I ask this question because I'm concerned if we are getting enough or too much nicotine.

I'm finding myself smoking / vaping for longer in duration and frequency than I would have on a cigarette.

So lets create a combined duration and frequency term, and call it a session.

Is your current sessions more or less now your vaping than with analogues?

A lot of the posts on this forum refer to "constantly vaping," Or, "I cant put it down" ETC.

If this is the case, then why not just increase the Nic level of your liquid and go back to the same "Sessions" that you previously did?' If you want the reverse, when you smoked analogues why didn't you decrease the nic level and smoke more often?

If the answer is "Because I enjoy it more" then I believe we are not doing the right thing?

I cant answer the question of increasing the nic level of my vapour because I'm a noob and haven't got that far in this experiment yet.

Would really like to hear some long replies and not the simple one liners.

Thanks,

MT

I think it all evens out for me. With cigs, I would smoke frequently throughout the day... while driving, before going inside stores/restaurants, in the parking lot before going into work, etc. While I vape constantly at the computer or on breaks at work, I don't vape while on-the-go... basically I only do it when I'm stationary, because I don't feel as dire a need to vape as I did to smoke.

I definitely am hooked on the vaping, it's almost hard for me to put the dang thing down, LOL.

I may be a little different than most. I smoked because I enjoyed it or the action of it I should say. I had gotten tired of the flavor many years ago, but the action was the driving force that kept me smoking. I have always liked to smoke a pipe, but most of the time it was more hassle than it was worth.

Guess I should tell you that I have been smoking since 1962. Smoking has always been a stress reliever for me and so in a way it has been a health tool of sorts, in that we all know that stress is one of the biggest killers of all time. Smoking used to relieve that stress for me as I am not a big drinker. Used to tease the Doc that he didn't want me to quit smoking, because I'd just start drinking.

While I do vape more than I ever did smoke, it is purely because I like it so much. I prefer to vape non-nic most of the time, maybe do a nic hit once or twice during a day but many times don't even do that.

My second device was the Mini-Pipe and I am quite fond of it. It goes with me all of the time. To me it has all of the pros of a smoking pipe and none of the cons. If you enjoyed smoking a pipe before, than you know what I mean. If you have never tried a pipe maybe you should, there is nothing more relaxing to me than sitting back with friends, a beer and a pipe, having a good conversation.

Happy Vaping

while 36 or even 30mg nic levels are probably too high for most people, if you smoked like i did (deeply inhaling and holding smoke in for max effect) then it may take a high nic level to satisfy your existing needs.

i vape 36mg cut with VG to ~30mg, and i find myself using the e-cig less than i smoked.

i like sitting down once every 2 hrs and taking a hard core vape break.... and then i'm good for another 2 or 3 hrs. and using high level nic keeps me from wanting to chain vape, i get my fix and i forget it.

I believe it works out less for me, so I voted No. I take a vape when I want one. With smokes, I lit one when I wanted, but then, I felt I had to finish the whole cig whether I wanted to or not, so I wouldn't waste it.

I don't have sessions, really. Just take a hit whenever I want it. Sometimes one hit will do me for a while, sometimes a few in succession. I was heavy smoker. I use 24-25 mg juices, but even then, I was feeling a bit nicotine starved. I ordered a 36 mg bottle and drip a little of that when I start feeling that way. With smokes, I don't doubt I was getting way more nic than I needed. With e-cigs, I have complete control, and can fine tune, and thus give myself the bare minimum I need to get by.

a) I had devolved to low nic Winston Ultra Lights – 1 pack a day

b) After one month vaping, my nic mg is diminishing - from 24 then to 16 then to 12 mg

c) If I smoked analogs like I vape, I would be doing 4 packs a day at least.

we are new to this too. Only a couple of weeks. You are going to find a lot of changes if you stop analoges. You are going to smell things better, breath better, taste things better. I would not worry about getting too much nic because you are getting rid of so much other crap that analoges have in it.
Do yourself a favor and buy a bunch of differnt nic levels - 10 ml bottles. you can get them for less than $5 a piece. get a 11, 16 ,18, 24, 36 - try them. Then decide what level gives you the rush you need. Whatever you pick , it has to be better for you than analoges. I was a pack a day marlboro ultra light smoker and my husband was a 2 pack a day Marlboro light smoker. I have stopped the analoges completely. He still has one or two a day. I think he will stop eventually too. We both smoked for over 25 years!
You have to remember - it is not the same - maybe it's better - but it is new to you and it is a habit that takes time to change.

Just wondering. Have you gotten sick or thrown up? If not, whats wrong? :D
I lol'd
I found puking is a good sign to stop doing quite a few things.

That being said I also noticed I needed to keep an ashtray around, because anytime I didn't see it I felt the urge to light an analog.

For what it's worth, the vast majority of people seem to vape more than they smoked . . . at least in the beginning.

The phenomenon of "chain vaping" when first taking up e-cigs is probably no doubt due to a number of factors . . . less efficient nicotine absorption, trying to distract ourselves from the desire for a cigarette, and just having fun with a new habit seem like the most likely culprits. ;)

And, of course, there is that weirdness in the beginning trying to figure out when you're "done." With cigarettes, it's fairly easy to quantify when you're done because you finish the cigarette. The ending point with an e-cig isn't quite so clear cut, and it takes a slight change in mindset for some folks to get over that little hurdle.

I've been vaping for 9 months, and my vaping has slowed down substantially the last few months. I think part of that is my nicotine addiction has decreased, and my body has gotten used to lower nicotine levels. I also think part of it is I vape with a higher powered device, and that seems to be more satisfying to me . . . a few puffs, and I feel "done." That's not to say that I don't have my episodes of chain vaping, but all in all, I'd say it's calmed down substantially for me.

Most importantly, though . . . I still don't want an analog. :)

When I'm just lounging around the house I vape a lot. When I'm at work I've noticed I don't get urges to go get a fix like I used to with cigarettes. I think weening myself down to a fairly low amount of nic in such a short time worked in my case. I only vape on lunch at work, as opposed to before when I'd have to take at least one morning break and one afternoon break in addition to smoking on lunch to get my fix.

To be honest, I think at home I just vape so much to have something to do with my hands.

Yes, I've noticed that when I'm at my computer or in my car, I absentmindedly vape the whole time. I never would have done that with analogs. But with a PV there's no clear stopping point.

On the other hand, just last night I realized I didn't vape for the 4 hours before I went to bed. Just didn't think to do it. I can't explain why since I *never* would have forgotten to smoke after dinner or before I went to bed when I was smoking analogs.

I voted for it's the same. I sort of averaged it out though - I hit the PV more often but for shorter periods of time for the most part.

With analogs - I would have one every two hours when at work, and every hour or so if at home. there were exceptions to that though - I would "punctuate" everything with an analog break - drive to the store, have a smoke on the way from the car to the store (then stand outside the store finishing it); finish a project, smoke break; after diner, smoke; etc.

Now, I don't stop for a break - just hit the PV for a drag or two when I feel like it.

Geeze, I found I was vaping so much I was stuffing my pockets with spare batteries and top-off bottles because it was so good and didn't want to stop.
I inadvertently discovered a method to curb my vaping habit lately though:
Get some KR808D cartomizers, a 501 to 901/KR808 adapter for your Silver Bullet, and a bottle of AltSmoke's RY4 juice.
First of all, pulling a Wendy's Frostie through a straw is easier than drawing on that 808/adapter rig. Secondly, the RY4 juice in those carts is horrific, tasting something like, oh, paint thinner. This'll surely keep your vaping "sessions" down, and least until the next shipment of Tennessee Cured arrives from Johnson Creek. :D
