Decided to pick one of these things up today. I am slowly switching my vape equipment over to Nickel with temperature control.
This device should make capturing nickel wire easy and gives me lots of room between connection posts for the extra coil lengths
that nickel requires.

This did not appeal to me as much for kanthal because I prefer 26 and 24 gauge, but for nickel, I think it’s perfect.
Got an extra 9 euros off for the holidays too.

Yep I too am waiting for my rDNA40 - and my Apollo would be the first target for Ni200 escapades ;)

Managed to put a single coil nickel build on my new Apollo RDA yesterday. This thing is perfect for nickel wire builds. Easy to place the coil, plenty of room between posts for all the extra wraps and the wire screws make a strong connection. Plenty of room for dual coils as well.

Flavor is very good and the juice well hold a lot more than I expected for an RDA of this size. Build quality is also nice.
The top cap will come off without a lot of force, but not loose enough to come off by accident. The air flow is also very easy to adjust and will stay put once you screw down the top cap.

I am going to order the XTR top cap, the stock airflow is a little tight for my taste.

This RDA stays dry on the outside. No juice leaking from the AFC ring off even any juice residue on the air slots. I have added a ton of juice and have not had the first leak or gurgle.

Very pleased

Recently scored this Apollo in a trade and I must say it's the best deal I've done in a long time. The flavor and vapor are just outstanding and with an o ring at the base make for a perfect squonker.

So, let me see if I understand this. If I buy this atty, it will come with 2 different 510 pins? One standard and one for use as a bottom feeder?

Correct. The "standard" pin is actually hollow. Its meant to allow air coming from directly under the coil. It just so happens to also allow juice to flow up from a squonker. The only issue being to use it properly on a bottom feeder you must somehow blow that path from the outside world otherwise you will have juice seeping from under the atty. I use a fairly thick o ring under the atty where the 510 connection is. You lose the bottom airflow, but it forces the juice to only come up through the pin. Honestly, I also run one as a pure dripper and don't notice much difference with or without the bottom airflow.

With TP it is wise to wrap the coil counter-clockwise in Apollo and trap the wire legs from the top. It offers a more stable connection.

The wick has been laid down in "S" position, with both tails coiling away at opposing sides of the deck platforms.

Saturate the wick with 'sides first' and just a drop on the coil. Hang in there till the capillary action kicks-in and the coil gets well primed. This system assists in the continuous feeding process while chain-gaping ~ and also negates unnecessary juice built up at the centre, which avoids any leakage down the 510 if the bottom air feed system is selected (not necessary in XTR mode with open side air slots).

BOTTOMLINE:

Have been vaping this build since the morning (5-6 hrs. now) ~ stoked! Amazing, just amazing! Performs fantastic, superior flavour, exemplary vapour production and TH - just wow!

If it has to be "dripping" over Temperature Protected ~ it has to be on the Apollo! This is by far the most sturdiest Nickel Wire connections in my experience > Bang on Ohms - the first time, every time.

Another great advantage of the Apollo is it's "non-leakage" system. Even while kept lying down on the table this RDA doesn't leak if we use it's bottom air channel (rather than the side air slots). And I prefer the bottom air feed b'coz it acts as a force multiplier to the flavour! And vapour production isn't hindered as well in this configuration.

Off course I have also fired this build in its XTR mode (Cloud Comp version) with the side air slots ~ and the house got fogged ;)

Just got mine today!
IMG_2059.jpg

Absolutely fantastic. I have wanted one of these devices for a long time and finally went for it. No regrets at all.

IMG_2061.jpg

Number 0060!!

Running it with a 26g Kanthal on a 2.5mm bit, 6 wraps at 0.8ohms. AFC wide open and vented 510 pin on board. Fantastic flavour and very good - and I mean very good - vapour!

btw 26g is really no problem even with the smallish screws. Easy build.

I love it!!!!

ps. no idea why the pics are rotated!

Bumping this because I'm looking for an RDA, I remembered this one looks awesome. Is there a benefit to getting either version, both same vape? I would not need anything bottom feeding btw.

i only have the standard version, not the xtr. The bottom feed pin can be replaced with a solid that comes as a spare. The main difference with te xtr cap is the aifc and the increased air flow (I think). I kind of regret not getting it as well (it also comes as a separate 'upgrade' for 28 eur I think)..

Did I say its a beauty??!

I wish someone would answer about the hollow center pin in TP!!

XTR gets you additional airflow. However, not required even for DTL hits (Which I do with the regular mode itself). XTR would be beneficial for super sub-ohming and for folks who prefer clouds to flavor.

Thanks Q, that was my impression.

Do you have any thoughts about using the hollow 510 centrepost on TP mods. Is there enough electrical connectivity or is the solid pin necessary/preferable??

I have not yet replaced my 'hollow' pin with a 'solid' one buddy. And my Apollo is with a ni200 build since over a month now. No issues.

Its an amazing RDA. I'm going for flavor over the clouds, so my side AFCs are closed. Only using bottom AFC. Have pin with screw inside so i can regulate it.
This is my Ni200 build, its just made for it.
2x Ni200 30g twisted, 7 wraps around 2.4mm with KGD wick.
