Not recently, Pete, but back in June I got murdered on an imported NJOY. Hung up for weeks then doubled in price. Been an EU buyer since and never had a problem. Snuck in a couple of Chinese orders too. The trick there, as Trog says, is try and keep the packages small. Bulk orders draw more attention and can lead to a right kicking from the revenue.

It's a trade-off between getting as much out of Chinese shipping rates as you can, against possibly attracting attention from customs.

Good luck with your package.

Customs only hold a small percentage of packages, but if yours is held you will be hit :(

I don't order from overseas if I can help it, for that reason.

Still stuck there, Oh dear. I think I'm just going to stick with UK/EU suppliers from now on, it's not worth the hassle. If I am hit it will cost me a lot more than if I had bought locally :(

okay lets say a few hundred packages.. one hit.. and there was no delay simply a normal delivery followed by a bill from TNT.. they thought it was a tobacco product..

i still think its just christmass.. he he

i get stuff delivered pretty much every day from china.. loads of it.. touch wood not the slightest problem...

well.. two over over many months.. one customs (TNT) hit on some e pipes.. one bling cigar went missing in transit.. all in all a totally brilliant experience..

but i do keep my packages small just like the ones i send out are small..

Let's hope HM Customs don't hit you like they have my brother when he bought a kit and carts from Crown7 in the US. He got the package over 3 weeks ago with no custom charges applied. Yesterday he recieved an HM Customs invoice demanding him to cough up the charges.

I hope not, although this has happened to me once with some camera equipment.

It's escaped from customs!! In on the 21st and out on the 27th, jeez :) I wait with trepidation to find out if I've been hit:confused:

u wont have.. four days in customs isnt unusual... custom does nothing over the weekend period.. arrive friday do nothing till monday.. arrive thursday possibly escape monday or tuesday..

two working days minimum to go thru customs.. customs no workee weekendee.. i have watched loads of this stuff.. customs is a pain..

the best place for your parcel to be over the weekend is on the airplane.. its the only part of the system that still moves.. and it is coming up to christmas

There is one good thing about ordering expensive goods from abroad close to Christmas they are Busy Busy Busy and there is more chance your parcel will escape charges.

I picked up a parcel 24th Dec one year, was sent FedEx , correct value declared on the slips £124 .
Guy just handed it over and walked off did not even ask me to sign for it.
I was amazed as FedEx usually declare everything above £18 .

I Took off out of there like a whippet .
