I'm also experiencing some bronchial constriction a month into vaping. I've been vaping all VG so far so I am going to try some mixes and see if that helps. Tonight I notice I am suddenly coughing up some brownish gunk. (eew!) I have been off of analogs for 4 days now...

That is pretty normal. Your lungs are clearing themselves from smoking. Should last awhile, then go away.
    Good Luck

You might consider a second opinion (and an endocrinologist). A doctor who treats only to the test and ignores the symptoms can be a problem where Thyroid is concerned. Also there are additional tests besides the TSH, and the TSH 'normal' range has been tightened more than once.

It's no laughing matter to have a doc allow your brain and other organ functions to slow down as they treat lab tests like a religion and disregard the actual patient.

    Best wishes to you.

My mother was diagnosed with Graves Disease (hyperthyroid) when I was a child, and my middle sister has Hashimoto's (hypothyroid). I too have had sporadic thyroid-dysfunction symptoms for much of my adult life. But the doctors have never been able to get lab numbers to support any diagnosis.

Making sure that you are dealing with a doctor who's not _only_ looking at the lab numbers and that the appropriate tests are run is extremely important, iirc the Free T3 is one not often run due to cost but can be a clear indicator of a problem.

The sad part is... I've been to 2 endocrinologists with the same results. Both have told me my blood tests are 'normal' and to check back 6 months later. (Normal range in these parts is still 0.4 to 4.5 btw) I just got my results from the last one and I am, again, low on vitamin D and my cholesterol is up. I got the same damn advice. Take a supplement and go on a diet.

I'm beginning to think I'm mental. If I weren't so damn tired, I'd be worried.

Next stop? A local nutritionist who is reported to be very good.

Btw, great links. I have read through alot of info on Mary Shomons site.

I'm sorry to read of all the problems that many of you are having. We all have different chemical makeups, so we're not all affected the same way. I've been vaping and pretty much off analogs for a little over a month (4 this month), having been a pack a day full flavor smoker for 40 years. I wasn't extremely sob then, and I'm still not.

As far as being tired, I seem to be much less tired than before. I get about 1/2 hr. less sleep each night, and still don't get tired during the day. I just spent 2 nights at a motel, and I never get much sleep in motels. If I get shorted of sleep, I almost make up for it while driving. I drove over 100 miles last night and didn't even nod off, not even once. That's unusual for me. On boring winter days, I've got used to taking a 20 minute nap most afternoons. Since I started vaping, there have been very few days I've been able to nap.

For the past few years, I've been going thru a situation where for a few nights I'd have no problem, then the next few nights I'd wake up after being asleep for a little less than hour, with the feeling of my throat closing. I'd have to get up and get a drink of water, and then I could go back to sleep. This would be an off/on rotation about every 5 days. Since I've quit analogs and started vaping, I haven't had this happen at all.

Up until I got my Atomic Cinnacide the other day, I've been vaping all PG based juices. My Atomic has 30% vg and so far so good. I vape from 1 1/2 - 2 ml per day.

Good luck to you that are experiencing negative changes.

I have so much more lung capacity/function after just one month with a V4L and I feel like I could read this entire thread aloud and not be SOB (unless you're asking the guy next door, lol)

Each individuals own results may vary? Heck, at this point I honestly don't mind being a guinea pig.. I was already letting Phillip Morris slowly torture me to death.. And paying through the nose for it!!!

Are you using Automatic Batteries. I find sometimes I get it with my auto batteries because I have to inhale harder. It does not happen with my manual batteries. Don't have to inhale as harder to get the vap.
I have been vaping seven months with no problems until lately.

For the past two or three weeks, inhaling vapor sends me into a coughing fit. Some days, I can't inhale the vapor at all without coughing up a lung. Sometimes, it feels like my throat is closing up and I have trouble getting enough air. I can hear myself wheezing. I am using 0, 6, or 11 mg nic liquid.

I do have inhalers and have started using them again after not needing them for six months.

It happens with PG or VG, so I'm not sure what is causing the sensitivity to the vapor but I have cut back a lot on vaping. I think it could be the flavoring in some liquids I purchased from a vendor I hadn't tried before.

I'm going to stick with one flavor at a time to determine if one specific liquid is causing the reaction, or if it is a build up of PG or VG.

Anyone one else have similar symptoms?

I started vaping on Monday, 2/22/10...immediately ditched my analogs after 37 years of smoking a pack a day....I couldn't believe it! I was satisfied. I did notice a slight headache and lightheadedness, but not bad to give up vaping....I was using medium cartridges 11mg nic. After reading and researching, I ordered some ejuice to refill my cartridges to get more vapor. Well I did and loved it...Blueberry.... vaped all day. It was exactly 9 days into vaping and one day with the ejuice that I felt terrible. My lungs were so sore and stiff, I was sweating like crazy, and I felt like I was going to pass out. I went to bed and slept 14 hours, went to work the next day, didn't feel like vaping, the symptons started again the next evening...chest really sore and stiff, very lightheaded and sweating...Went to bed again early, waking every 2 hours with sweats? Today I went to my Doc to see what was going on....I had a CT scan of my lungs two weeks ago cause they found a nodule....Thank God it turned out to be old scar tissue....That's one reason I wanted to give up my analogs....Anyway today the Doc took chest x-ray, EKG, bloodwork and everything turned out ok....She knew about ecigs and told me to lay off of them for 2 weeks and see if my symptons get better...If so, I can start back vaping again. It's been hard today! I have come close several times buying a pack of smokes...I know the ejuice definately was a factor and way too strong for me....I love vaping and it replaces my desire to smoke...Any help or suggestions?:confused:

Let's see if we can find the cause of this shortness of breath? I am starting to get it off and on to.

It seems to me that it can only be caused by a couple of things, either the atomizers or the juice are sending something into our lungs is that is causing shortness of breath.

I thought if the people having shortness of breath answered a few questions we might be able to find out what the problem is...

If you are getting shortness of breath how long did it take before it happened?
If you are getting shortness of breath what brand liquid are you smoking?
If you are getting shortness of breath what liquid filler (PG or VG) are you smoking?
If you are getting shortness of breath what atomizers are you using?
If you are getting shortness of breath do you smoke the ecig heavily (more that 20 times a day)?
If you are getting shortness of breath how old are you?

Good post. Might even add; How many years did you smoke?
Your questions need to be addressed. I don't think this is about VG vs PG. We need to be addressing What Juice from Which Supplier. It may very well be a product of increased demand influencing production and availability. The "suppliers" list has more than quadrupled since I came here. Buying juice is a vast grey area.
The SOB symptoms are new and many of the old symptoms seem to have dissappeared. When was the last time you heard anyone complaining about "bleeding gums"?
I used to count on China juices to be PG, but I can't be so sure now because the demand seems to be for vapor. I don't know who is selling what.

About 1 month. Here is the kicker for me though. I only started to get SOB after my Analog consumption got down to about 2-4 cigs. a day. There is a huge post about SOB at a site called steadyhealth but I can't post the link yet :(

These are not "generally" e-cig users and they are having alot of problems with sob.

If you are getting shortness of breath what brand liquid are you smoking? Multi flavor mixes
If you are getting shortness of breath what liquid filler (PG or VG) are you smoking? 90 pg/10% vg

If you are getting shortness of breath what atomizers are you using? 510 - direct drip

If you are getting shortness of breath do you smoke the ecig heavily (more that 20 times a day)? yes, if you mean more than 20 puffs

If you are getting shortness of breath how old are you? 56....but NO SOB before vaping.

I also want to add that I am coughing alot, besides the SOB. I tend to think it's just the "almost" quitting of the analogs that is bringing all this on, but I don't know that for a fact. It could be vapor related, but I hope not. 40 years of smoking is bound to take it's toll.

Update....My conclusion, Allergic to vaping. Woke up one morning after vaping the night before with a swollen face, hand & arm, lungs were sore and felt really strange and panic attacks started....I really hate this happened to me cause I throught for the first time I found something that would keep me off analogs. Hope these panic attacks go away soon? Smoking has helped somewhat.....Good Luck to everyone vaping. I'm envious that it's working for so many folks....My body says it's not meant for me...Shalom & God Bless Everyone!

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that persian! :( I was wondering if previously you tried the process of elimination approach, e.g., vaping straight unflavored PG (and/or then VG); then if ok, trying unflavored that does contain nic... To try to determine which component it might be related to, including flavors and/or dyes?

Someone also mentioned going to an allergist and having skin tests done with the liquid (it was somewhere in the Health forum... maybe even this thread, didn't go back and check! :p). Of course, not sure if skin tests can also help determine anything about the kind of reaction you had, or if there are other kinds of tests available...

All the best to you too, regardless!
