Anyone else get nervous when driving and vaping that people will think you are smoking something else?

Umm. Hell to the NO!!! I was hitting my ego with an xl carto on it and glanced to the left and an undercover was next to me. I looked at him trying to gulp down my hit and to my suprise he held up his own little beauty and gave it a little wave. Light turned green and has stayed that way. It is not illegal, why worry? Unless your'e sporting some expired tags or have unpaid tickets...

I could care less what people, including the police, think I'm smoking in my car. I'm vaping. If they want to stare, point, or pull me over, let 'em. I'm doing nothing wrong nor illegal. I don't vape in any place where smoking is not allowed, so I'm always respectful of laws both current and forthcoming. But my car is not a public domain and I vape huge clouds when I drive. No one has looked at me sideways for it ever.

I guess I'm less self-conscious about cops than the people staring at me for blowing huge plumes of vapor in my car with the windows closed. They pass me before they could see it dissipate quicker than smoke.

But really, there are a lot of LEOs who are trying to quit like the rest of us - they aren't all looking to bust you for vaping. Do make sure you are following the speed limit, tags are current, no busted lights, etc.

I wouldn't mind in the least being pulled over for vaping and explaining to the cop what I was doing (and name-dropping my brother who is a fellow man in blue, lol.) Well, as long as its not when I'm late for work.

I do get a bit nervous, but it is for another reason...I am a former addict, so I am a bit conditioned to fear cops...that being said, I'm not really afraid of them, but the response is nearly uncontrollable. I find myself sliding my e-cig up my sleeve and I just chuckle. I truly know in my heart that I am doing nothing wrong, and my past is my past, but at nearly 5 years clean I still have this response. I have watched more and more people in my community start vaping, so I am sure many people know what it is. Lately the question has been "what flavor are you using?" That always sparks up great conversations and curiosities from non-vapors.

Congrats! That paranoia will fade in time.

I have never gotten a strange look before, but it doesn't mean people aren't thinking things. I give strange looks to people who put make up on in the car or who eat and talk on the phone. We are not doing anything wrong at all so weird looks are given to anyone who looks different. I had someone at a red light ask what I was smoking and I told him I was vaping (alternative to cigarettes) and he gave me a thumbs up and said good luck.

All the time actually.

I only vape in public from inside of the privacy of my vehicle for the most part or in open spaces like parks and such I have never tried vaping in a store or restaurant as I know others have - just to avoid complaints. I am all for educating people and will if the opportunity arises but when out to run errands or eat a meal I prefer not to do something that is going to immediately put me in conflict with others until I take away my time from what I am doing to educate them. Sadly, it often turns out to be time wasted (unless its a smoker as most smokers are interested and seem to be looking for an alternative) because non-smokers have been so indoctrinated about second hand smoke that they are not really too willing to believe that vaping produces water vapor and that white cloud is not carrying teh same dangers that smoke does.

I am one of those who like a lot of vapor so there is a great deal when I exhale. I get the 'nasty smoker' looks from those that just see the vapor, and some really odd looks from people who see me in the act of vaping - I KNOW they don't think its nicotine. Vaping outside in public I have been accused of both tobacco and illegal substance smoking from those rude people who think its their duty in life to step in and instruct you on how to live yours.

I have had a couple of run in with the police; in one case ( a couple of years ago) my setup was 'confiscated' but the case was apparently dropped when it turned out to hold nicotine. Unfortunately, it somehow was 'lost' so that my property was not returned. From the reactions I got when I was making noise about getting it back (a couple of years ago prices were much higher and I did not have a draw full of other batteries) I was given the impression that they thought it was really for the consumption of anything but nicotine and I had managed to fool them somehow and by 'losing' it they would remove my way of doing things other then vaping nicotine with it.

Since then I have been nervous about public use and actually bought a cigarette like PV so that it would not attract mas much attention. I have gotten a bit more comfortable lately as more people seem a bit more educated but will quickly hide my PV if I see a police car near me - which is probably more suspicious then waving it at them but I had my experience.

When I ride the scooter to work I vape at every red light. Kinda hard not to notice that. Everywhere I go a ProTank or more likely one of my IBTanks is sticking out of my shirt pocket. I get questions, which I enjoy answering.
One co-worker took a hit of my DIY Apple and said he was going this weekend to get his own setup.
For me that is cool
