why do we use the term e-cigarette?

I hate the term 'electronic cigarette'. My mods are nowhere near the size of a cigarette. I also feel that the term promotes a negative connotation to vaping. So I make it a habit of not using the terms 'electronic cigarette', 'e-cigarette', or 'e-cig' at all.

I used to refer to my cigarettes as 'smokes'. I refer to my mods as 'vapes'.
