Until you are unable to pay your bill and the service shuts off automatically... Cell phones won't last, CB's and HAM's will since they use the atmosphere and not sat relays to function.

Oh, they won't be the final means of communication, but I will milk them for all they're worth, just while I am mobile. I mainly want to have as much portable battery power as I can grab while I have a vehicle to carry them in and stash them in later.

Happy Monday Zombie Vapors, today the calendar topic is "Dousing". It seems to me like we've already discussed this in the Molotov section, but here are the highlights from today:

Dousing: filling a bucket with flammable liquid, throwing it at a zombie hoard, lighting a match and running like hell.
Danger: close proximity required.

It's slightly different. The Molotov uses a little soap to help it stick to the target and it's portable/thrown. The bucket isn't something you'd want to fill up and carry around with you! You'd have to fill and toss which doesn't give the same range but could cover a larger area before being ignited. Just think water balloon vs bucket of water in a water gun war.

I nominate Freaky to be in charge of dousing operations...He seemed pretty comfortable with combustible liquids and setting things on fire...
(Mac - don't read further...)
Freaky - would you like to be a double agent and volunteer to infiltrate Mac's casino operations? I believe Mutt will have your back...shhhhh...

LOL, I've got adequate fire handling skills, so that wouldn't be a problem. I've actually got a nice plan for a fiery moat that can be quite effective and only use a minimal amount of fuel with maximum kill potential, plus it will remove the close proximity danger from the equation. Naphtha and diesel would be highly recommended for this activity.

I don't know about any other stuff though. Self-preservation is my primary goal. You can't help others unless you are in a condition to. This means defending yourself against all possible dangers. ;^)

I was looking for an online plan for the stationary 'defensive' flamethrower (Huge in ground reservoir and several hundred foot range) and stumbled across this text version of a book I bought over a decade ago. IF you so choose to follow any instructions, do so at your own risk! Ragnar knows his stuff but I have to throw the disclaimer in there.
Breath of the Dragon
The book comes with nifty pictures and is worth buying as well. Plus it's longer than 15 pages :D

The topic today is "Recorded Attacks" dated 500 BC Africa;

Some voyager called Hanno of Carthage wrote in his sea log that he ignored a soothsayer's warning and sent an expedition inland to look for water. He sent 35 men in, and only 7 returned. The survivors told a tale about man-beasts in the jungles who had feasted upon the other 28 men.
Because the soothsayers had told Hanno that the survivors would "bring sorrow on all they touched" they were abandoned there on the jungle island while the ship hastened away without them.

So. In order to make this little story interesting, let's just imagine that YOU are one of the 7 left behind. What is your first order of business? How do you take control of the situation and survive? Is it possible?

Or - Consider that perhaps the 7 survivors were LYING...What if they really found a city of gold filled with beautiful lonely women...Maybe the 35 sailors were sick & tired of Hanno and sent the 7 "survivors" back to him with this crap story - knowing he'd go away, and they could live out their life in splendor and beauty.
Hmmm.

Hmm, interesting. If the story was true and I was one of the 7 survivors, then the first order of business to to make weapons for defense. We already know that the island is full of cannibals, so defense is number one. Then like the rest of any good zombie plan, food shelter and water and prepare to fight.

If the story was bogus, and made up to protect the city of gold and all those beautiful women, then the first order of business is to kill the 6 others with me, then sneak back to the city, and slowly assassinate all the others until I am the only one left, (the other explorers, not the beautiful island women) and then proclaim myself king and ruler of the city.

Mutt, I agree with both of your plans! Although, I must say that for a minute I thought Mac had stolen your password and added the 2nd paragraph because it kind of sounds like how I envision his casino plan

I have to make posts like that every now and then so Mac will trust me
