Anyone Else Catch a PC Virus from The MS ECF Links?

Hi - Just curious if anyone else had this problem? I'm not going back into the thread.

I clicked on the Miss Jaxx link and my AV software started going bonkers with warnings. Some adware was installed while I was trying to get my AV to delete it.

Nuck--I agree 100%--Phobucket is about as safe as it gets so I do not know what happened, but IMO it had nothing to do with the EFC Thread------Sun

Well if there is this virus as you say then it would be photobucket that has the virus that you have contracted because my computer is heavily fortified and reinforced with many anti virus and mel and spyware software.

I didn't get a virus, but I keep getting an hourglass of death. I tried twice, on two different bios... just locks up my browser. I gave up.

I didn't need to click on any of the links, I KNEW who I was voting for from the second the contestants were announced.

The pages locked up my browser as well. It could be an issue with some of the ads they have on the pages. The ads will probably be third party code that photobucket has no direct control over. I doubt it's a virus but often ad code is written quite badly and causes problems.

I just tried it 3 times and got no lock ups--no virus-The one think I did get was to read the bios!!! LOL--Sun

Not sure what it was to be honest. I clicked on the link to Miss Jaxx's profile and pictures and I started getting all kinds of pop up windows from Symantec. When I closed photobucket, I had a totally random "Spyware Elimination" program running that would not allow me to stop it. Everything was fine, As I say, until I clicked on Miss Jaxx's profile. I got rid of it without a problem, I just thought it was worth mentioning.

Same thing happened to me last week
I didn't click on any links
but I got that unwanted anti-spyware program

I definately got it from ECF

No more than one of each I hope, clashing anti virus is the last thing a PC needs hehe!!!

Are you sure the 'pop-up windows' were from Symantec? I assume you are running Symantec on your computer. I have seen banners on some sites that will start popping up window after window... if you click wrong you could install something on your computer. Not really a virus...

Oh, by the way, when I clicked Mrs. CaSH's bio, I got the blue screen of death and can't use my computer anymore... I recommend everyone avoid that!

Hmmmm... Can't confirm anything over here. We're a 100% Linux house, no MS products at all. 5 years and no virii.

Man, I cannot imagine going back to dealing with pop-ups and "anti-virus" crap again.

Not sure what the problem is also......I tried every pic and bio..no problems..I'm using AVG!The Wiz!

I have been to each bio & pic link at least once & some twice or more...... & on 2 different computers running Vista & XP, with CA antivirus & Symantec on the other. Neither computer gave me problems at all......
