I definitely don't get embarrassed vaping in public, I have gotten onto quite a few interesting conversations as a result. Usually it's smokers asking if it works, to which I respond with a resounding "Yes! I haven't smoked in 4 years!". I love it when people ask me about vaping especially when they walk away seriously considering making the switch.

. I've also noticed I get more looks and questions when I'm rocking my Reo as opposed to my other mods, which is cool with me. I'm a Leo so I thrive on the attention.

What the title says, I get this feeling when im vaping in public that people think Im smoking a {Other Stuff} for some reason.

No. I tend not to stand in a group/crowd though. I figure they will come to me to ask if they want to learn/understand. Although I do enjoy using a vaporizer, my intention is Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR). It definitely does that. I feel comfortable in my studying to answer questions. No, I am just an example of doing a better thing.

BTW, I just ordered juice at the 6mg level. I notice that I don't reach for my APV on a regular nicotine-needing basis. One step at a time.

I stopped worrying about what other people thought some time before I graduated from high school. I was cursed with severe acne and acne scars since around the time I was in double digits, so I had to grow a thick skin and become deaf to rude comments.

I'm also one who is very proud to be seen vaping, because I was sure seen smoking a LOT. My high-PG juice isn't going to cause a big enough cloud to bother anyone except died-in-the-wool ANTZ, and those people NEED to be bothered... a LOT. (they actually need to be confined to a cage with a stout gag in place)

The many years of propaganda against smoking has the majority of the public moving past brainwashed to paranoid. One whiff of a cigarette and they go running for a chest X-ray. When I still smoked cigarettes I would hold an unlit cigarette moving it to my mouth as if smoking. Amazing the people who would give you dirty looks or start coughing. So if I was 'fake" smoking and got those reactions what chance do vapers have?

What the title says, I get this feeling

Feelings are real, and I never tell anyone how they should feel. :) It's not like an opinion somebody else can argue about. :)

If you feel that way YOU may be more comfortable with a small pen style PV or something that you don't feel ostentacious holding? Perhaps you like to be a discreet person without a lot of attention drawn to yourself and that is okay.

Everyone sees vaping differently even if they are doing it. I see vaping as a "personal habit." Before, I had the smoking habit. Now I'm vaping instead.

Some may see it as something else, and that's okay too.

I never, ever, ever approach anything I do, think, or say from feeling like I need permission from other people. Now and then, I have to think about who might try to stop me from doing or saying something... but I never, ever, ever let myself think from the stand point that I might need someone's permission or approval to speak or behave as I see fit. Never. I am responsible for myself and what I do. I await permission from no one to act or speak.

So, for me, it isn't a matter of caring or not caring what other people might think. The fact is, I would never even notice if someone disapproved unless they actually confronted me...

I got pulled over last week and the trooper stated it was because I went over the white line of the road three times. It was too cold out for me to ask, "Isn't it really because I toked on my vaporizer as I passed you, and you had to pull out and follow me for almost 3 miles before I toked again and you had to come up with a reason to pull me over?" This would have probably started a conversation that would've probably lead to an argument, that most probably would've gotten me a new pair of bracelets.

Did he ask to see your PV, etc. ?

Seems like if he was concerned about your vape he would have asked you about it?

I haven't been vaping that long but I don't care one little bit about ppl seeing or watching me. It hasn't occurred to me they could be thinking negative thoughts about it, The only thing I'm unsure about still yet is where is it okay to vape. I really have no idea. Restaurants, shopping malls, concerts? I have to check into that.

I'm pretty much embarrassed about everything - my wrinkled clothes, my pasty skin, my extra pounds, my bald head, etc. Vaping is the ONE THING I'm not ashamed or embarrassed about at all. Fiercely proud. Fiercely.
Also, I kinda like messing with people. A guy at the bus stop the other day saw me blow a cloud, and watched it as it rose gracefully in the air. I saw him look away when I looked in his direction, and before he looked back I slipped my mod into my shirt pocket. Then he looked again and I saw this hilarious look of confusion on his face. Like, waitaminute, he was smoking a second ago... huh?? I chuckled over that the rest of the day.

I never was embarrassed until some man came up to me and said " hey you could be smoking ANYTHING in that thing and no one would know the difference " I said, not really, it's a liquid not anything else... but after he said that in the back of my mind I'm thinking, does the general public think like this man? And since it's made me a bit uncomfortable, not so much embarrassed. But I'm like, do they think I'm doing something I shouldn't be in public? Is that what people think??? I did take the time to explain to the man, but he still had this dumb look on his face like I was smoking , well, you know...something I shouldn't be and trying to get away with it..now I can't get that out of my head...ugh!! Oh well, it does NOT STOP me from public vaping, it just makes me a bit uncomfortable. ..

The thought has crossed my mind more than a few times, but then I think that I would look REALLY suspicious if I was trying to hide it. What kind of idiot would be so brazen if it wasn't just a normal, legal e-cig?

That thought train runs for about 3 seconds, and then I don't worry about it anymore. If they wanna know, they can ask, and many have. I think my "completely converted" count is up to about 10, and that's a direct result of me not hiding what I'm doing. I consider that a win!

When he stopped me I put my vaporizer in the center console and both my hands on the steering wheel, but it was in my hand when he returned to my car. All he did was ask me 'What is that contraption?', and all I said was 'It's an e-cig'. All he said then was 'Oh'. He ended up writing me a warning citation, because he had to do something official looking, then proceeded to leave in a hurry. I assume he was upset that he couldn't really charge me for doing anything wrong, and I left in a hurry as well, mad that he had done nothing but waste my time.

I split my time between Texas and Colorado. In Texas, vaping is VERY popular but still 1 in 10 people who actually do ask about my device make some comment about "{Other Stuff}." In Colorado I almost never see someone else vaping. I reckon I may see one person for every 30 I see in Texas. I imagine it is because there are THAT many less smokers (or ex-smokers!). I'd say 3 out of 5 at the least who ask me about my device comment about {Other Stuff}. A very common comment is something like "by your third or fourth puff I figured it can't be {Other Stuff}, or you're frikkin He-Man!"

The same could be said for cigarettes or a pipe or what have you. I wouldnt let one idiot affect how you look at yourself or your actions. I honestly think most people look at these as they do cigarettes and thats it. They see smoke, they give 2 fake short coughs to show you that they know that it's unhealthy, and everyone goes on their merry way.
