He is bias because he has his fingers in with the Siren V2, I have been active in the thread of the siren v1, and most agree it it a great flavor tank. The biggest complaints with the Siren V1 was leaking.

Also the Siren V2 wasn't released when they started on the Ares, so call BS they copied parts of the Siren V2.

Also I will say IMO the flavor is better on the Ares than the Siren V2.

I guess that settles any sort of doubt I had.

What the heck....first impressions after vaping on it for about 15 minutes. Using the included coils that ohm out at about 1.0 ohm. Keep in mind, some of this (all?) will be subjective based on MY MTL wants and needs.

1) The tank was filthy when I first opened up the box. So much so that I would have thought it used if it had not been sealed the way it was. There was a chunk of something dark stuck in between the silicone fill port and the tank as well...not sure what that was. Dirtiest new tank I've encountered.

2) The slide cap is clunky and not very smooth. But, I do expect that to improve with use. I have my doubts about the longevity of this, though. Big doubts.

3) Build quality seems good otherwise, though.

4) Easy to build on. But...with the screws mounted horizontally, you need to hold the deck firmly when screwing in if you're using a build station or on a mod as the deck will be prone to turn. They lose points for that.

5) AFC ring is a little too firm. I actually take it off my mod to adjust. While not necessary, it's easier.

Somewhat minor things there, though. Now the real bad...

6) Airflow/draw: Way. WAY too loose. I wouldn't call this a "true" MTL tank. MTL is certainly doable, of course, but I need to close off almost the entire last hole to get a draw somewhat close to what I like. It's not very smooth at those lower air settings, either. Not at all. Somewhat related: Very weak throat hit.

7) Flavour: Poor. Kinda shocked at this, really. It's like I have a cold and can't taste anything.

I'm most disappointed in the airflow. With respect to Phil and Dimitri, this should have been communicated very well with all the marketing they did prior to launch. All they really said was "It's not as tight as the Berserker". It wasn't until after release (and I ordered) that info started to come out. I never thought these guys would sign off on a tank this airy. I would not have ordered if I had known. Big disappointment.

Overall grade? Will spend some time with this before I decide, of course. But, right now it's looking like a big fail just due to the airflow.

I have to say that I Totally Disagree with Vic, on more points than I agree with him on. There should be no Bias inserted in Vape Hardware Reviews, if there is then trust is the casualty. Vic either made his mind up that he didn't like the Ares right off the bat, or he got a bad copy of it (poor QC, like ShaneR's maybe) but Vic never mentioned any QC issues, it's a shame.

I totally agree with what Nailz, and soulseek posted on this. I'm trying to look at this Ares objectively as I find it very interesting, but reviews like Vic's don't help me out at all concerning whether or not I too will buy-in.

Maybe send a message to Phil on the Innokin site and link him to your post here. Bad QC is Bad for the whole Company, even 1 bad unit is too many.

Heh. Nope. I posted a quick initial thought (just around the airflow) in a MTL group on facebook and I think I may have started a bit of a fight. ***sigh*** Welcome to the internet, right? I should have known better.

Oh No. Sorry to hear that Shane. Unfortunately your right, some groups you have to walk rather softly into, and some others, just ignore. Don't get discouraged though, We still like you.

LOL. Thanks! Draw is, admittedly, a subjective thing. But, I base my draw impressions on a cigarette draw as that's all I've used from the moment I started vaping. So, I think my observation is valid. There's plenty of us out there that still like that "really tight" draw.

Yes, Yes there are. I am one of them also. I really like my Berserker alot, but have been keeping my eye on this Ares as a possible second RTA that draws like that too, and that's why your post interested me. All I want is the Truth, even if it hurts my feelings a little, but that's just me.

Wow. I wasn’t too impressed with Ares..........but not that bad. I thought the flavor from the Siren v1is great. Not sure what he means when he says the Siren v1 was flawed too.
If you watch him vape in videos it doesn't look like he knows how to MTL and he has a grimace on his face always and seems to slip stream his vape. I think he might have a little $ deal with the Siren V2 on sales. I could be wrong but his explanation of people having to use the 3rd largest airflow opening to get good flavor on the V1 is bonkers. I can't trust a word out of his mouth now. I hate saying this but he doesn't make any sense.

I have learned that Different people have their own meaning attached to MTL vaping, as Phil likes a 2mm air flow hole, and I think that 2mm's is too loose for MTL vaping, but, Vic seems to be calling a Restricted Lung Hit a MTL Hit, and he does seem to "Slip Stream" his draws. Oh well, it is what it is, and he can vape however he chooses, but his video is very confusing, to me at least, so I won't put much stock into what he said.

My only question was that, knowing that Phil likes a 2mm air flow hole, how much tighter can the air flow be made for those of us that want tighter ??

I agree and realized that the best reviews come from us vapers on the forum.

Well, then, I can comfortably say that you won't like the Ares. However...were/are you not a user of the Siren V1? or am I getting usernames confused? The draw on the Ares is pretty darned similar to the V1 (another tank I gave up on rather quickly lol).

After using it a week, I feel the Ares on the smallest hole has the same draw as the Berserker on the middle hole.

That works great for me since that is where I kept the Berserker. If you like the smallest hole on the Berserker you will not like Ares.

I prefer the flavor of the Ares better as I feel it is slightly more defined but only noticeable if switching between them between vapes.

The fill is better on the Ares and haven’t had any problems.

Not much, in fact. I've been trying all evening.

Put your finger over the air hole that your using and suck........
See if its leaking air from any where else. Mine was all around the base and the top cap seal to the tank. The tank seal fixed it self along the line.
I also noticed after a previous post here that my air defuser was loose. Tightened it with tweezers. Then Needle nose.
    Well.....
Actually after I gutted the entire thing, well all except the air flow control.....(Still baffled on how that comes apart).

I wasnt very happy with this tank. I figured if I broke it Ummmmm Who cares.

So after ripping it apart. Basically taking the 510 screw out and pulling like a mudda on the base and deck. WAALLLaaaaa . It Does come apart.

The pieces inside werent tight. I tightened it up (easy).
Tightened up the 510. more then ya should. Which actually presses the pieces back together. (thought this will never work again without leaking)

Slapped it all back together and can get a usable MTL hit off it. (yes i like them tight to).

Initially I didnt think it any tighter but it was.
I think most of it was the air defuser in my case.

The base doesnt get any condensation like it was after half a tank anways . ( It was bad before that)
My air flow ring only leaks very little if drawing way to hard with my finger over it........Dunno what fixed it.

Word of advice. Dont loosen or tighten the 510 connection while the tank is on. It may actually mess with the press fit of the deck and the air flow control.

There are no seals in there what so ever.

I have a Siren V2..........got better results without trying. Though I now have this working darn close.
I hit on the Siren using hole #3 from smallest. To compare for those reading this novel.

EDIT: I also notice tonight that my Smoked glass is chipped on the edge. Probably usable.......But GEEEZe

Yeah, the Siren V1 is my all time flavor champ. When using it I have only ½ of the smallest air flow hole open for MTL draws, and if the Ares is about the same, I'll have to pass I think. The air flow ring on my Berserker has almost NO Blow-By, meaning, that when closed completely I have to put some effort in my draw to get any air thru to the coil, add in the 1.45mm (measured) air tube diameter under the coil, small chimney diameter and small drip tip opening, and I can run any air ring hole except for the largest one (too big for me) and find it a "Great Vape". I was hoping the Ares was similar, and that's why I am here. Thanks ShaneR for the come-back.:thumb:

I have seen that being post more than once now, and it is encouraging to see. I'll just keep hanging around and reading reports I guess. Thanks for that Bullet. :thumb:

Wow !! Your post reads very reminiscent of some posts in the Siren V1 thread, where some of us almost "Tinkered" that atomizer to death to get it to work right, but your talking the Siren V2 aren't you (as a comparison to the Ares).
