Are rebuildables the future?

I think they are the future for those with the mind to give them a try. If you like tweaking things, finding out how things work, problem solving, maybe (when you perfect it) ending up with something that works better than any commercial atty, then they are for you. If you want something that's just going to work and don't care how, then they are not for you.

They can be pretty cheap as well without any supply issues, now the Chinese are knocking them out for peanuts.

But since I've got about 50 boge cartos... the VN won't be "replacing" my carto tanks or bottom feeder any time soon! Plus, I consider it an addition to my vaping gear, I do like it but wouldn't want it to be all I had to use.

I'm just waiting one of these ERA's which is a bottom fed rebuildable :)

+1. I wouldn't think the Vivi is really the most SS-friendly "rebuildable" (though it's technically a "reloadable" that people often use as rebuildable) around. The area you can fit the SS is just too small. I'm loving the cotton ball threaded through coils right now on my Vision which can be similarly rebuilt.

I actually have replace both the coil and wick in a Vivi Nova but, it's a PITA to do it and avoid a short. Makes a nice backup for the Penelope though.

yea.. I'm going to experiment with rebuiding (rewicking) these cheap products like the VN before I decide if the more expensive rebuildables are for me. I find that with many things (vaping and non-vaping stuff) I have to work my way up to it. It's probably a lot more expensive that way but that's how I do things

Haven't read all the replies...

I think rebuildables and disposables will both find a place in my vaping. I've just recently tried rebuildables, and I do enjoy them better than cartos, but not necessarily better than direct dripping on a fresh atty. I still think I'll continue to enjoy the convenience of being able to just toss an old carto for a new one when I'm being lazy, even knowing the vape may not be as good. But I'm ok with that. After all, I've been using cartos for quite a while knowing I prefer direct dripping an atty. For me it's just down to convenience and how much time I have.

Well, the vivi 2.5 and the mini are my future. They do mute my juice so my next DIY will be in tune with them.

Why? cause they work and aren't pieces of crap like most things I've tried... I've just gone 10 days, throwing out 1 head cause I (me) messed up the wicks. So 10 days=0$. Piles of cartos in the trash, clearos leaking all over me, bottom coils great one box and flawed the next, and now the nova. And you can mod it if you want... I can see people being happy with a tank or a more permanent set up they like but this clearo market is just a scam of poor QC stuff to rip money from our wallets. I'm tired of throwing out flawed $6 piece of crap "stardust" from SI in 1 fill, and having SI sell me $12/box pieces of crap primer-laced Ce3s that were trash. I lost $24 in 1 day!! just opening 2 boxes of their garbage! I won't even talk about leaks when some crap clearo vomits on me during my job interview.... Not a great time to tell your HR interviewer what a Fluxomizer is...

0$
no leaking

Oh, yea...

I understand totally but,... You should at least try a Phoenix Rebuildable atty only becauase it is only $15USD and it's ready to go out of the box and you will have a good example of how to re-build your next coil. Although my prebuilt coil did not have enough extra wick going into the well. you will have plenty of room to xperiment! good luck...
I'm slowly tiptoeing up to that 'rebuildable' line in da sand. Seems that the mechanics are being simplified and the prices are dropping. Gotta luv those aspects!

ETA: I'm talkin' about building coil heads from scratch...

I'd like to get a rebuildable for my Reo's but I'm to cheap to cough up for a Mark Bugs it's $9 cheaper then my provari or $5 more expensive then my Reo Grand I just can't do it

I own 2 Phoenix RA's, a Mark-T, and have a Mark Bugs Chalice on the way. The Mark-T is about 1000x simpler to rebuild than the Phoenix, but the Phoenix has that awesome well that holds like a whole mL of joose. They both are great, in their own way, and no, I don't feel like I overspent on my Mark Bugs products. The build quality is perfect, and obvious even at a glance.

BTW, I DIY juice, have built my own PV, installed Mac on my PC, at one point installed linux on my Macbook Pro without Mac(but realized that's stupid)... I just like to play with stuff!

I personally use 4 strands of cotton crochet thread. It has been working like a dream for me. I also use 33g kanthal instead of the 32g kanthal
I guess us midwesterners just have similar tastes... I also use 33ga Kanthal, and I just found size 3 cotton crochet thread today, and I switched to using that. It's great!

Or installed Windows and Linux with no Mac OS on a macbook :D

I think a Phoenix is in my future :) Tired of the Boge crap QC and the $50 AVA that is pretty inconsistent.

The only think is I wish the Phoenix had a tank mod :)

Installed the Mac OS on a PC just because you could?

Yeah, I've got a bunch of rebuildable/genny stuff coming because I'm tired of throwing my money away on poorly built juice delivery systems that either don't work as advertised, or taste like crap.

I figure even if my DID isn't a good fit for me, it is well built and will have resell value, I don't think a CE4 or 6 or even a Vivi Nova ever will.

Oh crap, I sound like a Provari owner now.

Not knowing if you have a VV device or not... a rebuildable might be worth a shot. Sure a HH comes in at exactly the Ohms you order but a RA can be manipulated with just a few mm longer or shorter. Don't toss the idea out on a whim... I only use for the most part "tube" mods w/o regulation and adjust my vape by the Ohm coil I create each time and it's quite self satisfiying and a good thing to say the least!!! Good luck in your vapeing!!!
I think they are an interesting idea. And, I think it's a niche market too.... but I've thought that about other stuff and it turned out I was wrong a few times.

Currently, I have an hh.357 that has been in use since January and has consumed right about a liter of juice. It still vapes like new... With attys that can hold up so well, I'm not sure if I could justify considering rebuildables. The nice rebuildables like Zens' at $139 and Mark Bugs' at $150... and even the ERA is $55 and actually $77 if you get the spare top cap - and those prices are before buying nichrome and mesh.... So, I can get at least a year and a half worth of hh.357 goodness (and maybe as much as 2 1/2 years worth) for the money and not have to rebuild anything. For that matter, even with AttyPops luck, I could have between a dozen and thirty regular 510 attys and be able to vape a similar length of time. It's difficult for me to justify the price plus then actually have to do the work of rebuilding the thing whenever it needs it.
