Actually there are a lot of folks fighting to get them considered tobacco products so that they will be regulated as such, meaning basically available to us anywhere with limited regulation in comparison to what will happen if they become labeled as drug delivery devices. Then they will most likely be banned until further research is done, then resurface as something inferior and overpriced which requires a doctor's prescription to obtain.

Ack. So it's sort of a double edged sword then.

Why are we even calling them electronic cigarettes??

Seems to me we need to distances the PV as far as possible from cigs, tobacco and the whole nine yards. Even using terms like smoking...

Just thinking out loud here.

I so agree with you. I've been thinking about this for awhile. I actually say, "It's not a cigarette. It's a personal vaporizer. I used it to quit smoking. I recommend it to anyone that wants to quit smoking." I think "vaping" as a descriptor is the way to go also.

Here and back
I agree that we should distance ourselves from the term "cigarette" in any form or fashion but as someone pointed out to me very early on, what was it that brought me to e cigs? It was in fact the term cig (or cigarette) associated with the e cig. Could you have found this forum without using the term?

Double edge sword indeed.

I also tell people that it is my personal vaporizer. If I want to explain further about vaping and not smoking I do. If I do not want to explain, I don't say anything else and people just shrug and walk away. The most ironic thing is that because of having emphysema for so many years, many neighbors just assumed I was using something new to help me breath. Little did they realize how much it was helping me breath by eliminating analogs in my life.

Yup, right you are. I wouldn't have found ECF otherwise. Unfortunately, the more repetition something receives, the more it sticks. Witness the word, "tissue." I'd venture to guess most people call it by one of its brand's names: KLEENEX.

Has taken me (albeit) a short while to understand more of the "culture" of vaping. Now that I know a little more, I surely want to find ways to support its continuance. I think many of the suits holding the keys do not have any idea what the benefits are.

Anyone know if our President knows about vaping? Perhaps it's too unconventional for him. But, when I was smoking, I was secretly comforted that at least Obama (even Laura Bush) was sneaking them. I doubt he or she had to sneak into some alley or 4x4 square to indulge like I did.

I think one of the strongest "hooks" is how many people have stopped smoking from it, so I do try to include that.

Looking forward to refining my pitch :).
