I have to wait for that new JAC to get here. It over hangs on everything I own. I put on a ProVari........

_____ envy.:lol::lol::lol:

sorry that is really funny to me.

I'm with you. The new tank should arrive Monday. According to JAC, they are expecting the Sandstorm on the 4th. I'm guessing considering the time of year toward the end of the week of the 11th.

Wow, thats bad! Are you saying you can´t close the top cap completely and it will stay this way with a bit of the silicone seal squeezed in the top cap? I would not consider this a minor issue... at ALL! Very worrying...hmmm.
K.
Just cosmetics. It doesn't affect anything, the lid closes with a reassuring clicking sound.

When someone has a chance after they receive the Ares, I'd appreciate it if you could compare the tightness of the airflow to, say, the Berserker as most should own that. I understand from comments made by Phil and Dimitri that it's not as tight as the Berserker, but I'd like to have an idea (Smallest hole on the Ares is equal to the second smallest on berserker...that sorta thing). Thanks. ;)

The smallest opening on Ares is similar to the second smallest on Berserker.

Heh. I guessed right. Thanks, VictorC!

The temptation to order this grows stronger now. Before I gave up on the Berserker, the airflow was set on either the smallest or second smallest which was a perfect draw for my preference.

Thank You very much @VictorC. Going from the smallest hole, I use holes # 3 and #4 the most on my Berserker, so the Ares should work for me as far as the air flow goes, but I'm still gonna watch all the reports coming in before I "buy In" myself.

Okay really early 1st impressions, but right now, IMO this tank beats the berserker, siren 2, merlin MTL rta and even the $120 kayfun prime I have.

The flavor is really good and brings out the flavor out stronger than the tanks I listed above.

I had one problem when building though, it is a really easy deck to build on, but seems my coil wire was going below where the screw holds it, so was tricky catching the coil, but was only on one side, so seemed as if they made the screw a little to high on that one side, if wasn't for that, would of been a breeze.

I did a 2.5mm coil and wicked pretty thick with cotton bacon, channels are stuffed and only just touches the deck, and with 70VG juice, it has been wicking great, as new tank and flavor so good, been chain vaping it, and no dry hits.

I've not refilled yet, so can't comment on that, but was easy to fill, really like the top filling, be easy on the go, as the top stays on when you refill.

So only been using for about a hour, but if you like a good MTL vape and on the fence about the Ares, I say go and buy it, I doubt you will regret it, and of the tanks I listed at the start of this essay, I only have 1 of each, but if this Ares stays this good over the next week, I will be buying more for sure :)

I found a site that had the Ares in stock, and ordered two last night! Got my shipping notice this morning, but it’s coming from Canada to California!

Questions, if you guys don’t mind.

    1. Can I use my 22mm mods for this tank? I’m still pretty new, and only have two batteries. I “can” get a new one (24mm), just not sure which!

    2. What are the bare minimum tools I will need? I literally have nothing, and Phil’s videos explaining how to build on the Ares convinced me that it’s easy, and I can do it.

    3. I guess that’s it! Thanks for the help!

Hey sk, what's up. All you really need to start, you already have there, but you will need juice. You can get a 24mm mod at a later date if you want, a 22mm mod will work just fine.

Later on you can get a small pair of needle nose pliers, a pair of tweezers, a sharp pair of scissors, a small pair of side cutters (wire cutters), I use a metric ruler to measure off about 50-60mm of wire to make my coils so I don't waste too much. I don't think I have forgotten anything you will need as a bare minimum of tools not already provided. (a pair of nail clippers will work in place of wire cutters for that)

I just soaked it in hot soapy water for 15 minutes, good rinse off and was good to go ;)

    Hi SK and welcome!

Yes you can--the issue is purely cosmetic, your Ares will sport an unsightly overhang, but it will work just fine.

I recommend something like Wismec Sinuous P80 or Joyetech evic Primo--they will nicely accommodate your Ares and give you temperature control function if you choose to use it in the future.
    2. What are the bare minimum tools I will need? I literally have nothing, and Phil’s videos explaining how to build on the Ares convinced me that it’s easy, and I can do it.

Ares comes with everything you need to start using it--wire and simple tools to make your coils and cotton for the wick. Later you'll have to buy more wire and more cotton. YOu can get it very inexpensively (+free shipping) from Fasttech. Get some 26 and 28 g UD Kanthal wire and Japanese organic cotton. FT also carries premade coils should you find it easier--they have a wide selection of premade coils, both Kanthal and stainless steel (which can be used both in power and TC mode).

    Good luck!

That is a steal at that price :)

Sure more people will add their opinions over the next few days as they get them, but I think this tank will be a big hit ;)

Finally got some time to get 1 cleaned, coiled, wicked and filled and just love this tank so far, I've only been vaping it for about 1/2 hour and it's hitting all the check marks great. Most important, flavor is nice and defined, air flow very smooth, and it's a true MTL tank. Wicking is perfect so far with 50/50 juice, I get a bubble after every vape.
