Update....My conclusion, Allergic to vaping. Woke up one morning after vaping the night before with a swollen face, hand & arm, lungs were sore and felt really strange and panic attacks started....I really hate this happened to me cause I throught for the first time I found something that would keep me off analogs. Hope these panic attacks go away soon? Smoking has helped somewhat.....Good Luck to everyone vaping. I'm envious that it's working for so many folks....My body says it's not meant for me...Shalom & God Bless Everyone!

IF you're not ready to give up on vaping - let the symptoms resolve themselves (quit vaping) like your Dr. said, then - try going to an all VG liquid. If you read through some of these threads, the symptoms you described COULD be an allergy to the PG in the liquid. The symptoms don't always show up immediately. If you were on a purely VG liquid then go to a straight PG liquid as the symptoms seem to be the same.
If this happened only after the blueberry liquid - then maybe that is the only culprit. ;)

Seems not a lot of people are sensitive to one or the other but there are more than a few.

If it means going back to analogs for a little while - then do what you have to do. Try not to make this complicated by adding different factors like gum, patches, etc that MIGHT cause more variables. I could make it harder to find where you sensitivity is.

Good Luck!

If you are getting shortness of breath how long did it take before it happened?

About 1 month. Here is the kicker for me though. I only started to get SOB after my Analog consumption got down to about 2-4 cigs. a day. There is a huge post about SOB at a site called steadyhealth but I can't post the link yet :(

These are not "generally" e-cig users and they are having alot of problems with sob.

If you are getting shortness of breath what brand liquid are you smoking? Multi flavor mixes
If you are getting shortness of breath what liquid filler (PG or VG) are you smoking? 90 pg/10% vg

If you are getting shortness of breath what atomizers are you using? 510 - direct drip

If you are getting shortness of breath do you smoke the ecig heavily (more that 20 times a day)? yes, if you mean more than 20 puffs

If you are getting shortness of breath how old are you? 56....but NO SOB before vaping.

I also want to add that I am coughing alot, besides the SOB. I tend to think it's just the "almost" quitting of the analogs that is bringing all this on, but I don't know that for a fact. It could be vapor related, but I hope not. 40 years of smoking is bound to take it's toll.

Can't edit so: My Shortness of breath is gone. It only lasted about 4-5 days accompanied by coughing. I am going to attribute it to just quitting analog cigarettes. Began vaping about a month ago, finally analog free for 5 days now. I use a pg/10% vg mix.

I too experianced sob for a while , but I read up on quitting smoking and found that this is a common occurence among those that quit and dont use vaping too.

It seems that the lungs are getting rid of junk and as it loosens up it blocks passages in the lung and makes you short of breath until the body expels it.

My sob gradually quit and i did cough up a lot of gunk, this took about a month.
I am breathing better now then I ever did!

I used anologs 2 packs a day for 50 years now 65. I have been vaping for 2 weeks. My SOB started 2 days ago. This morning I tried a new juice & SOB got bad. I checked there web & it was made of 100% VG. I have been using Halo the rest of the day & I'm better now. I think SOB is from guiting anologs. Don't know for sure but I will not go back to anologs for anything. I like vaping better then anologs. Going to test this theory when I receive several orders & let you know. All I know is I will not quit vaping. It can not be worse then smoking. I don't cough nearly as much & no more wheezing in bed it used to be bad. Has to be better for us then smoking.

I do, after three months of vaping. On cigs I never had this problem in the 12 years I smoked. Vaping 3 months and now I am having trouble breathing. The first few months were fine, symptoms just started last week. I am getting a lung function test done next week.
Anyone else have this issue??
The last couple of weeks I've again been experiencing SOB, after more than a year on ecigs and after starting D3 (about 6,000IU's and Omega-3's, (about 1700IU's) the whole bit.
But, in all honesty, I've always been very sensitive in the spring summer and fall with dust pollen and especially corn dust. (When I was little I had to stay out of the chicken house.)
When I quit smoking, my lung function was nearly zero. I could do nothing except wheeze and gurgle, morning noon and night. After about 6 weeks on the ecig and with lots of deep breathing exercise my function finally was amazingly better. Now again....my dentist looked at an x-ray a couple weeks ago and said I have a sinus thing going on (the 'white' line) and sure enough I had the first "cold" ever since I started vaping, or could be just an irritated sinus thing, it's now two weeks old, which would not be a 'normal' cold.
BUT I can now work through my SOB, where before I had to just stop and rest before I could get my breath. So it could be that you also have some 'allergy' reactions going on. My case, it's not nearly as bad as other years, just very uncomfortable, I refuse to take antihistamines, or decongestants, because those always worked against me. I feel better without them.
So I also am just kind of working through this to see where it goes, even though I feel like I'm puffing a lot, I really do still have almost full lung function.
Another piece of advice, do drink copious amounts of water. The better hydrated your lung and throat tissues the better they can move phlegm and fight infections. VG and PG would not easily allow mold to grow, they are antibacterial and a good mold fighter. That's why they use it in tobacco cigarettes, they are a humectant used for mold control by keeping moisture away from the tobacco. But I also had to stop using PG, it was really irritating my lungs and throat. VG hasn't been a problem unless I just overdo.
ALSO: there was an alert a couple weeks ago about a 'mold bloom' going on in the western states (eleven states reported). This is a very common thing, I know two people who have died from complications of mold here locally, in the upper midwest. One a neighbor down the road, on their horse farm, his developed colonies inside (in the marrow) of his facial bones! It took years to diagnose, it was so rare. The other a fellow upholsterer who had lesions in his brain attributed to a past mold infection (also un-diagnosed at the time). So if you're at all worried a good check up would be in order, and tell them your concerns so they can do specific testing.

" COULD be an allergy to the PG in the liquid."

The most over used and abused term on this forum.

Man, *every* post I see from you is just negative, dude.

I mean prudence is one thing, Id say 95% of users on here agree with you, at least somewhat, (myself included) but this broken record rhetoric is getting a little old.

If you're that unsure, put the PV down, and go read a book or smoke a real cigarette, or something.

Ok, so I am a broken record, but everyone who says the same thing over 3 billion times isnt? Every time someone gets irritated with PG, people always say its an allergy. and thats fine with you.

I have already read the reviews, even made some video reviews of my own. My main interest now in regards to ecigs is the health/safety of them. If everyone was here saying how bad they were, id be trying to show people the good side and that they are being silly. But there is such a huge bias here. and if u go against it u will be called a troll. People cant even admit that PG or whatever might be an irritant. Everyone has to be "allergic" when something goes wrong. Or people will find a million other reasons for their symptoms.

My posts is not to put anything down, its to keep an open mind with both sides, good and bad, that way we actually learn from each other, because we are the guinea pigs. stop dismissing every single symptom as an allergy. If so many people were allergic to the chemical why havent they gotten any reactions with other products since it is also stressed that PG is used in many house hold products.

Well, yes. I am having awful shortness of breath, trouble crossing the parking lot to work, worse than I ever did on cigarettes. I smoked less than ever when I finally quit and went with the ecigs. I hated what smoking was doing to me, the smell, the risk, and having smoked for 37 years, trying Chantix three times, I'm glad I found ecigs. However, I didn't smoke inside my home, and get very short breaks at work. So I have found that my vaping is increasing as time goes by, and I'm feeling worse too. In the very first few days and weeks, a cartomizer would last all day. Now that is not the case. I go through about 2 ml of juice on average a day and a cartomizer or two. It just depends. But I know that I vape more than I smoked, take my PCC into work with me and vape in the bathroom when I want to. I didn't smoke cigs in the bathroom! So for me, I think it's vaping too much in my opinion for my own good. I'm so excited to be not smoking cigarettes, and having found something that feels like a cigarette, tastes like a cigarette, and is relatively "safe", I just keep vaping more and more. I'm basically chain vaping all the time. So, therefore I think I need to vape less. Very simple. I'm not sure it's actually the PG or the VG that is causing it. Don't really know on that one. I'm Vegan, so I don't eat a lot of processed foods normally that would have PG or VG in them. I have a terrible itchy rash, and do wish I could identify the cause. Hoping it's PG cause I just bought a bunch of VG liquids! However, I take a med everyday and have for years that has PG in it. Go figure.

Ragamuffin, I wouldn't follow the pattern here. I don't think the concern is whether or not you are allergic to PG, but simply how pg effects you when inhaling it. It irritates some people more than others. Maybe the poster below is right and its allergies or something, i mean its possible. But it is also possible its something in the liquid bothering you cause you are over using it.

Hope you keep us posted, if switching to VG helps you or not. Like I said before, Im scratching my head, because alot of people I know in person who started vaping smoke51s at the local mall complained about the same thing. Feeling short of breath and stopped vaping and unfortunately went back to smoking.

Try checking this out: Google

It's the first thing that pops up on Google fill in after you've typed "shortness of breath".

Lots of people report being short of breath after quitting smoking without ever touching an e-cigarette. It's a known symptom. Some even get so frustrated by it that they go back to cigarettes to overcome it. Others are blaming it on whatever medication they started taking at the same time they quit. Sound familiar? Everything isn't all sweetness and roses like the anti-tobacco extremists would like you to believe.

I agree with you on that. I felt much better the last couple days when I didn't pay attention to the pg or vg in my juice, just vaped what I wanted to. However, I do think I am over-vaping and need to cut it down some. Too much of a good thing could still be bad. And just quitting cigarettes after 37 years has to throw your lungs a curve ball somehow.

This is such a pattern for me, finding something I like a lot, then over-indulging till I can't take it anymore. Like with the crackers I'm going off to buy right now. Can't stop eating them, constantly.

Those wouldn't happen to be Chicken in a Biskit? Those are addicting for me.

Lol. I know, those are very good. No, they are the Triscuit new flavors, Cracked Pepper w/Olive Oil, and Fire Roasted Tomato w/Olive Oil. I eat them all the time. When I run out, I HAVE to get more. Just like I did with cigaretters. Same with peanut butter too.
