Anyone else find Mt Baker to be overly "perfumey"

I'll be glad when this Mt Baker Vapor Coffee e-juice is gone, won't be purchasing again.

At first it was a slightly burnt flavor, now I can say for certain that it has fragrance taste. There is a manufacturing date on the bottle (3 days before I received it), makes me wonder if it could have benefited from steeping to mellow it out.

Being that my funds are limited, I can't afford to throw it out. Maybe since I only vape on that tank 4-5 times per day, the last half of the bottle will be smoother.

I've been trying to get to the bottom of that taste- to me it reminds me of the smell from the portable toilet in my boat cabin.
Anyway- some say its dissipates after 24 hours with the cap off- hasn't worked for me but evidently works for most. I just have really really sensitive pallet and nose.

My instinct tells me that it's either licorice or
star anise but I'm no where near sure.
Sorry that you're having the issue hopefully the cap off trick will work for you though

I can't vape MBV. They have outstanding customer service, and are great folks, but their juice is unvapeable and yes, perfumy/chemically tasting for me. And I've tried multiple flavors and steeped for months before throwing in the trash.

I think I recall someone said earlier that you are a chef? You might enjoy Ahlusion. It's not going to be "economy" juice, but it's also not on the level of Five Pawns or other "gourmet" juice vendors, but you have a huge selection, and the flavors are spot on, what they are supposed to be. I currently have over 60 of their juices in my rotation. They are the vendor to whom I measure all other vendors against.

Ahlusion has been in the making since 2007, consisting of research and development resulting in some of the best flavored and full bodied vapes available. Backed by years of experience in the Culinary Arts (in particular desserts/pastries) and Aromatherapy, Ahlusion was born. Ahlusion was initially formed to serve our small Military community of families and friends, and after numerous requests we opened up our doors to the public in 2010 and became official in early 2011. Our products are not for everyone; our main focus is on quality - not quantity.

I taste precisely this - another poster brought up flavorwest - This is where the "taste" comes from- Im convinced. I dont know if its their base or what - but there is something in FW that some people can taste and others dont even notice it.

Lucky7 was mentioned early- this is pretty delicious and very cheap. They do not use FW so that "taste" is not there. Its NOT fancy, but it is very vapable - very simple flavors any chemical taste is very slight and gone with a very short steep ( a few days to MAYBE a week). Ahlusion and GoodLifeVapor would be 2 other fabulous choices for middle of the road prices on EXCELLENT juice.

I agree totally with Rabernet - I *want* to be able to vape MBV- fast, good pricing, great folks - but I cannot get past that underlying taste!

After being disappointed by MBV, I was pretty skeptical about Lucky 7. I saw all the fan posts, which sounded just like the MBV fan posts. I still haven't purchased from them, because whenever I go to purchase new juice from a new vendor, I always end up placing a new order from Ahlusion instead. LOL

Cranky did send me two samples from Lucky 7 - Watermelon and was it Strawberries and Cream, Cranky?

I know that I was shocked how much I LOVED the watermelon. The other flavor I didn't bother to vape the whole REO bottle worth.

I posted earlier in this thread that I had just received my first MBV order. Sadly, all 3 bottles (3 weeks later) are getting thrown away. They all have that chemically smell even after steeping with the cap off and taste burnt even after changing coils. It's a shame, because price and customer service is really outstanding. I am in love with The Vapor Chef that I ordered at the same time. It is the first place that I have been a repeat buyer.

You said the Spearmint was excellent, now your saying your throwing it away?

It's funny that you mention the perfume taste. My latest batch of Hawk Sauce has a really weird taste in it which i couldn't really pinpoint. I see this thread and i am like oh... it's perfume. Last week i never had this taste with my other bottle so either they are changing the recipes in their juice or you just notice it more over time. This week i will be getting Cinnamon Roll and Strawbana both with 65/35 and 2 flavor shots. If these juices don't do it for me i would have to call it quits with MBV. I just keep ordering from them because of the price but to be honest i am never satisfied with the cheap juice.

On the other hand i really want to buy Nicoticket H1N1 but i can't really afford paying over twice as much as i do now. I wish they were a bit more affordable!

For the price, MVB is pretty good. But yes, I find many of their juices have a weird chemical wang to them. That being said, MVB was much, much better than the juice I got from a local B&M when I first started vaping, so they still have a special place in my heart. For the budget strapped vaper, they offer fast service and a consistent product.

You may want to try some other vendors, I'd recommend Nicoticket and Alice in Vapeland. Alternatively, you might try buying MVB juice at a higher nicotine concentration and then cut it with VG or PG. I DIY these days and have found that when it comes to flavorings, less is more. Heck, you could probably ask them to make it with less flavorings - MVB's customer service is first rate.

MBV usually needs steeping. One night cap off, then depending on the flavor a week to three works best for me. But their coffee never worked for me either, except mixed with other flavors in small quantities. A lot of vendors' coffees taste burnt.

(I'm wondering about the sample of Shenanigans I received. It's chocolate mint with notes of irish cream and I detect a back note of coffee...smells promising after a good long steep unless the coffee gets too strong and burnt tasting.)

Roger- really it bugs me big time- lol.
Same juice (flavor) from 4 different vendors- vanilla custard
Side by side they all tasted different and I get it
23 years in a kitchen I totally get everybody does everything different. What bothers me most is every juice I've gotten from MBV had that same perfumes undertone I've gotten 12 so far.
But I hate tasting something and not being able to finger what it is.....
Hoping i can at least do that I can avoid which brands use that same ingredient. It's like I hate licorice so I avoid things with licorice. I hate perfume unless it's on my girl then I love perfume hahaha
It could be the flavors themselves, it could be the PG, the VG or the nicotine base. Those are pretty much your only options, unless you think something from the packaging is leeching into the juice.

I agree with you about MBV, but I'm not exactly surprised that a product in that price range would be made from the cheapest ingredients possible. They're going for Sunny D, not for Dom Perignon. It hardly seems fair to fault them for this, when they never pretend to be something they're not.

I know EXACTLY what you mean.. I was excited to try MBV, what with so many rave reviews. They all had a horrible chemical taste. Steeping? Try 3 months! Still there and still just as bad, if not worse. My husband found the same thing, but some were vapeable in an emergency. All the ones I ordered I gave to a friend who loved em. Taste is subjective for sure.

One thing I do is keep an eye out for specials and buy juice I really love then. Like when Drip Club had a 50% special I got all the juices Mike and I love from Dr Mikes and bought aLOT! I always have my eyes open for deals. If its a juice I've never tried before, but really want to I try to only get samples and use a coupon code.

I have found alot of my best deals right here on the forum on this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/pay-forward-pif/418767-deals-steals-183.html Best of luck!

Yes, it seemed to get worse with time.

That makes me think that it's MBV's base that tastes like perfume to some. As the Spearmint flavoring died down a bit with age it almost had to be the PG/VG/Nic giving you this flavor.

I'm glad I don't experience this and I'm quite a sensitive taster.
