I have no intention of quitting. I use nicotine for madicinal reasons.

I second....except for any misspellings....

@tj - Must say I love you humor in countless posts and your avatar...makes me laugh everytime I see it....thanks for brightening my day (almost every day since it seems I can't keep off this forum)!

After 30+ years of 3 pack a day, I didn't really plan on quitting when I picked up my first PV 2 years ago. It just happened, instantly.

Now I make my own juice, so I'll ratchet down the nic level, mostly for economic reasons.

I'm not going to push it though. If I get to 12 or 8 or 18 from the 24mg I use now, that's great.
If I feel dissatisfied with lower nic or experience weight gain, I'll up it back to where it needs to be.

Until I find out nic is causing an unhealthy blood pressure, or the law forces me into the black market for nicotine, or I see strong evidence that nicotine itself causes serious health problems, I'll keep vaping at whatever level I'm comfy with.

If I can get to 0, I'll save some money and I might just quit vaping, at least in public......Or not.

I imagine the thing most likely to make me quit vaping totally is financial destitution (which, at this point, is not beyond the realm of possibility).

I gained weight when I went cold turkey off cigs for a few months. That was probably worse for my blood pressure, heart and overall health than anything 8, 18, or even 24mg of nicotine is doing.

Never really quit smoking, it just happened that way.

In my mind I'm still a smoker, or at very least a nicotine addict. Just happy to be not killing myself to get nicotine.

I will stop vaping when I cbf'd with it anymore, or when it no longer serves any purpose for me.

Cold turkey will be the way to go when that time comes.

You should try to rid yourself of that mental state. You are not a smoker. Smoking involves smoke. You may be a nicotine addict, but certainly not a smoker.

I know what you mean though. You go through the motions. But look at it like this.... Would you consider yourself a painter if you were an orchestra conductor?

Fair enough. It's not smoking. I can't help making the association from the addiction point of view.

It's just that, as a nicotine addict, I'm supplying my body and brain with something that isn't really required.

I vape like I used to smoke, and for the same reasons, so while some view it as a vice or a pleasurable activity, I simply see it as feeding the beast that shouldn't be there to begin with.

While I'm happy to be not killing myself anymore, there will come a day when I'll make the choice to take that extra step of kicking it entirely and I won't turn back.

Edit to add...
I think it just comes down to enjoyment. I don't enjoy vaping any more than I enjoyed smoking. To change my mindset would involve (for me) starting to love vaping. I just don't see the point. Hope I'm not alone here.

I don't plan on quitting.

I honestly love smoking, it's awesome. It soothes my nerves, or gives me a pick me up as needed, I enjoy the taste and the fun of blowing puffs of smoke out of my mouth of nose. There was nothing I didn't like about smoking... except for the "will kill you horribly" part.

Vaping gives me all of the things I love about smoking but in a much less deadly package. So awesome :)
I will probably never quit vaping because of that. I still get all the enjoyable pleasures I got from smoking, but have MUCH less worry about the deadly side effects. Its a win win for me.

Plus with out analogs in my life (and my taste buds coming back to working condition) I can enjoy the occasional cigar again like its supposed to be. I have a good number of those that I haven't even smoked in months/years because I just couldn't taste them as well, and I felt like I was wasting the quality for nothing.

I am wondering how many people took up vaping in order to quit analogs and now wish to quit vaping but can't

I must say that I started with this with a view to quitting altogether but wonder if I have just changed one bad habit for another (less unhealthy) but bad habit.

Your views will be interesting.

In the beginning, that was my intention. But now that I realize they do not "hook" me like cigarettes, and I can basically vape when I want to relax, and also realizing they are a lot better than analogs, I don't really feel that I want to quit.

it's become an evening hobby for me. Nicotine is good for calming me down after a rough day at work, so I see some therapeutic benefit to it.

I am not trying to be a nic 'pusher' but there are some properties of nic that are not all entirely bad. There are a lot of threads on this at the moment.

I would never encourage anyone to vape if they never smoked and didn't want to try vaping, but I also would not tell someone who does vape that it is something you should try to get off of quickly because I honestly do not view it anymore harmful than coffee.

And I won't be anti nic.

Have you ever wondered if the nic really is calming you down, or if maybe the relaxation you're feeling is a result of satisfying the (perhaps not yet apparent) nicotine craving and subsequently making whatever is stressing you a lot easier to deal with since the other, ever present problem is sorted?

This is what it is like for me, and I envy non-smokers for never having to deal with that.
