I started vaping to get off of snus. If you do not know what snusing is it is basically like chewing. I also was what I will call a casual smoker. I smoked about three rolled cigarettes a day. Then I learned about snus and bought some to try. I gradually got up to using two cans a week and constantly had a snus in my mouth. I traded smoking for what my doctor called a worse use of tobacco. He said he would rather deal with my lungs than cut my face up when I got mouth cancer. I snused all the time because nobody could tell and I could use anywhere. I am almost totally off snus now. I snus a little at work where I cannot vape but have cut use down to a can every two weeks. I do not smoke analogs anymore and do not like the smell and it really irritates my eyes. I do not know anyone else that vapes. My friends still smoke. Anyone else start vaping for reasons other than to stop smoking? It is great to be here. I don't feel like such an oddball with my fellow vapers here.

I smoked for years, quit but a few years later started dipping. Like you mentioned, you can get away with using it anytime, anywhere. I was going through a can every couple of days. I quit completely two days after first trying vaping. I'm like three months tobacco free. I'm happy with the change but I do miss how I could chew without anyone noticing. I feel self conscious about vaping in public still. But yea, I'm off the Skoal because of vaping.

I started vaping just to do it occasionally, for instance on long car trips, avoiding to stop to smoke an analog, as i did not smoke in the car when I had passengers. It just happened hat I liked vaping much more than smoking, so that I quit analogs right away with no effort on my part. That was on may 31st, 2014.
I had started with an EVOD kit and e-juice with 12mg nicotine content.
I still use the EVOD, mostly when I go out, as it is easy to carry around and, while producing adequate vapor, does not produce really big clouds.
Recently, I acquired an Aerotank Mega and a Provari Mini. I use those devices at home mostly.

Although I did not start vaping to quit analogs, I did gave up smoking. I get from vaping all I ever liked about smoking (inhaling and exhaling the smoke/vapor, getting nicotine). What I get with vaping that smoking could not provide is: a choice of great flavors, the choice of nicotine level so that I can reduce nicotine over time to reduce my dependency on it, a much cheaper alternative than smoking, immediate health effects such as a reduced heart rate, increased lung capacity and oxygen saturation level along with no more coughinf and sore throat.

Nynvolt I don't vape in public except at the casino where there are a lot of smokers. I am very self conscious about vaping in public also, even in my car. I am older and a lot of people think I am using drugs other than nicotine. I vape around my friends and they are curious and want try it.

What mg nic juice do you use? I started at 24mg and am now down to 18mg. Snusing has been harder to quit than smoking for me due to the convenience of it. I still use about twice a day at work but that is a big improvement for me.

I started vaping to quit smoking. However, when I was exploring equipment, I bought a eGo Twist + Kanger Pro Tank II at a local shop and it ended up being too big for my purposes, so I passed it along to my husband.

He quit smoking cigarettes (cold turkey!) like almost 10 years ago, but recently smokes more and more cheap cigars... at least one a day. I thought he might enjoy vaping. Well he fell in love with it on day one and hasn't smoked a cigar since.

I had picked up sharing analogs with my hub because otherwise I couldn't stand the smell. ? years later I go off to a conference and notice I'm antsy and cranky and what I really wanted was a cigarette. I saw my Dad die from lung cancer 2 years ago and not only wanted to stop but desperately want hub to stop. I bought us both little evods and some juice. I LOVED it immediately and haven't smoked with him since then. I've graduated to a Vision Spinner II and my MVP v2 should be here Monday along with Aspire mini and Protank 3 and some great juice and I'm in heaven. I could vape all of the time! Hub is still trying to vape during the day on 16 mg nic and finds he's still wanting a cigarette so I'm looking for NET (?) tobacco at a high nic for him to go on his spinner.

So to wrap up maybe I did take up vaping to get away from the analogs but I never did consider myself a smoker AND I love love all of the cool equipment and flavors.

Just curious, do you wear glasses? The reason I ask, is that you said cigarette smoke irritates your eyes. I had noticed when I smoked, that if I was wearing my glasses, and some smoke found its way between the lens and my eyes, it really irritated them, but when I wore my contacts, no irritation at all.

Reasons I started to vape:
1) Save money possibilities
2) curiosity

Never - never - never intended to quit smoking!

10 days later, I had had my last 1/2 .... of cigarette

43 years at 1-2 packs a day (PAD) done and over for me.

Btw, from everything I have read, your doctor is way out of touch with the reality of snus!

Sweden, home of Snus, is the benchmark for data relevant to tobacco harm reduction, with some of the lowest incidence of cancers in the world.

This data was cited by the FDA when they approved nicotine reduction products (gums, patches, etc) for long-term, even lifetime use.

You'd do well to ease much of your stress & concerns over snus use with more research and investigation into the exponentially lower associated risks of harm.

You might start with CASAA.org, Carl Phillips, Brad Rodu and Michael Siegel

One more thought... check into more information about the myths associated with nicotine, and some of the actual benefits that have been identified with it: Welcome! - Nicotine Science and Policy This site is a wealth of information & is from ECF guru Rolygate

Best of luck in this new chapter in your life!

Cabinetguyscott I researched snus and will look at the information you posted. Snus does not have the chemicals that chew does and is steamed not baked with the only additive being pg. Snus is banned in many countries in the EU. I am not trying to stop using nicotine completely just trying to Snus less and vaping is working.

Congrats on stopping the analogs and vape on! Thanks for all of the great information.

Cloud Minder I only where glasses at work. I am a desk jockey and I have eye strain due to my profession. My eyes are pretty sensitive though.

Smokin Rabbit my cigar collection sits untouched. I just tell people I am aging them but I have no desire to smoke one. I am thinking of selling some to fund a new mod.

This is me, also. I started vaping out of curiosity and to encourage my gf to quit smoking. Now I scarcely touch my beloved stogies.

Thanks. My father smoked just like everyone else did in the 50's and beyond. He stopped in the 70's and never looked back but still lung cancer. I don't even like to think that there might be a worse way to die.

I'm okay with 6mg although I think I'm going to have to find a really good, smooth, non-tobacco juice in at least an 18 just to have around for those times you really "need" that higher nicotine. In my current rotation I have Five Pawns Castle Long Reserve, Suicide Bunny's Mother's Milk and I'm really liking Vapor Girl's Valkerie and Dirty Horchata.

I'm NOT liking this Vision Spinner II, I'm pretty sure it's a fake, it won't hold a charge 1/2 a day and the B&M where I got it? Dude didn't know the correct colors for percentage of charge. I love it when it works but I'm anxious for my MVP v2 to arrive for sure. Love both the Protank 3 and the Aspire Mini Nautilus; no complaints other than the Aspire needed a little fiddling after I cleaned it the first time.

i wanted to "smoke" near my children without exhaling smoke for them to breathe. still planned on smoking outside when i could. never planned to quit. tried many times before and conceded it wasn't going to happen. started vaping november 3 2013. by the 17th i'd gone from nearly 4PAD to only 12 cigarettes in 2 weeks and i was done for good. fought urges and stress headaches for quite some time afterward until i found RDAs, mechs and REOs. now life is easy peasy and i'd never touch a cig again. i can breath first thing in the morning too.

I started vaping to quit analogs...but my bf, who smoked in his 20s, recently wanted a set-up for a road trip so he wouldn't get bored while driving (bored = sleepy). He got 3mg just for a little jolt. He occasionally will puff on a cigar while golfing, so he wasn't afraid of a little nic - it helps him concentrate and he knows it. I see him use it now maybe 5-6 times per day - but he likes to carry it with him all the time. He'll take a few puffs while the car is cooling down, when we get to our destination, if I take a puff off of mine next to him, etc. He forgot to take it to work today, no big deal.

I smoked on and off for a year and a half. When I wasn't smoking, I was dipping. I traded the habits back and forth. I unfortunately have spend the last 2 days dipping because I'm out of juice and can't get any for about a week. It made me remember how amazing it is to dip in the shower or when working in the yard. I don't know if I want to give it up again. Vaping dries my throat and is a lot of upkeep. I love to vape, but it isn't super convenient right now when I'm packing and moving. I hope to get more into it again once I'm moved. I have also vaped on and off for about a year and a half.

I ordered a 510 and told myself that after spending 60 bucks for it I was definitely going to at least try to use it and maybe cut down from 2 PAD to maybe 1 PAD. Once I tried it, I never smoked another cigarette. I just wish we had Egos and Vamos back then. I used the 510 and a 907 for about 3 months and then built my first box mod and used 14500 batteries.
