Any further updates on Aspire's switch to 100% cotton wicks for their BVCs? My day to day clearo is the K1, and am concerned enough, about the ceramic/silica, to switch to a Kanger Aerotank Mini.

After a flurry of protest on the 'ceramic' material, I can't find any recent updates.
Anyone? Anything?

No recent update

And a 'newer' post: (Feb 02, 2015 )
Aspire Support: •View topic - Organic Cotton Coils for the Atlantis

'Dear Customer,
For the details about our product, please refer to:Aspire Support: •View topic - Aspire official statement on Atlantis coils material
Doubts and fears are due to the lack of cognition. Due to the unfamiliar and unknown on the ceramic fiber used in Atlantis atomizer, Aspire R&D team has been researching to use the organic cotton which is widely accepted by people instead of our present material on the premise of maintaining the optimal performance and stability of our products to meet customers attention and requirements.
If any information, our marketing department will post on our website, please pay attention to our website.
Have a nice day!'

I love my K1, but still have concerns on the 'ceramic' material.

I just received my latest Naut mini and a pack of bvc coils. I can confirm that they do indeed have larger holes than before. No dry hits at all, however i am now having flooding issues where i never had before. they wick really, really well now, and keep wicking as well, almost filling the space under the coil after a day, whether your using it or not. They are the same bodies and you can see where they have enlarged the existing holes. I have no idea if its cotton or not, but you can lung hit them now without outpacing the wicking which is nice but, jeez im cleaning out the bases once, or twice a day now. I may go back to the originals, which i have plenty of anyway.
Like i said, no idea if its cotton or not but ive drilled out the old style before and the new style still wicks like a madman so i would bet that yes they are now cotton.

So Cal
-FYI -

I inquired to Aspire USA about this yesterday and this is what they replied:

"The new cotton coils have been released about 2 weeks ago. All Atlantis coils produced from that point and into the future will be full cotton coils. The packaging will be the same and you will not be able to determine the difference from the outer appearance. You would need to take it apart and look at the internal components. If this shipment is a recent shipment it is the full cotton coils for Aspire's Atlantis tank.

Thanks,
AspireUSA Team"

When I received my K1 a few weeks ago, it was equipped with the larger hole BVC coils.
It wasn't until I went to change the original coil that I realized the 10 replacement coils I ordered at the same time had smaller wicking holes.
Didn't notice a major performance issue, but it wasn't until a week later until I noticed the different hole sizes.
But I vape M/L at low wattage with a reduced air flow
Guess vendors have to work through their older small coil stock.

Guess that's only the full size BVC coils?
Wonder when the mini/regular coils will be updated?

Will be a huge deal to see cotton in these for me.
I was concerned on the health aspect of the 'mystery ceramic' material.

I did try to clean some of the used BVC coils.
Boiled them for 10 minutes and then let air dry for 2 days.
Tried one for a very short while, then examined the chiminey/mouth piece.
Noticeable 'ceramic grains'!!
So attempting to clean and re-use the original BVC coils should be considered dangerous to your health IMO

That's about the same time the coils with the larger juice holes started showing up. As far as I'm concerned the coils with the larger hole equals "full cotton coils". I will say this, the new coils I got are working better than ever. No more gurgling, spitting, dry hits, flooding. I'm on day 8 on my first coil, averaging about 3-4 tankfulls a day. Now if the other 4 in my 5 pack perform like that Aspire has won me back!!

And an update on the Aspire thread: 2/9/15

Aspire Support: •View topic - Aspire official statement on Atlantis coils material

'Dear Customer,
Thank you for your concern, there were some talks about the ceramic firber material we used in our Atlantis atomizer before. We at aspire
have paid high attention to this discussion and gave the responsible responses.
doubts and fears are due to the lack of cognition. Due to the unfamiliar and unknown on the ceramic fiber used in Atlantis atomizer, customers prefer to accept the things they known like organic cotton. We at aspire listen to customers' voice, Aspire R&D team has been researching to use the organic cotton which is widely accepted by people instead of our present material, after testing,we found that the flavor is more better just like customer suggested.
We are now doing running change to full organic cotton.
If any informations, our marketing department will put on our website.
Have a nice day!'

So Cal
Yet Aspire site still shows 'ceramic':

Nautilus/Mini BVC Coil (5 Pack) | ASPIRE USA

'These bad boys (Bottom Verical Coils) feature a ceramic wicking system that is so surreal it will change your vaping experience'

Yes, it's been hashed over in another thread here on ECF. I highly doubted what another member stated and that an online retailer was selling what they called authentic Aspire Atlantis cotton coils. Which is why I contacted Aspire both in China and USA. You saw the cut and paste response I received from Aspire USA, the response I received from China is on the Aspire support forum (2/8/15): Aspire Support: •View topic - Aspire official statement on Atlantis coils material

To me the issue is that there is no visual difference between the old and the new all cotton coils; packaging and coils look the same as before. So until the supply channel of the old coils dries up, we as consumers wont know unless the retailer list them as "all cotton" and they are a trusted vendor! It sucks, but I see Aspires point here as well... nobody (who knows) would buy the old coils!

Yea, I was wondering if the Kidney Punch coils were not production, but ones rebuilt with cotton by KP.

I see it's your post on the Aspire forum that elicited a response from them on the cotton coils going into production.
Good job getting them to respond with an update.

Looking forward to when I can by some of these cotton coils. (the minis)
Anyone getting updates/links post 'em!

So Cal
just received them yesterday. they work just great and i dig the bigger holes. wov is shipping them now.

WOV just replied to my email inquiry on these new all cotton coils and this is the response I received: (very quick response)

Hi Darryl,
We do not have the new cotton oils.
WOV

So I do not know where you got your info, but I got confirmation from WOV! The larger holes do NOT mean that the wicks are all cotton, that was a design change a while back from Aspire!

Since (per the email I posted earlier from Aspire USA) there is no visual difference in the coils or the packaging; we'll have to either wait for the current supply of ceramic/silica coils to dry up, or trust the vendor we're buying from. I know it sucks, but that's the way it is.
