Anyone else try 5v and still prefer 3.7?

So... A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a 5v Bartleby from cybervex. A buddy of mine had ordered one a few weeks prior and let me try it. I was impressed at how much more vapor and flavor there was, as well as the fact that the vapor was warm (something I did not realize I was missing from analogs). However, after receiving mine and using it for a few days, I'm finding myself going back to my stock 510 ecig more and more.

For starters, my all day vape is Cafe Mocha from Tastyvapor. At 5v, I get a burnt taste with this flavor. I've also been using a homemade Creme de Menthe flavor that was awesome initially, but has lately taken on a very harsh feel when I inhale that wasn't there before. The only flavor that has stayed consistent is Cignot's Ecopure English Toffee. I have been dripping only as I can't use my blue foam at 5v.

So here are my options. I am thinking about ordering an adaptor and a couple of 801 atty's, or I can sell the Bartleby and get a 3.7 mod (been eying the Protege). What do you guys and gals recommend? I'm pretty strapped on cash (baby on the way ), so I can't really afford to try a bunch of different methods.

Well I can say the Protege might not be what you are looking for... only because the chance of having button issues are there (even if not everone had issues)... one thing you could try to minimize the harshness is the 306 atty... the threads are just like the 510... it is a bit cooler (IMO) and the flavor could be what you are looking for.

I only suggest this because all you need to do is try a new atty... and you can keep your

I have heard that some flavors vape better cooler and some warmer - maybe its just a case of using your 3.7v for the Cafe Mocha and trying other flavors on the 5v?

I don't have a 5v PT yet but I have it on order. My current PT (the inline battery type) vapes hotter than my reg manual batt 510 and some flavors (like my butter rum and dulce de leche from TV) taste nicer on the PT than the manual but the coffees tend to taste 'deeper' on the manual batt, they can taste a little harsh on the PT. I have no reason to suppose this is going to change with the higher volt PT.

I have a Protege and the V2, I do prefer the true (3.7) over the 5v.

With that said some flavors are enhanced with 5v and some get tainted with 5v. My go to is the Protege, but I do use the V2 when I am looking for something stiffer.

It's nice to have options.

Yes there are some that are experiencing issues with the button (not me).

You may want to look at the S6 from Super T Manufacturing, Innovative manufacturer of electronic cigarette products.

You'll have the option of 3.7 and 6v.

You can get a Silver Bullet and have both 6 and 3.7V (depending on which
batt you put in it) and it's 99$. The Super 6 is nice too, but it's more money.
Some juices (esp the sweeter ones) seem to taste better at 3.7 where
the others (and tobacco) flavors are better at 5 or 6V.
It's a good idea to have one PV do both unless you only vape one kind
(and brand) of juice all the time and never plan to change.
The Silver Bullet has been around awhile and has a proven track record.

P.S. Oh, and it has no switch problem

There seems to be something with this suggestion.

I am trying this out now and agree this is a good direction to go with 5v.

I made a 5v mod and although it works awesome for all the reasons you mentioned, it does provide a harsher and warmer vape that I can't handle as a daily vaper. When the mood is right I'll use it for a few good vapes, but otherwise I use my 3.7v as my daily PV.

In my opinion, make your own 3.7 volt mods or 5 volt and have more money left over for spending on juices and the baby. Congrats, by the way!

I agree.

I almost exclusively use cartomizers with an SB at 6 volts. I never get a burnt or scorched taste. All my juices taste fine at 6 volts using cartomizers. Some juices do taste slightly better at 3.7 volts, while others taste slightly better at 6 volts. However, increased vapor production and TH, at least for me, are the deciding factors for choosing 6 volt vaping.

Many companies sell a 510 to KR808d-1 adaptor; just look for that. I purchase mine from AltSmoke.

Personally, I really enjoy my 5v vapes. I own a Prodigy v1, GLV and a bartleby. For the burnt taste, I suggest obtaining a 510 to 801 adapter and trying the flavors again.

I find most tobacco ejuices are too harsh with anything above 3.7 I find a 3.7 with a higher ma is great. It makes quite a difference. Most 3.7s have an current rating of 180ma or less. they only produce great results when fully charged, and go downhill very quickly. I got some 3.7s at health Cabin with the rating of 280ma, and give a stronger vaping experience. They also have adapters for most ecigs. I have already ordered the 3.7 380ma from them. The 280 ma batteries are $10, and the 380ma models are $12. If you are strapped for cash, be aware that the higher voltages consume more eliquid faster than the 3.7 models. I beleve that the regular ecigs were kept at 3.7 for good reasons. One is for economy of use with carts, the other to lengthen the battery life. If economy is your goal, you might think of the 3.7

I agree, this adaptor is a "must have" for any serious vape-head
