I have found that I don't care for very strong flavors...so I often cut the eliquid with plain vg/pg, usually by 50%! Depending on the starting nic level of my juice, I either add pg/vg with nicotine to maintain the level, or no-nic to lower the level. (the second method is definitely cheaper!). I like some throat hit, so I usually do 80pg/20vg. Mt baker vapor has decent prices on both nic and no-nic liquid, but amazon has excellent prices for no-nic pg and vg.
My favorite mix is 1/2 unflavored, 1/2 TVR Tobacco (from thevaporroom.net) with 1-2 drops of hot chocolate flavor. Yum! Since you like menthol, you might like mister-e-liquid's Snowday...it a sort of creamy menthol flavor...very refreshing!
Good luck with finding a flavor you enjoy!

That probably would have been a great way to start off, had I known that was the way to do it. No one told me or offered me the option of non flavored juice. I didn't even know it existed until this thread. The store I bought my starter kit from certainly didn't mention it to me.

My mother, who uses Green Smoke products, has given me her PV's to use in the past. Unfortunately when she was using analogs she was a Virginia Slim Ultra Light 120 smoker. Its like puffing on a cloud, nothing there. So her Green Smoke PV is the same way. It isn't flavored and until this thread it never clicked. I hated her PV. I didn't last 2 hours without an analog when using her stuff. I was a Camel Crush menthol or a Pall Mall menthol smoker. Harsh is my friend. Sweet is not my buddy. I guess that sums it up. 0.o

Well when I've starting vaping about 6 month ago, I've started as all the other buying premade e-liquid.
Now i like to just buy unflavored base and add flavor.
Anyway as i said is better to vape different flavor IMHO.
One more thing :D i was on 40 cigarette rolled per day! and I really hated sweet flavor! No my fav is Rhum Jamaica from FA.
Anyway i don't stick with it cause I know that i can end up hating it, so i vape unflavored, maxx-blend, 7 leafs, Rhum Jamaica, and peppermint :D
Of course i can mix Rhum and peppermint with maxx-blend and 7 leafs ;)
I never get disgusted, of course this is my experience :)

I'm another unflavored advocate. I've tried flavors......... and more flavors, and when I would finally find one I liked, a week, or a month later, I wouldn't be able to stand the flavor I previously liked. I get some nic base in PG and some pure VG from Wizard labs, and I was off. Unflavored tastes either peppery or sweet depending on the PG/VG mix in my opinion. Not strong at all, more like just a hint of mild flavor. Very pleasant in my experience. Now I sometimes realize I've been vaping unflavored for 3 or 4 days straight. When I do break out a flavor that I like, it is a pleasant experience, but I find that I no longer burn out on flavor. I just wish I had learned about unflavored juice earlier in my vaping career.

And yes, you can make unflavored for under $2.00 for 30ml. It just tastes all the sweeter! :)

Smoked menthols exclusively for 46 years. If I was desperate and bummed a non-menthol, I couldn't ever finish it ...

After 6 months of vaping and maybe a couple of dozen bottles of various flavored juices I haven't used more than once, I think I finally realized I just like menthol. I thought I would like a coffee flavor, but all I've tried have been disappointing so far ...

Stuck on 24mg Halo SubZero at the moment, mixed with a 48mg Fresh Menthol from MyFreedomSmokes, so I guess it averages out to about 36mg ...

But based on a recommendation in another thread here, I ordered Arctic Wolf from VaporGod, its supposed to be the most powerful menthol out there. Will know in a few days ...

Inawera make an unflavored base called dirty. The difference is that is not sweet. You can buy PG and VG and make your mix or just buy dirty VPG.
I've tried it but I really don't like it.
Anyway vaping for some day unflavored help to appreciate again flavored liquid.

If suggested when you were a newcomer, would you have taken it seriously? I vape nothing else, but it doesn't seem like it would be accepted for a newcomer. I usually wait until posts like this to make the suggestion.

IMO, even buying flavoring with it to make a single flavor vape and adjusting to preference would be a better experience than the cost and wait and such for store bought.

As for the caramel. it will taste burnt when it is mixed to strong.
If you like caramel, get some unflavored base, and add 1 drop of the caramel you already have.
That's really diluting it, which will "fix" the flavor.
Then, keep adding 1 drop at a time until you like it.
That way you should be able to salvage the caramel if your interested in it.

You might like a creme de mint..there are dozens of menthol type flavors out there.
Another suggestion, next time you order a flavor (if you do), order it in double the nicotine you use, and then mix it
half and half with a plain PG/VG mix of your choice.
That will cut the flavor in half, and bring the nicotine level down to what you use.
That is the only way you will get a "mildly" flavored juice without mixing your own at home from scratch.
    Good Luck on your journey.

I can also relate to this problem.

When I started about 6 weeks ago, I liked all the flavours so much - butterscotch, menthol, energy drink and what not! I have around 60 bottles in my drawer of various suppliers and flavours.

BUT after two weeks or so, all the juices started to taste too strong to me, flavour wise. I don't want to EAT A CAKE all day long! :)

I found a perfect solution for this problem - DIY!

I started making my own juices. Not only this is cheaper, I was also easily create my own, 3% nic strength juices in various VG/PG ratios. And mixing is really not that complicated at all.

So what I do now is I mix my own, flavourless juice and store it it 30ml bottles. When I need to fill a tank, I just put 10 or so drops of original, FLAVOURED juice I bought from various suppliers and simply dilute it with my own flavourless juice.

    THIS WORKS BRILLIANTLY!

I don't know why flavours in store/online bought juices are that strong but you don't need it that strong! All it takes is 1o drops of pre-made juice in a 2ml tank and you'll still taste the flavour great BUT you won't have that all day cake flavour in your mouth.

The best part - it's super cheap and now I have juices to mix for next 5 years, lol

When I started vaping I tried and tried to find a flavor I really liked, wasted a lot of money in the effort. Then I turned to DIY, if I could not find a satisfying ADV I would create one, again I spent a lot of of money and accumulated well over 50 jars of flavorings.

Then I read a post where another DIY'er suggested dripping unflavored in your atty to clean it out between testing your flavor experiments. So, I started dripping unflavored just to clean out my atomizer, and Lo and Behold I discovered the perfect vape. Unflavored nic. It was the most perfectly satisfying vape (for me, at least). In the two years since I made that discovery I have not wanted to mess up my vaping by adding flavoring to my eliquid, it is just perfect without.
