Thats would make it a "Bumper Dumper Shooter" my friend!!
The ultimatecrapper website has a list of available accessories that crack me up. Included are such items as a foot warmer, TV and additional seats...for those who like to "double dump" I suppose...Sorry I missed that Top Gear episode. What a hoot!
Still...I wonder why there's no available ASH tray....hahaha

Unlike most, my main go to weapons, at least when it comes to guns, are my pistols. I have the shotguns and high powered rifles and all, but in my small town, I think my edged weapons will serve me best. Having my 2 pistols I think should be good enough. I plan on loading ALL of my guns and driving as far as I can, but if gas runs out and I have to make choices as far as what to take and what to keep with me, my 2 cold steel two handed machetes, my long gerber gator machete, various other knives, my 2 xd45's and of course my beloved Ruger 10/22.

If you run across my truck on the highway, and its out of gas, be sure to check the back for a duffle bag full of weapons that I am leaving behind.

Since I currently can't tell a bb gun from a real gun, I am looking forward to some education. And, Yes Mutt, if I see a truck left unattended on the highway, I'm checking the back for a duffle bag for sure! If you would be so kind as to leave a note for me, that'd be swell. I wouldn't want to accidently grab Freaky's bag of napalm by mistake!

Today, instead of a "tip" of the day, the ZSG tells of a recorded Zombie attack coming out of Santa Monica Bay, CA in April 1994;

Three Palos Verdes residents reported to police that they were attacked while fishing in the bay. The three men swore that they had been fishing when the line hooked a large, heavy catch. What broke the surface was a man, naked, partially burned, partially decomposed, and still alive. The man attacked the three fishermen, grabbing one and attempting to bite him on the neck. They smashed the creature in the face with an oar. The attacker sank beneath the surface while the three fishermen headed for shore. All 3 were tested for drugs & alcohol by the police showing no traces of either.
So...I guess the lesson here is to be vigilant! Training needs to prepare us Zombie hunters and survivalists to react to an unexpected attack automatically like Chuck Norris in a bar fight. Using their available weapons (oars) was quick thinking and possibly saved their lives.
I'm adding an Oar to my arsenal of low tech "whacking" devices which includes bats, pipes & flashlights.

ZSG calendar today discusses Public Spaces; Shopping Malls

I'll paraphrase; Large shopping centers are indefensible structures, and are targets for both humans & zombies during social disturbance.
If the crisis occurs suddenly, people may be trapped inside the mall, and there could be trampling, chaos etc... This chaos will of course attract the walking dead...

What may initially seem like a great place to "stock up" and maybe grab a Starbucks or Hotdog on a Stick could quickly turn into the center of mayhem and feasting for the Zombies.

Now, this tidbit got me thinking about another thread here discussing tents & casino-resorts... Would a resort not be very much like a shopping mall?

The ZSG states that "At the first sign of trouble, concentrations of wealth swarm with private security, police...etc" - attracting the very types of undead we're attempting to avoid?

Perhaps our plan of the week needs to include how to escape from the mall if all hell breaks loose while I'm trying on jeans at Penney's....

Nice tip...that is one of the main reasons my zombie plan doesnt include trying to take over a Sams club, mall, prison or Army base. While in theory, having a ready made stock pile of food and water is a good thing, much like the tidbit says, people will be swarming these areas, and that will bring the undead there as well. Thats why my #1 plan at the moment is to head away from people, stores and cities. Large groups of people will be like a buffet for the walkers.

Malls, stores, abandoned homes etc should be reserved for recon missions AFTER you have your base of operations established and protected. The ZPOTW talks about surviving the first 72 hours, and this is a prime example. Let the chaotic first days die down, let the unprepared masses kill off what few zombies they can before they become z-food, and then once the dust has settled, and your camp or whatever has been established, then and only then should you risk a recon mission.

technovapir, you bring up a good point about what happens if the virus hits while you are already out and about, such as trying on jeans at a store. Well at one point in my life, many many many years ago, I was in the boy scouts, and I remember their motto, "be prepared". My wife will tell ya, I dont leave the house without at least 1 gun on me (usually my 45), and I usually have at least 1 long gun in the car or truck and most times, i have my 3 day bag as well. I am not paranoid about zombies, (ok, maybe just a little), but I try to be prepared at all times. Carry permits for guns, depending on the state, are usually easily obtained. I suggest not only getting your permit, but also getting a carry gun and being prepared. Much like I said in the ZPOTW, the one person you can count on, is you.

TRUE STORY:

A couple weeks ago my dad was in the hospital. I have been to many hospitals and they have never turned off any lights, especially in the hallways. Well my sister was up from Florida and we were in the smoking area outside. The smoking area is right next to the doors for the morgue. Anyways, as we were outside talking (i was still vaping at this time while she was smoking) I brought up the series the walking dead and we were talking about it. I told her that basically the guy wakes up in the hospital and finds that no one is around and that the zombies were here.

Anyways, we were walking back up to the ICU room, and we turn down the long hallway that leads to ICU, and all the lights are out. Not even those emergency lights were on. So we walk down the hallway, but I had the 45 out. she asks me what I was doing, and I said this is how the Zombie Apocalypse starts, with a couple people walking down a hallway not having a clue whats going on. I was joking, but i DID have the gun on me, and it was out and ready. Moral of the story: be prepared.

Trying for 'combination' weapons that serve multiple purposes is always good advice. Maglights were designed to replace the nightstick while providing a reliable light source and an all around good thing to keep handy. :D

Good advice here. I got me one of them there mag lights in the truck ready for action. And I know (in theory...thats my story) that they can beat the living hell out of someone.

Yeah, I saw a grabby panhandler get a dozen stitch reminder from an on duty officer outside of a Greyhound station (Dad was a driver at the time) years ago. It went from light to 'lights out' with a quick forward flick of the wrist. Moral of the story is: Don't grab a cops shirt thinking that 'being in a public place' won't draw a swift reaction. I watched the papers for any news and I did see a report of an officer being assaulted on that date and that the suspect was 'quickly apprehended'. I had to chuckle a little at that part. The effectiveness of a Maglight as baton (or any other 'stick') is in the kinetic weight quickly traveling until it abruptly stops and transfers that energy into whatever stopped it's movement. Who knew you could actually use math outside of school for more than balancing checkbooks? :D

Sure am glad I chose to sit in my tent and watch the zombie buffet instead of being it. :) I tell my wife that she's going to be zombie food. She can't walk quietly to (literally) save her life. :)

You'll have to CARRY her then right? LOL... My husb Talks really really loud. He even whispers LOUD! I have told him he's going to be Zombie food as well...If someone at the movie theatre doesn't get him first!

ZSG - today's topic is Weapons Care
Care for Your Tools:
Weapons, no matter how simple they may be, must be cared for as if they were living things.
Inspection and cleaning are part of everyday use.
Blades need polish & rust protection.
Grips need checking and maintenance.
Never abuse your tools or expose them to unnecessary damage.
Have them tested regularly by experienced professionals.
Experts may detect early-stage defects imperceptible to the amateur user.

I found today's topic to be a bit dry...so here's another one from the recycle bin dated Feb 2nd; Regarding Weapons & Combat techniques;

Train constantly: no matter what your weapon of choice; machete to rifle, it must become an extension of your body.
Take classes if available.
Practice disassembly in both sunlight & total darkness. (as well as reassembly I presume...)
You will need experience & confidence in order to successfully do battle with the living dead.

**many of these tips could also be applied to your e-cigarette units as well ***:vapor:

"Defense Strategies for 2 story Homes" is today's topic...

Demolish the staircase! "Zombies are unable to climb" Your life depends on it!
Do not try to burn your stairs away...your efforts could end with death by fire or total accidental destruction of your home!

Methods such as boarding up windows & doors do not work because small groups of zombies are able to break through any homemade barricade.

**Has it been proven that Zombies cannot climb?** I really need to know for sure****

So far, I have agreed with what the calendar has been saying, but this one, I can not get behind.

First, if you destroy their way up, that also means you have destroyed your way down. While a second story jump probably wont kill you, the chances of sprained ankles are too high, especially while trying to fight and run from the undead. Also, the kitchen area (food supply) is usually located on the first floor as well. While you might be safe for a little while stranded upstairs, eventually you will grow hungry and will have to leave.

I would think that if you are in a 2 story house, prepare NOW and have burglar bars installed on all of your lower windows and make sure your garage, front and back doors, any sliding doors etc are capable of being well secured. Eventually, the undead MAY penetrate the barricades, but it should also give you time to get your stuff gathered and a zombie plan set in motion.

The home front plan, depending on where you live, is an OK plan for the beginning, but for long term zombie survival, you will need a secured compound.
