From reading this forum, I've noticed that:

Lots of folks have given up analogs through vaping.
Lots of folks lament the cigarette/nicotine addiction.
The Zero-Nic Group has barely any members.

Why is that? I would think folks would look to step down their nic usage over time but it doesn't sound like that many are after reading things here for a while. Personally, I miss the TH from nic juices, but I'm still staying clear of them. Would like to hear how much folks have stepped it down and if not, why not, etc.

I'm now a zero nic vaporer no longer addicted to nic. I think there's more zero nic vaporers on ECF than you realize although no, I don't think the numbers are very high. Quite a few people falll into the category of using zero nic part of their day and use nic juice at other times of their day. Many here on the forum started at higher levels of nic and have worked their way to using lower levels of nic than they started with.

A lot of people that work their way down to zero nic do end up giving up vaping after a while. When that happens they move onto other things and away from this forum in most cases, so they simply aren't here to hear from any longer. Every once in a while I see a post from someone that made it to zero nic and gave up vaping that months later found themselves relasping into smoking again, or feels that is very likely and comes back to get support for returning to their PV's.

I'm sure there's many different reasons, but a lot of people enjoyed smoking and now that they vape they enjoy vaping and aren't interested in attempting to give up their nic addiction. For others their addiction to nic remains very strong.

I didn't start vaping to give up analogs but it quickly become apparent to me that's what I wanted to do and did so fairly easily. Weeks later I made a decision to work towards becoming nic free. I never expected it to happen as quickly as it did. For me, I'm simply not addicted to nic any longer. I am still addicted to the actions of vaping and feel no rush to give that up. Yes, I do expect to give it up someday, just have no idea when. This coming from a 30+ yr smoker who smoked 2 pad. I still have some low mg nic juice left that I really like and sometimes I still vape it, not for the nic that I no longer need just because I like the flavor of the juice. When it's gone it will be gone.

I am stepping down to 6mg soon I think.

Higher than that just makes me too stimulated in the evening and I do not like it. It's good for the daytime, but in the evening I want to feel relaxed.

I still smoke tho, I have cut my intake down to around 50% because vaping just does not give that relaxing feeling that cigs do. I feel that e-liquids need maybe the moai's or some toher tobacco consituant added to them to make them more relaxing.

Well said Grandmato*

I often vape 0nic, especially the desert type of flavors that I enjoy chain vaping while at the pc.
For a few months I was completely 0nic, even my tobacco flavors were 0 nic. I gradually cut back on my nic by adding a few drops of same flavored 0nic to my cart/carto each refill, gradually over weeks and months, at my comfort level, until I was down to completely 0nic.
But when I stress out, I need my nicotine for some reason, so I go back to using nicotine for a spell, then go through the 0nic routine all over again.
You can't do that with cigarettes, the patch or the gum. They say you can, but you can't. THEY regulate your dose to THEIR comfort level, not yours.
My goal is to be completely 0nic even through stress and I'm learning my way by doing it MY way.
Can't beat that.
Oh, and I've been vaping for only 1 year. I might have 0nic'd myself too soon, being too excited to become nic free. I'm a calmer vaper now and know my stress triggers like the backside of my pv. :)
When I do become nic free for months on end even through stress, I won't be here drooling over the newest and latest mods, I'll be out on the dancefloor with my honey. I won't remember to join the 0nic club unfortunately. In fact, I didn't even know there was a club lol. I'll try to remember to join it when it's time to do so though.

bpd?? I assume (although I know that is dangerous) that you are referring to bipolar disease. Because I deal with bipolar disease, I am wondering how you figure it helps the bipolar disease. Like I said, I am just curious and not trying to pull anything. I, too, have recently stepped way down on my nic. Was at 30-36 mgs and am down to 6-12 mgs. I figure if I can get down to about 3 mgs and stay there, I will be happy....at least until I finish school next year.

Anne

I stepped WAY down-but think I'm happy where I normally am now (6-12 mg). Any lower and my bpd starts to rear it's ugly head more than it does now.....then I have to go back up.

I have long known that my real addiction was to the smoking (although my body is surely also addicted to nicotine). I also knew long ago that in order to quit analogs I would need something close to "smoking" versus just nicotine replacement. I began vaping to quit smoking. Although I get the feeling that some may see this statement as the ultimate betrayal (LOL), I want to reduce the nic and then cut out the vaping. I do no want to need anything other than food and other humans :). I am now at 6mg (which is where I began 3 weeks ago) and will relatively soon start the (pain in the ....) effort of mixing liquids to be 3 mg, then to 0 mg. Given what I do for a living, I cannot afford to be a screaming banshee for even a day, so I will take it slow!

I want to cut down on my nic intake, but I don't like the taste of lower mgs. I started at 30mg, then went to 24mg and now I am trying 18mg, but it just isn't that easy to go any lower. I was a 2 pack a day for close to 40 yrs and I am just thankful that I am completly away from analogs! Haven't had one since July 15th. I have quite before and alway went back, even after a year the first time, but since I started vaping I have had no desire for and analog, so I don't ever plan on quitting vaping, maybe some day I will work my way down to 0 but not in the near future I can tell you that!

I have no interest in ending my addiction to nicotine (why this is might make an interesting post all by itself), but when I started I stepped my way up to 24mg. Since then, I've stepped back down to 18mg, where I'll probably stay. The reason was simple -- I enjoy it more at 18. I can vape more frequently without having to watch my intake, and the juice just taste better to me at that nic level.

You're not alone...I have no desire to get rid of the nicotine. I actually went up from where my GreenSmoke was to what I use with my liquids. And I like it better!

I used some 36 getting started, and never really liked the way it sat with me. Used 24 for the better part of a year, and now have no problem using 18 or 16. I'd like to be down to 12 by mid summer. I'll probably be ready to set the ecig down all together before to long. While I enjoy it, I've been doing it for a good bit now. I can see being ready for a break in the near future.

I started @ 24

Went down to 18ish

Now I occasionally vape 6-12mg

rest of the time it's 0nic or not vaping at all. I even tried (with success) to not vape for 2weeks. When I started my intentions were not to quit entirely, but to find a better alternative. I was never able to quit cold turkey, and the other options were not worth beans.

Everyone is different, but like some have mentioned already.. there are more 0nic members that you may think,,, some are just not active on the forum as much as before.

It's just like flavorless vaporers ;) you don't here much from them either :D
