It seems that more and more people are getting into rebuildables either it be making new wicks for their vivi novas or SS mesh wicks for their genisis style atties. I've only been a member for a few months and when I started and I didn't see too much talk of them. Now it seems all the rage. The current hit to boge with all the low quality cartos they have been churning out recently I believe has pushed people to search for alternatives. I myself have just ordered a phoenix to give it a go and see if it is for me. If I like it I plan on investing in a genisis style. I think it's exciting to make them myself and can fine tune my vaping experience to my needs. Plus the fact new wicks cost a fraction of what traditional cartos/atties do is a big factor as well.

Niche market, IMO.

Kinda like the "zombie Apocalypse" market.... you know.... Survival shelter, some form of solar/wind power generator, e-cigs and 3000 feet of nichrome wire + juice vault.

Or... similar to the modder's hobby.

Only way the rebuildable market will take off (and it's close now.. even for me) is if the atty/carto market get even crappier than it is right now. Then it will be mainstream, cuz crappy stuff sucks so bad. If one more atty fries on me after only two weeks of use....(I ususally get 1 or 2 months out of em... and "in the old days" they'd still be working when I retired em).

They are the future for vapers that enjoy fiddling with their equipment to improve their experience.

If you've ever made your own juice, because commercial flavors were crap...you may be a rebuilder
If you've ever fiddled with your car to get more horsepower...you may be a rebuilder
If you've ever over-clocked your computer to increase speed...you may be a rebuilder
If you've ever ......

The Vivi Nova is a brain dead atomizer/wick replacement solution, if you are using the pre-assembled part they supply.

I tried the Map tanks awhile back and they were a real hassle to rebuild for a two thumbs like me. They were so hard to pull out that I nearly lost a tooth.

With the Vivi Nova everything just screws in. If you are using on the level of just replacing the atomizer/wick by disassembling and screwing in a pre-manufactured one, than they are both economical and easy. I wouldn't even attempt to re-wick it, I"m among the many who don't mind an easy rebuild solution but don't want to get into true refurbing.

Solutions like Vivi Nova are the future but not solutions where you have to totally rebuild everything. Those who are techically adept just don't understand that the majority of the world wants a certain level of convenience and may also be technically challenged.

I been vaping over 3 years now and always used atty/carto tanks. Recently, I got into RA and I absulotly love it.
A little to learn and practice but all in all I think it's the better way to go. Carto's are a hit/miss and made cheap, IMO. You spend way more then building your own. I like the fact I can change the ohm's whenever I want, vapor is much nicer and flavor is stronger.
I always used the Boge 3.0 but now I only keep a few as back up and very happy. Not sure if it has anything to do with the way vaping has progressed or me finally going forward with what I always thought wa too much work or too much hassle ( which is not, lol).

I think they are an interesting idea. And, I think it's a niche market too.... but I've thought that about other stuff and it turned out I was wrong a few times.

Currently, I have an hh.357 that has been in use since January and has consumed right about a liter of juice. It still vapes like new... With attys that can hold up so well, I'm not sure if I could justify considering rebuildables. The nice rebuildables like Zens' at $139 and Mark Bugs' at $150... and even the ERA is $55 and actually $77 if you get the spare top cap - and those prices are before buying nichrome and mesh.... So, I can get at least a year and a half worth of hh.357 goodness (and maybe as much as 2 1/2 years worth) for the money and not have to rebuild anything. For that matter, even with AttyPops luck, I could have between a dozen and thirty regular 510 attys and be able to vape a similar length of time. It's difficult for me to justify the price plus then actually have to do the work of rebuilding the thing whenever it needs it.

Yeah Tomz...

I'm a (minor grade) modder... build the e-cigs too. Never got into atty building though... because... WHY? $7 or $8 dollars per month for a new atty. Didn't care to mess with it. But that's me.

Then... with this vivi nova thing... I don't need a machine shop and don't have to spend a fortune on something that I may not like. So I may try it. Not really for the tank aspect (I drip mostly) but for the rebuildable aspect and I'll "deal" with the tank. Would be great for driving. I use CE2's now.

I am new to vaping (just 3 months or so). Rapidly went through alot of set ups (plain cartos, carto tanks, vivi nova, ect.) A few weeks ago I bought my first genesis style rebuildable (a Line), and am completely sold! Very easy to set up and gives taste/vapor production that is very very close to direct dripping.

I'm jumping in line for a DID and Penelope. I'm down to my last 15 of the original boge's and won't chance it after that. I'll give my business to the Greeks (Jim and Imeo). They have been kicking .... with amazing products.

Yeah get that DID so I have someone to help me set mine up :D

Installed the Mac OS on a PC just because you could?

Yeah, I've got a bunch of rebuildable/genny stuff coming because I'm tired of throwing my money away on poorly built juice delivery systems that either don't work as advertised, or taste like crap.

I figure even if my DID isn't a good fit for me, it is well built and will have resell value, I don't think a CE4 or 6 or even a Vivi Nova ever will.

Oh crap, I sound like a Provari owner now.

rebuildables do certainly seem like the future. i dont think regular attys/cartos will be going anywhere, but i do think that rebuildables will get more widely used. on the other hand, like said before, its tough to sink that much cash into something when your current setup is working just fine. however i do think its possible that rebuildables could come down slightly in price.

I'm enjoying my vivi nova.. at least the 2.9 head.. it's lasted for a week now. I've ordered some premade coils to see how they're coiled and see if I can put them in my heads. That's the extent of my "rebuildable" right now LOL. If I can make a go of the premade coils, then I'll see about finding some wick and kanthal wire. It's a lot more fun to try out stuff like this when I already have equipment that works (carto tanks and bottom feeder). And yes, I've noticed over the last few weeks that rebuildables or replaceables are becoming more and more popular. I remember when the map tank first came out and I would see pics of them on devices and think "what is THAT?" I also remember when cartomizers first came out.. I hung back and watched to see which ones people liked the best before I jumped into that too.

It's been fun watching the equipment evolve over the last couple of years. And to think that I was once told that a cartridge is equal to a pack of cigarettes LOL.

If I can successfully recoil my VN heads, then I might ease into other things. I've been watching the DID.
