I have a wicked case of insomnia / boredom so I thought I would add up all vaping purchases for an 8 month period and see how it compared to cigarettes. No DIY, just buying juice, carto's, maybe a tank. BTW, I'm not good with money so I accomplished this despite myself.

I'm pretty sure that eventually things will balance in my favor and I'll be saving money compared to smoking tobacco cigarettes but at only 30 days in, the vaping has cost me a few hundred dollars more than tobacco cigarettes would have for the month.

I think that we used to spend about $45 to $60 a week on tobacco cigarettes, but have already spent more than $500 on tanks, batteries, mods, coils, eliquids etc. But we're done (at least I am, the wife still wants a Tesla for some reason) buying the hardware (other than coils when needed) and of course eliquid so eventually it will flip flop and the cost of vaping (for the amount that we vape) will become cheaper than smoking tobacco. But at the moment it's still cheaper had we remained smoking tobacco.

However... The price of raising our hands to our noses and no longer smelling stinky stale tobacco.... Priceless!

Lets see for this year...
Batteries = 16
Kayfun Nano Clone = 40
Nemesis Clone = 45
E-Liquid = 76/year*
Total = $137

Cigarettes = 128/month
Total = $1024

$887 total saved
$111/month saved

*I DIY my eliquid

I have a lot of DIY flavors but let it go for a while..a long while. But this makes me want to start up again. I have two flavors that I've liked but just was in buying mode for other juices. My sense of smell and taste came back a month ago. That's when I noticed it--only took two years. I'm sure that I can do a better job at mixing.
My biggest, and best spent money, for me, was buying a Provari. That's all I need. I'm not looking for the next big thing. This makes me want to DIY again. I've got the flavors just need PG/VG and nic. Looking at this I realized that my vaping cost could be extremely cheap.
I'm going to go back to when I started vaping. I spent a lot of money getting going.

Oh yea I still have my 3 and a half year old Provari, and I love it. I'm thinking about the P3, just because my Provari is looking it's age these days.

I tried DIY for a while, but was never able to mix anything great. I lucked out though(kinda) because that was back when the "What's in our flavorings" worry started to pop up, so I tried just straight unflavored eliquid, with about 3-4% menthol, and I loved it. That's all I have vaped since then.

This is my e-liquid shopping list:
500mL 36mg Nic VG base
250mL VG
250mL PG
5x 8mL Menthol flavoring

Every bit of it comes from WizardLabs, and I end up with 1Liter at about 70%VG/30%PG 18mg with 4% menthol, which easily lasts me a whole year. Also, I just checked their website, and apparently that shopping list would run about $55 now, so YAY.

Hmm lets see. I was spending about 120/month on cigs and been vaping for 6 months

120/month x 6 months = $720 for cigs

In the 6 months that I've been vaping I've spent about $450. But I keep having to buy new mods every time I see one I like. Like a damn kid in a candy store....

Haha that was my first year of vaping. I'm pretty sure I lost more money than I saved.

Here in Canada a 25 pack of ciggs is now over 15 bucks a pack. With 2 of us smoking a pack a day it got expensive. There is no way that I have spent anywhere near the 11K we have saved in my signature. I do like shiny things so a conservative guess would be @ 1.5K for my wife and I to get set up, juice and rebuilding supplies, that includes the 2 provari's we use pretty much as our all day PV's. Now that there are higher amp batts out there, I'm starting to enjoy low ohm builds and that requires a army of good mechs and batts, so spend, spend, spend since you can't take it with you. :)

Yes. I stopped keeping track after a while, but I remember after buying my ProVari it was still over $2000 saved and I hadn't hit a year yet. Smoking two packs a day was expensive. I mean, two packs, I had a few different favorites but the cheapest brand I smoked was $5 a pack, maybe $45 for a carton, after the last big tax jump some of my packs went up to $8. I think, if I remember right, I was spending around $350 a month on cigs. That's a little over $4k a year. The exact amount saved though? I couldn't tell you. I'd bet more than $10k though in a little over 3 1/2 years. My upgrade train was short, and I stuck with just my ProVari for quite a while. I buy or DIY juice depending on my mood, so it varies from month to month. Even with the occasional gear purchase vaping seems practically free compared to smoking.

Oh lord! I am so saving money! I was smoking 2 1/2 packs a day of 305 full flavor 100's, and that's not cheap. Between me and my old man we were spending $500 a month of cigs. At the beginning of July 2013 we both switched to vaping. Well, I switched completely before he did, he was sneaking cigs for a while and hiding that from me, or at least trying to hide it. I knew.

Anyway, I now use a mech and genesis RBA and make my own juice. I don't even bother with the B&M's anymore, they have nothing I need. I vape a lot, and it's normal for me to go through 10 ml of juice a day. So I make it up 100 ml at a time about three times a month. I sell some of it, a local guy tried it and really liked my juice, so that helps. It costs me about $8 to make 100 ml of juice, and I sell a 10 ml bottle once a week to the neighborhood guy for $5. So I think I'm doing okay on saving money over smoking. :D

I'm sure there are plenty who haven't saved a penny as they need to buy every type of vaping equipment out there and try hundreds of e-juices. I haven't spent much to keep me from smoking. Three Innokin VV3's a MVP-2. a Protank. Mini Protank, and several IB Tanked carto tanks. I tried a few e-juice companies and found that Nicoticket and Hurricane Vapor have high quality juices which taste great to me. Since I quit smoking I may have spent $500.00 total so far so yes I am saving money.

Smoked for around 2 years and I don't think quitting would have been as hard for me as it is to others but I swapped over to vaping at it has turned out to a hobby for me.
Quit around 6 months ago at maybe 3 packs a week which is a total of 600$ so far. Spent around 400$ totaly counting in mods atomizer and juice etc and I think this equipement will be quite enough for me quite a while ahead. But who isn't tempted to get some new fresh stuff every now and then? :)

DIY and rebuilding. it will save you such a bundle...

I'm still in my first year of vaping (about 8 months) and I have saved about 700 dollars.

That is including the 200 dollars I (semi)wasted on my first 2 setups and about 150 dollars worth of sub par pre mixed b&m bought juice.

I have been saving 30 dollars 2 times a month so I can get a high watt box mod but other than that I haven't spent anything on vaping for a few months now.
