters? Only my actual charger meltedon the side... I knew that was toast, but was it a faulty battery that took out the charger, or charger that took out the battery? I was not about to stick my other "good" battery to the charger after that.

I've been a service tech for 15 years and dont read (listen) to enough "warning" labels for my own good so I figured I qualified as a e-cig tech too. I opened up the ego/riva battery (not an easy task) and found the makup was simply the 3+/-v battery, and a small PCB. My battery showed "0" volts on the meter and attempting to push a small amount of juice into it from another source did not work either.

I have a replacement charger and battery on the way but I'll be honest, I'm not holding my breath on either one working as it should.

I did however through sheer determination manage to "rig" another 3.6v cell bought from a local electronics store onto it as to keep vaping and not go completely back to the analogs.

ANY update on this problem from others? Are your new chargers / batteries working correctly?
