I have to use the hex key to get mine off too. I learned the hard way to always use the key. Yes, I did slice my finger a bit trying to open it without the key, after the first couple of times with the key. :(
Not a bad slice but one none the less. That air opening is ShArP! ;)

Yes. Band-Aids go with 'Buki's like Peanut Butter goes with Jelly.

:D

If VDF means what I think it does, then here goes:

The prototype is a simple die made out of an out-of-spec kabuki top cap. It was cut lengthwise to expose sharp 'teeth' from the threads. The buddy is twisted onto the coil back and forth to clean and straighten the coil's upper threads. It makes it so the top cap can easily thread onto every coil you get.

And yes. VDF means...

For me, the Kabuki's became easier to open after a bit of use. Even my newest P3 one is now usually able to be opened without the hex wrench after 1/2 dozen or so fills -- but I also often use one of my more valuable tools, a paper towel, to grip the glass and the bottom cap.

Maybe I have tough fingers, but I've never had any scrapes or scratches opening a Kabuki, though (before the video trick with the hex wrench was out) I did use a rubbery jar opener to get it removed the first time.

I've been pleased with my Bedazzled tubes. Lovely and perfect fit on the one I've installed. She also sells plain glass for it. For those interested look under the RBA Section, Zen.

Phiniac buys glass from us that has failed a cosmetic inspection, because we are REALLY picky about the cosmetics of the glass... So... we sell her the rejected glass, it has VERY minor issues... and they pick a pattern that will cover the cosmetic flaw perfectly, so now the glass is perfect again. By doing this, they can pay LESS for the glass than if they purchased it directly from the supplier! It's a match made in heaven, and they are WONDERFUL people to work with!

So yes, Phiniac uses HoH glass for their Kabuki Tanks. Pretty awesome actually!

Quite! And thanks, Zen.

I had a permanent slice in my forefinger for the longest time. Even now, I'm super careful to hold onto the bottom cap, and turn the glass. There's still a small mark there, but I like to think of it as my Kabuki beauty mark. ;)

Is this happening with the P3 Kabuki?

My P3 Kabukis are a little too easy to get apart.

I have to be careful not to dump the juice when taking them off the mod.

Now, my 510 Kabukis are much, much, stiffer. I've been thinking about going to thinner o rings with those, but even they have loosened up a bit, with use, so will wait and see.

I like it that the bottom is a bit stiff.....I heard from some people having issues when unscrewing a tank from the Xvostick and that instead of unscrewing the 510 they unscrew the tank base which than remains in the atty recess and is a PITA to remove. Because of the stiffness of the Kabuki base I have no such issues :D
So I am actually a fan of this.

I broke yet another glass tube today. I am such a klutz. Now I need to order more as I have no spares. Where is the cheapest place to by Kabuki glass? HoH is $10, but $6 flat shipping. ProVape is $11.99 plus shipping - help?

Peter, sorry to hear you broke another tank. For the record, I broke my first one tonight. I was trying to get the tank off the top piece to wash both when I cracked it. Fortunately, I had bought two spares with my first Kabuki order. I'm a real klutz and knew it was only a matter of time before I did break one. Anyway, a question on the vape bands... Do they go around the glass part of the tank or on the metal parts? I've heard it both ways. Thanks.

Thanks, tyleris. Yes, DPL and I got a SLEW of Zen Rings, and they did help with the BDZ tubes. Please do not mistake my love of BDZ. I just often find it a roll of the dice. And you KNOW I've been a customer for a LONG time. ;)
The IB tanks are seem a teensy bit looser too - the first one I used worked fine but I needed to be really careful when re=-filling - the ibt o-rings resolved that. I'm not a fan of fused quartz - only because I have only ever broken 2 glass tubes (a SnP and a kabuki) - and both were fused quartz. (I'm not saying they are more fragile just I've had bad experiences). Also I have some glass etch cream to try and the cheaper the tanks the better as I'll probably mess a few up working out how to use it.

Working on the finalized design, it will be a while before they become available, if they become available. .
I would buy one - just because I like the idea of making the threads perfect before using . I never know if the coil will be stuck in the chimney or the base on opening - on the plus side it doesn't actually make any difference to the vape - wherever it is I just refill, screw the base on and continue :vapor:

Me too, only had to use the wrench a couple of times and after that paper towels to protect my little fingers. Got to love paper towels - I often wonder if the manufacturers sat somewhere trying to work out what caused the sudden increase in sales a few years ago :) (Juice on the o-rings once taken apart for the first time is a must though. )

I just love how inventive everyone is - swapping bits around and working out how to make plastic tubes. My answer to protecting the glass whilst out & about was to buy an xvostick

Yes this is with the P3 Kabuki. The thing is still very, Very tight. ;)
I don't have strong hands though...that may make a difference in user experiences.

Still in love with the 'Buki, after 5 tanks and about 18 hours! I'm about chain vaping because the flavor is so wonderful. First casualty this morning, though: the air hole bit me! I'm considering it a love bite ... :)
Sharp little sucker, ain't it?!?!?

Biting the hand that feeds it  What is it thinking!!!!

Am enjoying some Black Note Cadenza in my P3 Kabuki on Steath Provari P3 as I type this, such and enjoyable combo :)
Thanks for this suggestion. I'm gonna try out their variety/sample pack.

The 510 Kabukis are tighter than the P3... long story...
Robino, If your tank is REALLY tight it could be a piece of glass that is out of spec... one thing to try, take the tank apart and flip it over to see if the bottom loosens up, sometimes the folks doing the flame polishing on the glass get a bit aggressive and make too big of a "bead" on the edge. I'd gladly send you a replacement glass to give it a try.

I have a replacement glass. How the hell do you get the top off the glass though? My hands aren't strong enough...

I will play around with it more later. I am NOT giving up on this device so easily. I am the kind of person that will keep tweaking till I figure things out. I've been told I am stubborn. :p

You can call me Robin...no need for formalities ;) :D

I too do not have strong hands. I initially had my fair share of skin removed from my fingers trying to remove the caps. I try to remember to not tighten the bottom so tight and if I do, I use the allen key which works like a charm for me. If I have any issues with getting the top cap off, I use the rubber jar cap removal thing. I like the Kabuki so much that I was bound and determined to make them easy for me to use without getting battle scars.
