How do I pop out the insert without damaging the cartridge, fitting, etc.? I've read elsewhere that this can be disassembled, but I have arthritic hands that have no dexterity and shake a lot, so it's all too easy for me to break things. Because of this, and being on an extremely low budget (disability), the last thing I want to do is break the few pieces I currently have. ;)

I'm assuming this is a 510 cart.

Round carts- use a fingernail to catch the edge of the insert with the hole in it. You can also use a small paperclip in the hole and wiggle it. It comes out easily once you apply pressure. There's another insert down in the cart with a hole in it, too. Remove the inner insert and save it. I toss the inner inserts in a ziplock with other parts in case I ever need them for some reason.

Whistle tips- you can squeeze with fingers and rotate back and forth to loosen it or use a paper clip inserted into the hole as above. Remove the inner insert and store.

Liquid accumulates in the cart until you take a puff and it works through the baffles to your lips (yuck). It builds up a tiny drop at a time until it gets to the end of the mouthpiece. Once this happens you get juice on the lips frequently. Periodic cleaning will minimize the problem. I clean mine routinely, once a week or so, sometimes more often. Once you've done it once you will realize how easy it is.

LOL! I've got an 18 guage syringe, and though I haven't had to use it yet, I've already imagined the funny looks I'd get using that.

Thanks, I'll research these. But first question is, do they fit 510 batteries? I'm planning on "upgrading" my PV model soon, but have to stick to the 510 basics (i.e., batteries so that I don't have to replace my chargers just yet) till the finances improve around here.

Yes, 510's and EGOS are all i use. I was getting so sock of the cart's not working right had reverted to the drip. While most seem to think its easy, the only easy part for me was how easy it was for me to make a huge mess, but yes, dripping the quality of the vape was better, just the juice all over me and my desk was a bit of a drag.

For me these CE2's are of equivalent quality to dripping, but the consistence is way better. And i dont have to carry the bottle around.

Thank you, DaveP & mutt4a. I will still check out that cartomizer when finances allow.

Meanwhile, removing the insert and cleaning out the top end of the cartridge is exactly what I needed. I was pretty frustrated at reading that I must be drawing on it wrong... this only started a week or so ago; before that, liquid in the mouth was a rarity. My newest cartridges are almost two months old, so it was high time to do a thorough cleaning, and this did the trick. It is indeed extremely easy to do, and will now be part of my daily routine.

I did remove the inner insert too, but quickly got liquid in my mouth again. Reinserting that one fixed it once again. I've gone the last five and a half hours without a mishap!

Using the ZFM, there is no topping off needed; just vape till the cartridge is dry... also no burnt or "off" taste till it's empty. (Same quality vape as with dripping, with a lot less work. Dripping has been much more of a miss than a hit with me.) So now I can go a good two hours before having to open a bottle of liquid (and I'm a pretty heavy vaper); right about the same time I need to switch batteries.

This forum rocks! I would have given up on the PV altogether and still be smoking 1-2 packs of cigarettes a day if I hadn't found this forum with all the troubleshooting, tips, and mods. Now I'm only smoking 1-4 cigarettes a day! If I had the courage to use my PV in my jacuzzi (which I use three to five times a day), I probably wouldn't have any cigarettes at all anymore. But I'm scared I'll get it wet... I'm extremely clumsy. lol

always happens to me i have the joy e510

Definitely do what DaveP suggested. I also have the Joye 510. Just a little wiggle with a paper clip did the job. It is so easy to do, when my cartridges have gotten empty this afternoon/evening, it was a piece of cake to just pop off the insert and do a swipe in there with a Q-tip or paper towel, etc., each time. Takes me 5-10 seconds, which is a lot less time, hassle, and frustration than it takes to constantly get liquid in my mouth. ;)

I'm also already finding that if I take a draw off my PV and there is any gurgling sound at all, there's a little liquid in that top reservoir in the cartridge. I'm not saying that this is always what the gurgling sound would mean, as I always see posts stating that it means your cartridge is too full... though it would make sense that this would flood that upper chamber. ANYHOO, twice I've heard gurgling, and both times that was the problem. (I'm using a liquid I made off and on, and I diluted it a bit too much. So when I use that one, I get gurgling more quickly/easily. It'll be thickened up again after the 1st. lol)

DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
where did you order your CE2 ceramic cartomizers?

Well, i used to get this all the time. While E-Cig was a godsend to me this refilling/rejuicing was a nightmare, and I have to say that it was one of the reason i was a little slow moving off of my Green Smoke (with cartomizers and no reflling) to my EGO which i use exclusively now.

What has finally turned the scale for me is the new CE2 R3 ceramic cartomizers that are just this last week becoming available at several of our retailers. With these i can both make sure my carto's are full when i leave the house, be assured that If i have a full carto and a spare I will not run out while in the field. And the refilling is actually pretty straight forward. The ONLY downside is that I look like i'm a druggy w/ the syringe it takes to refill them with.

At $15 delivered for a carton of 5, and you factor in that it includes 5 atomizers in the costs, well I for one encourage anybody having issues such as these to at least give them a Try.

They have without a doubt convinced me, and most of the earlier issues and problems seem to have been worked out....

Hi Texas...Clouds of Vapor has the E2 Ceramic's in 510, Mega 510 and KR808D1. Steel only right now but they said that black is coming soon. They're $9.99 for a 5 pack w/$6.00 standard shipping on your order. On there website they're called 510 E2 Ceramic Cartomizers so I'm not sure if they're the same as the CE2 R3 ceramic cartomizers that Mutt's talking about. Anybody know?

LOL@Taurox! I've been using the "make an extra mouthpiece out of the carto condom" method of keeping juice out of my mouth for a few weeks now! Great minds thinking alike?

I use WOW cartos from V4L, and I think the problem is indeed the straw lined up with the little hole in the cap producing condensation. Until I put some space between my mouth and the carto cap, I'd get juice on my lips and in my mouth about every 3rd vape and it was driving me bonkers!

how many drops are you putting in your filter's as you could be overfilling the cartridge. I usually put 2-3 drops on my filter and 1 or 2 drops on my atty, and i don't have a problem with this at all. I tried just putting a drop or 2 on a N-pro filter but forget it, might as well just drink the bottle since i don't have a seringe in order to be able to soak the filter. (now I just use my n-pro for emergencies because it really isn't e-juice friendly).

Momster that's awesome.... are you also leaving the plug in as well as the condom with a hole in it? I did that all of today and I got zero splashback, I also intentionally filled all the cartos I tested this on far and above full. Now I am testing it with the condom pushed all the way down and the plug removed. If this works, then assuming I can find a way to enlarge the hole in the plug it should work without the need for the condom. The larger hole in the plug not creating enough suction to pull in any condensation that forms on the bottom. Well in theory anyway.

Actually picked em up 3 times. I prefer the XL's i got from clouds of vapor, so far, but he's out of the XL's.

I also picked up some of the XL's from wordupecig. Took longer for them to ship, but they are on their way.

I got the first batch of std's from awesomevapor.

Hope you enjoy as much as I have

Hey Mutt4a, LOL, we're covering three or four subjects on this one thread, but its good info and I hope the mods leave it alone. Hey, on the CE2's, do you have to do anything to them when they are new - such as cleaning them out - or are they good to go out of the box?

I'd read in another thread that some came with a liquid similar to what atty's have when new and they had to somehow clean them before using them. I've got some XL's ordered from AwesomeVapor.

I got about 10 of those ce2's. hated them. I am not sure if they were the new ceramic ones these were about a month ago. They are Royal Smokers brand ce2's. I tried two of them out with my two favorite flavors. I could never get them to not taste burnt. I figured maybe they needed breaking in. After two days I gave up. I did some research and found out that apparently some fluids do not "wick" well and will give the burnt taste. Which is fine I guess, however I was using really thin juice and they were my favorite two flavors, so if it doesn't work for those I guess they aren't for me. I also hated filling them. Using the syringe to fill them wasn't the worse thing in the world. However unless I was comfortable leaving it dirty or mixing flavors. I would have to clean the syringe each time. I am a lazy ......., and it just seemed like way too much work for me. I am happier pulling off my tip, dripping 10-15 drips, and good for half the day.

I dunno. Original thread was if we were getting liquid and if so what to do. My response was, yes i did, and never found a solution until CE2's. The follow up ?'ns from ther.

Yes, they are effectively atomizers with what i guess is essentially an automatic drip system in. Before filling i dry burn them, cause thats what i read i should.

A month ago, i believe would have meant you were likely using revision 3. I noted some issues with liquids w/ more VG seem to require me to draw more heavily to avoid a burnt taste. However i think with the ones i have now, i managed to solve that by twisting the bottom counter clockwise about 1/4 a turn. I had read that this would "loosen" the draw. VG based liquids i guess need to draw faster over the atty. As for the refilling etc, thats all gonna be a matter of preference. Cleanning syringe for me is just load/unload w/ water. The syringes i'm finding out are also dirt cheap. So one could have a syringe per liquid bottle almost. You can also refil by dripping into the filler needle tip, i have seen, but well, its faster and easier for me to use the syringe. For me its easier to load up the carto once for a day and a half of "drip/refill" free vaping that, to me is equal to dripping in quality. In short, yea, refill w/ syringe is a bummer, but i just finished loading enough cartos for the week. I think i will not need to touch a syringe or juice bottle for the rest of the week!!! One hour filling for a week of no juice issues seems worth it to me. As i said though, yea, its a matter of preference, and I will grant the syrings is a down side. But their are work arounds, like in all things

Another thing to do that worked for me is to put the rubber mouthpiece from an 801 cart on the carto. (That is if you happen to have a few laying around.) It is a tight fit at first, but the rubber stretches to fit over it quite well. I even ordered a pack of 801 carts just for the rubber tips one time even though I no longer had an 801 pv. I almost always overfill, so I always start out a freshly filled carto with an 801 tip on it to avoid getting a mouthful of juice.
